The color BLUE is considered a COOL color..
HOWEVER..
it can be made to look
very warm indeed...
*
As I am totally busy
cleaning
cooking
washing
crafting
before all the holidays hit,
I pulled these
WARM BLUES
from the past..

If a person can actually LOVE an object,
THIS is one I love.....
Our FRANKLIN FIREPLACE...
a wood burning, free standing stove.
Buying the logs to burn in my treasured stove
is one of our few luxuries.
*
From the very first COLD front that hits our town,
my fireplace stays hard at work...
not necessarily to heat our cottage...
we do have central heat.
But simply for the beauty.
*
On this cold day, I decided this was a perfect spot for a hot drink and yummy treat..
*
A sweet treat, a cup (or 3) of delicious coffee
The vintage BLUE WINDMILL coffee canister
is just one item out of my extensive
BLUE WINDMILL CANISTER COLLECTION.

I absolutely LOVE my 3 tined forks...a gift from my mom years and years and years ago.
Mr. Sweet just hates to eat with them....wonder why ??
I have a pair of these silver plated candlestick...
a fabulous garage sale find.
A beautiful fire...
silver spoons..
vintage dishes...
a little beloved bell that Mr. Sweet found at a flea market,
bought because he knew it would match my blue and white dishes so well...
and would make me happy.
He is such a sweetheart...
all the above
make my heart sing...
I must be a fire bug because I do love FIRE....
Candles, fireplace fire, bonfires...
I love 'em all...
I can sit and stare at a fire for hours...
....which reminds me that my mama used to say
"staring at fire will make you wet the bed!"
Haha...
how crazy some of those olden sayings were.
"Step on a crack, you'll break your daddy's back"...
"Step on a hole, you'll break your mama's sugar bowl"............
"Crossing your eyes will make them freeze that way"...
There a hundred I've heard all my life...
These warm from the stove scones are delicious just served plain, with butter..
or honey, jellies and jams take them over the top.
OR....
.....my very favorite is snowy, fluffy, delicious
powdered sugah.....
Yes, ma'am....
I do love me a big, roaring fire
in my beloved Franklin fireplace.
This fireplace has such a beautiful story connected with it and
I promise to tell you all about it......someday.

ReplyDeleteLove all those old sayings ... & they sure had a ton of them back back when.
Your setting is so warm & inviting, BJ. The blues are beautiful. Nothing more comforting, warming & romantic than a roaring fire, a spot of tea & something sweet.

Have a lovely week ~

Those sayings are funny! It's amazing what made us laugh when we were young -- need to bring that joy back, don't you think? Have a great week. Sally
ReplyDeleteOh, I envy you sitting there with warm toes and goodies..like a queen for sure! Love the blues..the dishes and the food. I love a fire too and can stare into it forever..I love the places it takes me in my mind. :D
ReplyDeleteI love it BJ!!!
ReplyDeleteKisses dear.
Very warm and inviting BJ, great shots of everything! I have a wood stove and treasure it too! "Hearth and home" love it:@)
ReplyDeleteHi Sweet BJ,
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cozy at your place! I have been so busy with school and work that I've gotten behind in my visits, but it is so nice to stop in and see you my friend. I've always wanted one of those Ben Franklin stoves. Do they have to punch a whole in the roof? I've always wondered how those get installed.
Hugs,
Dena
you tempt me! I agree with the 3 cups of coffee!
ReplyDeleteI love a cozy fire just for the ambiance too. I thought your blue was going to be in the flame. LOL! Love your blue dishes, silver and your treat looks devine! Very enticing setting!
ReplyDeleteWell first of all I must compliment you on your choice of music. I'm sitting here in front of my fireplace tapping my toes to Seger sitting Old Time Rock n Roll.
ReplyDeleteYour tablescape just makes me want to get up and bake! Thanks for sharing.
Oh how I wish I had a fire to cozy up to -- this looks so inviting! I love your silver and your blue and white china, too. Some gorgeous pieces!!

You always set everything up to look so pretty... & I am always hungry when I leave here :)
what a beautiful Post BJ!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great night!
Blessings,

Pretty dishes and love the canister. The scones look yummy especially with the powdered sugar.
ReplyDeleteNothing says home like a roaring fire and a hot cup of coffee. We have a Ben Franklin in our lake cabin and I love to burn it. The scones look yummy.
ReplyDeleteThe whole scene is just plain INVITING. I think your scones look marvelous, and all the blue and white is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same about fires.
Now, we broke our *mother's back* stepping on a crack. Wonder why the difference? Either way, I still have a hard time stepping on a crack. LOL
Great, warm post BJ!
I do love it so! The coffee cannister! How I would love to have one! Oh, the dishes, love, love! Ah, the scones I can just taste! Love the silver and yes a roaring fire! Ah!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining me for Tea Time! Love the blue and whites!
Love those blues!!! Your fire is so inviting, and the scones.....oh my! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could just pop over and join you for coffee and a scone in front of that lovely fire. It looks so cozy and comforting! Your blue and white dishes and canisters, and the bell or so pretty. Blue and white is something I really don't have much of but for some Blue Willow dishes. You may make a convert out of me!!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I love all your pretty pictures! Wish I was sitting with you sharing a cup of tea and eating one of those yummy looking pastries!
ReplyDeletebj, sweetie, this is exactly the place to be when you can't sleep..and here I am! WHY can't my posts be this nice. Oh..wait..I don't have one of those fireplaces..but I do have a fireplace..just not lit right now. And...a goodie to munch on. Would tea keep me awake? No matter. I am feeling all warm and cozy and glad to be alive even if I did spend too much on scrapbooking!
ReplyDeleteI need to be grateful! It's that time of year. Thanks for reminding me..
Big hugs!
Mona
My mother used to issue the same warning about staring into the fire. I still think about it when I sit in front of our fireplace--so far, so good!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your blueness today. Very cozy!
Best,
Bonnie
I love this whole post BJ. Can I come over and sit by the fire with you and have a cup of coffee?
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
Oh BJ, this is so pretty. Love your gorgeous blue and white. The canister is fabulous and using the silver is so pretty with your setting. Stunning. Thanks so much for linking to TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteBJ, every inch of this post is yummy! We sat by the fire yesterday to enjoy a cup of coffee and a visit with a friend. Like you, I could sit and stare at the dancing flames for hours. I laughed at your sayings. Funny how those little things stick in ones mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the spot of tea in that beautiful cup and the yummy scone. I had mine with powdered sugar! ~ Sarah
BJ,
ReplyDeleteYou'd better set another setting. .. that looks like a yummy scone with jam and I could use your sense of humor today! HA! You always lift my spirits! Thank you, dear!
Fondly,
Pat
Oh my! That buttery scone looks delicious! And...so do your blues. How inviting! Wish I could join you. I'd get my toes as close as I could to that fire. I hope you enjoyed it.

Have a sweet day, Elizabeth
Oh pretty!! What a warm and cozy spot you have there. So inviting. Just love the blue and white! Pretty!
ReplyDeleteBJ!!!!! I so miss you. I just found out some horrible news about another blogger (Wendy, from No Botox Allowed) and it made me wistful because I've stopped reading blogs of the people I really love and adore. You of course were at the top of the list.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see you've got the Franklin all fired up again. Like you, I love (contained) fires. There's something so soothing about them.
And OMG, you made those fluffy bits of goodness? Ooh, they look SO good.
Love you,
Justine :o )
Nothing's cozy like a fire! Romantic too.
ReplyDeleteYour blues are absolutely lovely today!
BJ you always make everything look so warm and inviting and yummy! I love scones but always buy them since any I have tried to make just haven't turned out so good. Would you share your recipe? Please.....
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so welcoming. What a wonderful fireside setting.
