THEY SAY (WO)MAN CAN NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE...

I'm not so sure about that .....

I am pretty sure I COULD , indeed, live on
HOT, HOMADE BREAD very easily...
*
PENNY that lives in THE COMFORTS OF HOME
made some of the BEST looking bread which she called
PAIN ORDINAIRE.
(Basic Bread)
*
Loving bread as I do, I just had to try it, too.
Penny didn't leave me a recipe so I googled
a recipe that sounded good....and easy...
and VERY few ingredients.
HER bread looked MUCH prettier
so I will beg her for that recipe..:))
*
I followed the recipe to a T..
*
Using my brand new BREAD HOOKS
that came with my new BLACK and DECKER
hand mixer.
OH HONEY...
The best, strongest, most heavy duty hand  mixer, ever !
I love it....(i don't get out much)
*

Here it is...
in all it's rising glory...
Oh, I do hope it rises.!
IT DID....not sure it rose enuf....but,
it did rise..
had a great texture...

APRICOT jelly, jam, perserves
is probably my very favorite...

and when I can have it with
fresh, homemade bread...
well....
I'm just in heaven.
This bread had a wonderful taste and I will make more for the holidays.
I'm sure it freezes well, too...

Thank you, ladies, for hosting.

  1. I made home made bread today too! Yours looks so goopd and doesn't it smell so good? It makes the whole house smell like a bakery. I love it hot with fresh butter:>)

  2. I can smell that luscious bread and my mouth is drooling! I have a bread machine but I haven't used it in a while. I used to make sourdough bread but that gets to be a hassle after a while. My weakness is bread, cookies and cake. You did a great job!

  3. When I say fresh homemade bread is one of my huge weaknesses I am not exaggerating! I can eat half a loaf by myself and not even know how it happened. This looks lucious fresh and toasted. It made a beautiful loaf.

  8. Oh, I think I could live on bread alone if it were fresh baked. My grandmother made bread every week. I still remember the aroma. Thanks for sharing this.

  9. I am definitely a bread-eater! Haven't made homemade bread in many years but you've made me want to think about doing it again soon. Looks yummy...only I'd need strawberry jam!

  10. Bj, Give me a carbohydrate and I am one happy girl. Your bread looks wonderful. I don't think you can beat homemade bread right out of the oven.

  19. bj, I love this post. And I love that you put wo(man. When my dgt. was a baby for some unknown reason she always referred to God as she. I loved that. The bread looks great and the photos of the bread maker very cool

  21. Well, dear lady ... I am hopeless when it comes to baking bread. I leave that chore to son #1 when he comes to visit. Have a great week.

  22. Ohhhhhhh so heavenly looking home made bread!

And the rolled up magazine in the last pic..... Don't you love Betty White's answers, in the article? What a lucky [to be so healthy] and super lady, is she! :-)

Pretty Christmas-y look here on your blog today/Sun. -giggles- I say the day, 'cause I know you'll be changing it again soon. Fun!!!

I'm pretty much changing my header pic, daily. :-)

  23. Good Grief! I forgot to holler at you, to rest and get both yourselves all well again!!! No more decorating, till you are all over the "ickiness." Auntie sezzzzzzzzzz! >,-)

Watermark mentioned by Blondie, in my Comments.... Ever notice some blogger's photos, have their name imprinted somewhere, on each and every one of their pics? [Or the name of their blog] That is supposed to mark them, as their own property/photos.

But like I said in my reply comment, who wants a "watermark" right smack-dab-in-the-middle of their photos? And if it's put down near the edge, it can be cropped off. And that defeats the purpose of bothering to put "your watermark/name" on your photos.

Some watermarks are very pale, and don't show up too much, in the middle of pics. But............

And thank you so much, for saying that you use a small artificial tree!!! Honestly, I am still not used to the quite small one, we just got. But it is soooooooooo much easier for 'Uncle A.'!!!!

But I really need to get to being content with it, myself. Thank you for saying you've done this change, already. Thank you. ..... Aren't I silly, to need to hear that someone else has done it, and for the same reasons? Silly me. Yes!

OK now! Go rest! 'Mr. Sweet' too! Rest and get all better! 'Cause Auntie sezzzzzzzzzzz!

  24. Home made bread is the best perfume!
Hard to stop eating it though! And then we get more rolls than a bakery! :)

  25. Wellllll great. I was just committed to dieting off my Thanksgiving festivities, and I clicked here.

Now, I want some homemade bread.
Actually, I'd settle for a slice of wonderbread right about now.

    Just kidding.
    It looks delicious.

  26. Oh, this looks fabulous! I used to make bread all the time, but that's another activity that went by the wayside when I took up photography! There is almost nothing like the smell of baking bread on a cold wintry day. Apricot everything is my very favorite too, probably because I remember my mom making apricot jam from our one apricot tree when I was growing up.

  27. I can almost smell it from East Texas! Wish I could have a bite. I use to make wheat loaves when my girls were young.
