I started collecting BLUE WINDMILL canister sets over 40 years ago..
and...I'm STILL in LOVE..
I have them all lined up
for your inspection.
Aren't the little blue ships on the side kinda cute....
I love the pretty writing on these pieces...
and some have prettier colors of blue than others...
This is one set of about 5 or 6...
So many that I have them in cardboard boxes in one of my closets..
the DECORATOR CLOSET, to be exact...haahhhaaa...what a hoot...
a DECORATOR closet !!
So many that I have them in cardboard boxes in one of my closets..
the DECORATOR CLOSET, to be exact...haahhhaaa...what a hoot...
a DECORATOR closet !!
I took advantage of our SUNNY, 76 degree weather...
AND, the beautiful, colorful leaves, to take some photo shots OUTSIDE...
Do you see those PECANS,
I have a whole tree full of them...:))
The round canisters are more rare than the others...
and this is the first and ONLY Raisins canister I've ever seen.
Anyone out there have one ?
I don't buy the " new for tourist" canister sets from HOLLAND..
To my knowledge, I don't have any pieces from HOLLAND...
I'd better remedy that !!
Mine come from GERMANY
and CZECHOSLOVAKIA, which no longer exist.
*
The following from the net...
Czechoslovakia or Czecho-Slovakia[1] (Czech and Slovak: Československo, Česko-Slovensko[2]) was a sovereign state in Central Europe which existed from October 1918, when it declared its independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, until 1992. From 1939 to 1945 the state did not de facto exist due to its forced division and partial incorporation into Nazi Germany, but the Czechoslovak government-in-exile nevertheless continued to exist during this period. In 1945 the eastern part of Carpathian Ruthenia was taken over by the Soviet Union. On 1 January 1993, Czechoslovakia peacefully split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Isn't that interesting.....
Isn't that interesting.....
All of my sets are
different but all have the blue and white windmill design.
I have given daughter a complete set....
and hope to have enough to give 7 granddaughters and a great-granddaughter a set...
*
Some of the transfer is much prettier than others...
as you can see in the above photo, there's 3 different styles of painting, lettering, windmill.
I have decided that the ones from GERMANY are the most beautiful.
**
When I first started collecting these beauties,
they were a LOT cheaper and more plentiful...
Now it is really hard to find the SETS..
I can find odd and end pieces, which I buy if they are in good shape and are authentic..
I've even been known to buy those NOT in good shape...
...just cause I love 'em..

DEEDS, my almost 9 year old granddaughter has developed
a love of taking food photos and sending them to me to go on my blog...
thank you, sweetheart.
*
Sooo, please enjoy these delicious donuts, courtesy of DEEDS..
she has even supplied us with
SUGAR AND CINNAMON
WARM, MELTED CHOCOLATE
and
POWDERED SUGAR
*
Our thanks to you, Deeds...!

ReplyDeleteWe have more in common than you think. While I don't collect those beautiful blue and white cannisters (you didn't leave any out there) blue is my favorite color and blue and white is my favorite color combination. Blue and yellow follow not far behind.
You have an awesome collection. I haven't toured your entire blog but I would like to see how you have them displayed. I look forward to our visits.

Grandchildren are the greatest gift from God. I could just picture this cutie, wanting to be like her grandma and wanting to be included on the blog. Oh, grandma, you are sooooo lucky.
