WORK DAY....BUMMER

I was such a SUPERGIRL
this day...
WORK
WORK
WORK !
*
...don't you LOVE this adorable suit...
and my shapely legs
and tiny feet !!..and the fact that my FACE is waaay not too big for my tiny shoulders...
*
This adorable suit was made JUST FOR MOI by my good good friend, PEA...
AND
*
she just made me another  most adorable HALLOWEEN suit..
If anyone hears of a HALLOWEEN PARTY, please...PLEASE let me know...

THAT'S ME IN MY NEW COSTUME IN MY HEADER...
*********************
OK THEN.... BACK to my WORK DAY...

I WORKED in my kitchen this day...
TRYING to corral stray lids to their own bowls...
*
DO YA'LL have this problem ?
I can not, for the life of me, come up with a good way to
keep lids and bowls together so that I have a LID that
fits the BOWL I just filled up with FOOD...!!
grrrr..
it is aggravating...

I got them back into a cabinet and they LOOK organized but...
it will last just about 15 minutes...
*
Please tell me how YOU keep track of all this without going nuts...

After I work doing things I don't much like to do,
I do something that I love to do....
change up things on tabletops...
AIN'T IT FUN !!

Every time Mr. Sweet brings in the mail and I have a new decorating magazine,
he finds something to do outside...or in his shop...
he KNOWS I am going to want to change things up a bit...
and he doesn't want to get in my way..!! lol
*
This is the cutest iron candle holder..
BAD photo, tho...
the glare of the lamp on the glasstop table, I guess....
*
Saw this one in ...hmmmm...either Pottery Barn or Country Living..

This is one of those that is just NEARLY pretty but just missed it.
I am working on it as we speak.....

Of course, by this time...
I'M HUNGRY
and one of my favorites...
just SHARP cheddar cheese on a couple rolls,
chips and lettuce...
No mayo, mustard or ketchup...
just dry...
...it just about GAGS Mr. Sweet ..he coughs every time I take a bite.
*
Oh, yes...I made some tiny little strawberry muffins...
and realized I didn't have any fresh STRAWBERRIES to eat with them...
bummer !
*
ahhh HA...!!!
My strawberry freezer jam....
*
OMGosh...if you've never made this
FREEZER JAM...
you are going to just love it.
It's just the taste of the SWEETENED fruit and it
taste JUST LIKE FRESH...!!
*
You do have to buy freezer proof little jars...
but you can use them over and over and over again.
**
Oh HONEY...!

Mmmm. Your food always looks amazing. I could absolutely enjoy that plate you made.

I corral the bowls and lids by reducing the amount that we have periodically. We had reached the point of too many awhile back so I made sure everything had a bowl and lid. Any mismatches were disposed of. Also, I'm mostly using glass pyrex bowls now. They stack nicely and are much easier to keep track of.

I love strawberries, yum!

I used a black marker and I numbered each bowl and matching lid with the same number. (If you have several of the same size then you could mark all the bowls and all the lids with the same number).

Then you can store the lids underneath the bowls or next to the bowls or in a plastic container or something and they're real easy to find.

Lids disappear as quickly as socks around here. I don't know what happens to them.

You've been one busy lady today. It's laundry day at my house....that reminds me, I think it's time to change loads. La

Bj, I guess you have been busy..saving the world and all! Love your outfit. I've always wondered what happens to all my lids? I can organize and match and the next week it is back to the same mess.

I tried send you and email but it came back to me. Cote De Texas blog has a similar butter slab for sale on her sidebar. Hope this helps.

Cute costumes! I love to change things up at home also. My house is so tiny now that I can't do it like I use to though. I do enjoy looking at the changes you make to yours!

I only buy square containers, because they stack into themselves and into my cabinets better. I keep all the lids standing in a basket near the bottom containers. I had to try different things until I finally found this one that seems to work for me. Good luck!

YUMMY to the strawberry muffins! You look so cute in the costumes..have fun with all that! I have just about thrown out all my plastic containers and lids..can't stand the clutter! I'll make do with plastic wrap! All the change looks good too..that is fun! Come say hi :D

BJ,
You look great in your costumes! I also liked the books in the cloche and the beautiful white pumpkin and dishware.
I just keep a very few plastic containers. That way they are easy to store!

Linda (More Fun Less Laundry) said...

bj, this is exactly why I love coming to your blog! Where else could I find poodle skirt paste ups, problems with plastic containers, pottery barn decor and cheese on dry bread all in one place? I love it! Linda

Kathleen Grace said...

it looks like you actually had a very fun day BJ:>) Those darn plastic containers have been a curse to me for years. Just like you I couldn't figure out a good way to store them. I finally got a see through plastic bint hat would slide into the bottom of the cupboard and a separate little plastic basket form the dollar store that goes ont he shelf above the containers and that is where I keep the lids. At least everything is together and I can usually find the components separately rather than having to dig through a mess in the cupboard! Hope this helps:>)

Beeeeeej,
You poor little thing, having to do all that work and in that costume, too! Why don't you just have another cheese sandwich and call it quits! That is what I would do--hehe

My plastic containers are a balancing act in a cabinet. As you said, you can organize them and 5 minutes later they are all messed up again! But they are a STAPLE!!

I love the way you are always switching things around, BJ. It IS so much fun! And the magazines are such an inspiration. I love what you did with the cloche!

Janie

Hi BJ, stopped by to say hi... your pictures are lovely and you look so cute on the outfit!! Love your table tops too... very pretty!!

Have a great weekend!!

You're funny. I have the same problem with the tupperware/gladware stuff. It's why I am not replacing any of it preferring to go with saran wrap and glass bowls. I do like those vintage refrigerator dishes that are rectangular and square shaped. When I find them within price range, I grab them. Love all the vignettes that you create and your meals always look healthful and yummy. That your hubby coughed with every bite is so cute.

BJ...you are so clever changing out your table...I need to do more of that around here. I tend to get stuck in a rut...thanks for the inspiration. :) I've never heard of freezer jam...gotta try it!

BJ, great costume! LOL
You table vignettes look great. Like you, I love to play and move things about. ;-)

Well, Aren't you just the cutest thing... in both costumes :)
So, as I was reading, I was reminded of once my college son told me his tupperware cupboard would never be a mess. I am dying to look in my DIL's cupboard just to see... :) (of course I would NEVER... :)

Love the costume, you look so cute, BJ! Your vignettes are really pretty...Christine

First, I love the new look of your blog for the fall!

I solved the lid thing by repurposing them for storage for non-food items, and moved them to the garage. They are in two bins -- lids in one, bowls in the other. I have decided I no longer want my food in plastic. I save wide mouth jars that things like pickles and sauce come in. I take off the labels, and then let them go through the DW a couple of times to make sure the odor is gone. I also bought a few pyrex storage containers with snap on lids. I just keep the lid on and stack them. Having fewer containers means less mess.

Great post. I have so many things to like. Your costume is awesome with the girlie figure. wink

Great costumes! You'll be the star of the parties!
I have the same challenge with those containers and lids. I have the added challenge of an overhead cupboard for them, so that when things get out of hand I get hit in the head by lids when I open the cupboard door.

Sonny G said...

well SuperGal, you sure made some pretty vignettes.. Love them all but my fav is the birdie candle holder and those beautiful harlequin lampshades...
I hate to admit I have a box under one of my kitchen cabs where I put the bowls and lids and try to think of it as a treasure hunt when I need to hunt for the pieces that match lol...

Freezer jam...I will have to try that! Your costumes had me in stitches...so cute.

You are a hoot! Love the costumes...even though they don't fit your head very well-LOL.

Don't even get me started on plastic bowls and lids!!! I send so many leftovers home with my girls and their guys when they come home for dinner. Getting them back doesn't always mean both pieces, evidently.

Love the wrought iron candle holder!

Great looking food!

Love your costume, LOL, and yes you must be Supergirl if you csan keep all those plastic things organized. I can't. Now I just keep them in ziploc bags so they aren't all over the place!

great post, enjoyed it :)

Your house looks so pretty.
Yes, I have a cupboard full of plastic containers with lids all over the place. I have been slowly replacing them with glass. I found some really great glass storage containers at Sam's Club with great snap on lids.
Smiles.

Bj, you're going to be the star of All Hallows Eve in your darling costumes!! I can almost taste that jam with those strawberry muffins. Yummy ~ going to have to try that freezer jam. But I scrolled down to the last entry about the Rodeo and your 5 beautiful Granddaughters--I have 5 who range in age from 2 - 7 and I LOVE it when they are here. I sat here putting my Fabulous 5's faces to your 5's bodies, just imaging how it will be when they are the age of yours. So much fun, I'm sure; but I think I'll keep them little as long as possible!! Always love snooping around at your house!

Cute costumes! I solved the lid thing a few years ago by storing each lid WITH its container. I put them on, but don't seal them. And I store them in deep bottom drawers, not upper cabinets. I'm phasing out plastic containers in preference for glass - I buy the Pyrex containers with plastic lids now when they are on sale or use jars.

For freezer containers (still plastic but I'm working on that) I do store them stacked, lids separately, in a rectangular basket according to size.

Like you, I prefer no butter, mayo or anything on my sandwiches!

Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions said...

You are not alone with the lid issue! I now try to keep them stacked and then stack the lids right on top. It works for some of those Glad type containers. The other ones just get put neatly into a large plastic bowl.

Your tabletop displays look so nice. I like the glass dome with the books. I bought a clock last week that had the dome at a yard sale and I remade it into a cloche. Right now I just have a nest and egg under mine, but I'm looking forward to putting some Christmas things under it.

My container closet explodes periodically, no matter how often I organize it, it scrambles up in no time!
Love your new outfit!

We must trade freezer jam!! I'll trade you my Oregon blackberry & blueberry....freezer jam is just the best. My lids are a mess and no matter how often I try to organize them, in a week they are back to a mess.
