The Day of the Party...

I started bright and early, getting things ready
for our New Year's Day/birthday party..
breakfast first...
pancakes....
PECAN PANCAKES..
We chopped pecans in my mother's olden glass chopper..

We made a big crock pot full of
homemade chili..

Our people brought..
Black-eyed peas
chips and dips
cheese balls
cheese and cubed beef tray/with barbecue sauce to dip
peanut brittle
fudge
peppermint bark
cookies of all kinds..
ooo, too much food to mention.
As if it KNEW how much I wanted it to  bloom...
when I awoke the morning of the party...
there it was...
blooming, in all it's glory.
A PINK
STRAWBERRY CAKE with ONE PINK CANDLE...
just perfect !
 Hahaaa...what fun we had.
That's sweet daughter*in*luv, KATHY.
All the grandgirls left before we got pictures of them....:((
 About 22 people..
young and olden
great visiting, laughing and eating.
Playing games and listening to music.
What a wonderful wonderful time we had.
 NOPE, you're not seeing double..
my good friend MARTHA and myself.
We're twinkies....:)
I gave this sweater to MARTHA for Christmas
and she looked so cute in it...
I went back and bought one for my silly self.
Same fabric....different styles.
Oh, and LOOK...
We even have the
same color hair.!!

Food, family, friends and laughter. What a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday and a new year.

I planted my MIL's amaryllis outside in western NC, near Asheville 5 years ago and it has bloomed every late summer and fall since.

Such fun times, BJ! Loved seeing these pictures.

Sometimes the g'kids are just too fast. They are out the door, before I can get a picture. Thanksgiving, I got pics of the little ones, but did not have one of Miss Priss. A day or two later, she said G'ma, you didn't get my picture...I tried...she was too fast for me.LOL

What a GREAT family gathering, bj!
Your daughter is a cutie..it's amazing how much she looks like my baby sister. My sis was just a tiny thing when I left home... :)
Your pretty plant gave you a new years gift by unfurling itself just for your party!
We all gather at the Bakery every year...and I didn't get a single picture. I forgot my camera..son took some so hoping he will forward a few to me.

Again..Happy New Year, dear friend!
