That Pottery Barn...they sure know how to strut their stuff.....

POTTERY BARN
has several found  items in their catalog...
FOUND meaning vintage, I am assuming....
WHATever it means...they do have some pretty cool things...
*
Wouldn't you LOVE to find a crate like this ?
I sure would...Pretty expensive..
*
Bet a really nice, wooden COKE box would look awesome, too...you could add some rusty or even rope handles on each end. ...........Now THAT would be so cute...
I am going to start looking for one.
*
On someone's blog, I noticed that they BUILT a crate to their liking...
Now...that's a great idea...
Oh, yes...NOW  I remember that it was
that made the above fabulous CRATE...
go over and see just how she made it and then lets build ourselves one....
 *
Most of you know how much I LOVE coping POTTERY BARN
with my thrifted  items...it just doesn't take much to entertain moi.
*
LEFT:  POTTERY BARN woven wine bottles...$99 to $279.00
RIGHT:  SWEET NOTHING'S ....thrifted for $2.00 to $6.00
and MR. SWEET dug up the olden, thick dark green glass bottle so.....free..
*
I just learned from SALLY that these woven bottle holders are called
demijohns...
"Demijohn is an old word that formally referred to any glass vessel with a large body and small neck, enclosed in wickerwork". ....from the net.
**
Now, I just HAVE to add SHELIA'S comment on Sally's DEMIJOHN post...
"HI Sally! I didn't know what a demijohn was - I was thinking a small portable toilet! :)" lol...
oH, Shelia..you silly silly girl...
*
 vintage rake from POTTERY BARN
$129.00
whew....I would love one of these wooden rakes...really cool looking
*
Heck...I'd REALLY like some of those beautiful FALLEN leaves..
We just don't have many of these out in WEST TEXAS..
they surely are pretty....
*
and while I'm at it...
I'd love having a bench, hat rack and a pot of lovely flowers..just like theirs. :)).
I am soooo WANTING everything...everything life has to offer...I WANT IT. !
*
I do hope that you know what is MOST IMPORTANT in this world, I do have...and I am very thankful for them all.
*
MORE of those demijohns...
POTTERY BARN...top left...
bj's....bottom left
*
just having fun with it....
These are vintage PIZZA BOARD PADDLES...aren't they so interesting...
$129.00 EACH...
I love just about ANY kind of signs...and especially killer ones like these...
$69.00
**
O, all you talented ladies out there that can paint..
I am GREEN with envy..!!
A couple of  vintage BULB TRAYS...
I'm in love...
$99.00...so it will continue to be a love affair from  afar...:)
Now, People...
I would LOVE to find one of these that I could afford...so so cute.
$129. to $199.00...talk about adding texture and personality to your room...!!
...for the life of me, i couldn't spend two hundred dollars for a pizza board... just couldn't do it.!!
************

POTTERY BARN
They have so many pretty things
and can sit a table that looks
                               like a million dollars.
We just can't always do that....
If you like something in a catalog but don't have
the neccessary THINGS they are showing....copy it..
Choose something else that's interesting
and different...
For instance, I am using this
VINTAGE SHOT BAG to house a
an extra special bottle of wine...
****

FOUND items, whether they are from
Pottery Barn, that can be a bit pricey,
OR
GOODWILL, garage sales, other thrifty places, and our own LAND of ETSY,
are so so cute to use on your tables...
something a little different from all the others...
and I LOVE that !!.....don't you?
.*

I KNOW
POTTERY BARN
doesn't "do" CAKES....
but......if they DID...they would look like this !!

I love your post. I have two of the woven jugs but did not know what they were called. Thanks for the education. I am using them for Fall decor and maybe on Thanksgiving table. I love Pottery Barn too but I think your blog is as inspirational. Thanks for sharing.

I have to get on PB's mailing list - I can see that I'm missing out on a lot of inspiration. You are much more inspiration because you know how to do it just as well on a budget. Have a great weekend. Sally

What a great post! Hey I found a coke/soda box at a junk store with junk in it. You can find old rakes...old farm tools...and old wooden things. Look for a dingy type antique store and you might just find some things you are looking for. And usually in those older stores they don't charge as much for junk...that you can make cute!!!
Yipeee, you had a great post. Love it.

BJ, if you ever find another demijohn for under $10, buy it for me, let me know and I will pay you for the demijohn and shipping! They cost at least $35 -$75 here! Your's are a dead ringer!

I have a pizza paddle I bought at maybe Beds Bath and Beyond or some where a while back. I bought it to mosaic. It is very new pale wood. But now I think I just might glaze it and beat it up a little....

Great ideas!
Hugs,
Penny

I have just started seeing those demijohns in blogland. I have never seen one in person before - at a thrift store or antique store - nowhere. I was beginning to think it was a Southern thing.

I love seeing the beautiful things in places like Pottery Barn but then finding something that I like even better for less! Love your ideas! Decorating is more fun when we share ideas! Hugs! ♥

I look and drool too, but I am with you, I really can't make myself pay those kinds of prices. I did find a wonderful demijohn at goodwill. That was a real find. Now I just have to try and copy some of their other things. Great post. Hugs, Marty

Your free green bottle is fabulous and you NAILED the look! I have bought one thing from PB on sale with free shipping and now I get the catalogs so I can drool but would never pay full price. hugs♥olive

Bj, your decorating looks every bit as good as the pricey stuff, and doesn't it make you feel good to know you didn't waste all that money? If I spent that much on something I would think I had to keep it forever, and what fun is that? I couldn't change things up all the time! I do love PB for their ideas though. Their catalogs are loaded with inspiration.

Oh BJ, that stuff is EXpensive:) I am more like you in that I will find something MUCH cheaper to get the look I want!

Love the pizza boards and the crates!

Thanks for the inspiration! HUGS!

Hi BJ, I also love browsing PB but then I come home and try to copy them! I have been on the search for one of the old pizza boards for quite a while but not at PB price. When you have time drop by to see a recent post on my $2.00 demijohn.
xoxo, Sherry

BJ I love PB everything too and yes they are pricey. You have some nice demijohns there girl. You know I love me some demijohns. My collection is slowly growing and I have not paid as much as PB prices either. I have seen those pizza boards and paddles cheaper at the antique stores.

Kathleen said...

Well you know I am at the PB outlet almost every week. BUT, even there so much is way overpriced. I wait them out for the sale. I wouldn't pay the prices they ask, it's nice, but not all that! :)
Fun post!

I also get the catalogs and dream dream dream but occasionally actually purchase, usually very small items. We now have a Pottery Barn where I live and I think it's "a sign" because do you know where it is.....right across the street from my gym!!! Does life get any better than that???

Just back from Savannah and trying to catch up with some blog visits tonight. This all looks great, BJ. Makes me want to follow your inspiration trail and pull together some of these ideas. ;-)

You just crack me up! I love the way you post. I am too cheap to shop at the Pottey Barn. I remember when my niece married several years ago. She wanted these plain water glass kinda looking wine stems from PB. I am a Princess House person. Their trademark Heritage cut into the glass is fabulous. But they are becoming obsolete. No want has the artistic desire to create hand blown stem ware. Ah..so sad :(

I look forward to getting my PB catalog just so I can try to recreate some of their vignettes and wall arrangements. It's all inspiration. And it does go on sale...that's why I shop online at their clearance section.

You have done such a great job recreating those demi johns. Love it, BJ!!!!

This post is a feast for the eyes...and not just because my crate is there (thank you my friend!). I have so many more crate ideas and just got a wood burning tool to try out on them.

I want to make one of those signs next! Thanks for the eye candy and inspiration!
