Getting ready for a party...

Before I talk about the party...
...remember all these little tiny Christmas gifts...? tiny, little, cutie boxes ...?

MR. SWEET made 10 genuine turquoise and silver pendents for all
the females in our family.
He put them all on leather necklaces and we all LOVE them.
They look good with anything we are wearing.
He is so sweet...
and so talented.
There's nothing he can't do with his hands.
♥♥♥
NOW, we can talk about the
NEW YEAR'S/BIRTHDAY PARTY
we have every year.
My birthday is New Year's Eve...
We are having the party on SATURDAY, the 1st
this year, as we have another party on
NEW YEAR'S EVE to attend at our wonderful church...
THE CHURCH AT THE BARN
sooo, I am
CLEANING...
ARRANGING...
and re-arranging.

I've not had this shelf in my living room in a long time
and decided it needed to come back for awhile.
I LIKE IT.
*
This is just an inexpensive shelf  but I saw one in a photo with the
rusted iron works on it...
and MR. SWEET put these on MY shelf
and made me fall in love with it all over again...

and I am thinking I just MIGHT have a pretty flower
by the 1st.
I hope
I hope
I hope......
You might recall that I found
a THIRD large, brass candlestick
while thrifting one day..
I painted it in the same SATIN FRENCHY BLACK
and the three look really good in the living room.
I have
"get three candles  ALIKE"
on my shopping list for tomorrow. :)
I took all my plants outside, shook the heck out of them to get rid of dead leaves,
gave them a good drink
and brought them back inside.
They look all fresh and pretty, sitting in my southern windows.
Oh, yes....
I vacuumed and dusted and put things, first here...then there...
I took out books (well, not ALL of them)
and dusted them and the shelves and did
a little re-arranging.
oops...
I changed up my
Ooh LaLa   shelf
and added the sunflowers.
Now, I know that sunflowers don't bloom in the winter time..
but these are FAUX and, I wanted a little color here
for the gaiety of the proposed
FUN PARTY...
so......
why not ?
I added my "I JUST LOVE IT"  sign
and the little thrifted ANGEL that had her hair done with a mixer..:))
Tonight, I got out my VINTAGE locker room basket with all my cookbooks and
I am pouring over them...
I want something really, REALLY great to
serve my wonderful friends.

If any of you have some favorite snacks that you like to serve at parties,
would you kindly let me know?

Beeeej!!!! Happy Birthday, my friend. I wanna come to your party! Waaaaaahhhhhhhhh! Now that I'm done cryin' cause I can't come, here is neat little appetizer I made the other day for my girl party.
Bake some phyllo cups with a teaspoon of herbed spreadable cheese, when they are out of the oven, put a dollop of pepper jelly on top. Sooooooooooooo good!
xoxoxo lots!

We are having a dinner party this evening and I need to get crackin on it, too!! Everything looks so nice, clean and organized!!! Great job!

For New Years, we are also having some people over. I am going to make the little smokies wrapped in bacon with a tooth pick that you sprinkle brown sugar over and bake for about 20 minutes or so. Yum, yum!

Aren't handy-husbands wonderful?!? :-)

Ohhhhhhh you were a New Year's Eve baby! How super. And that means, that you're always a year younger than you could be, if born on New Year's Day!!!!!!! [Leave it to me to think of some silly twist, on anything!]

Happy New Year's and Happy Birthday and lots and lots of good wishes!!!

Btw, love peeks around your house. I always have to say that, when people give them, and encourage them to keep giving us more and more such peeks! :-))))

Gentle New Year's hugs...

Thanks for showing the brass candlesticks you painted! Brass is my least favorite metal, so I've avoided buying any thrift shop pieces. Now I know I can buy them and cover up the brassy look with paint!

The necklaces are great. Happy Birthday!

Have a wonderful birthday and NYE party too!
I have had a stomach virus for 3 days
just starting to be able to take some tea and toast.
So you party extra hearty for me!

I know everything will be wonderful. It will be a special party for a special gal. I think your best present of all has to be Mr Sweet himself. Have a Happy, Happy Birthday and New Year too.

What a talented Mr. Sweet. . .I had no idea! Your candlesticks are just gorgeous. What a transformation! I loved the debut of your sunflowers! I have some in wall pockets that I leave out all year long. Did I mention that I LOVE Sunflowers? (Good thing I'm from the Sunflower State!)
Very windy in our town today. . .even though I fixed my hair, I must admit, I still look somewhat like your angel.HA!
Have a Happy New Year, BJ. . .and enjoy your time with friends!
I'll be looking forward to blogging with you in 2011!

I would LOVE those pendants. Living in Arizona for years and years, I grew to really appreciate turquoise jewelry.

My Show n Tell Link---where it's kinda fodder for the National Enquirer Tabloids. Do stop by if you can, I'd love your opinion.

Happy New Year
