sweet dreams....baby....

Back in the late winter, I re-decorated a tiny guest bedroom...

I did it in just my colors...White, with touches of black and red.

(The chalkboard up there on the wall says,

"NIGHT NIGHT..SLEEP TIGHT..DON'T LET THE BEDBUGS BITE"

I am still very happy with this sassy little room....
*

This is my little PITIFUL PEARL other guest bedroom that I am planning to CHANGE...
(and, YES...that's a BORDER up there...*shame-faced and wringing hands..)
*
I've enjoyed the summery comforter and pillows but......
I know EXACTLY what I want to do in there now...
*
As some of you know, here at SWEET NOTHINGS, we do things
on a strict budget..
a SOCIAL SECURITY budget.
soooo...
*
For the last few months, I have bought
ONE THING AT A TIME
for my DREAMY ROOM for our sweet cousins, when they visit...
*

New checked bedskirt...EBAY

Scalloped white coverlet...Penneys

Checked Euro shams...Linen Source

Red fabric...Joanns (I can make plain, simple pillows but not with a coveted RUFFLE..:(
**

I am just putting everything into my BIG RED BASKET........
*
Basically the same look....
I actually COVET the one on the right...I call it's name in my dreams...want it really BAD.....
I just need to SAVE a little more money for that
AWESOME
Red floral coverlet with black and white check on the other side....
$119.00....but it will go on SALE sometime and maybe I can snatch it !
( know what else I LUV in this photo....? Those creamy white painted WOODEN walls. YUM)
*
In the meantime...
the look on the left is good for me, too....;-))
altho........
I haven't found the big checked coverlet/throw they are showing across the foot of the beds.
MAYBE I can make one...*cringe and swallow hard....
*
I DID find a comforter at *GULP...the thrift store that I bought a few weeks back...
I washed it, lots of fresh sunshine softner and dried it and it looks great...
Not anywhere NEAR what I want but.....you know....I can fold it across the foot of the bed.....
it will FILL IN until ............
just say'n....
**
My full size vintage iron bed is WHITE...
these photos are showing BLACK beds..hmmm....I'm not sure about that yet...
I have a white wicker loveseat that will go in there...black, white and red pillows ...
*just daydreaming here...
*

*heavy sigh and swoony face.....it's just so stinkin' cute ~!
*i also love the casual way it is "made up" rather
than the stiff, everything perfect bed....
am i just a slob, ya think?
i luv things that aren't all stiff and everything in it's place...
weird, i know....but.....
**
You know what I just LOVE...
I love the fact that I'm an OLDEN woman and still get excited about a pretty bedroom!!
AIN'T LIFE GRAND !!
hugs and kisses to all of you!!

Just goes to show that there's lots of wonderful life to live...when we get excited about something, it's showing our "youth"...I love your dream room and I'm betting yours will come out even better than that one!!!

Oh you have gathered so many gorgeous things for the bedroom. YOur red, black and white one is just perfect and the new one you are doing will be so stunning. Just a thought, maybe look for a flat sheet in one of those fabulous florals and then put a comforter inside it all sew up like a pillow case. That could be doable on a budget. Mine is SS too, so I really do have to improvise. Hope you have a super day and can't wait to see the room all done. Hugs, Marty

So much of the fun of it is planning and daydreaming and enjoying the process of the transformation!
Beautiful rooms, looking forward to seeing yours!

BJ, life is garnd, and you know that all that black and white check goodness going on is making my heart swoon. I've always dreamed of a black and white room with touches of red. Don't have one in our home and not sure where I could. But you have me dreaming! Dreaming BIG!
This is going to look fabulous. ~ sarah

Are you kidding, bj??? Yes, I know there are those that like things all perfect..but, I am not one of them..and to hear you say that..sob!...lets me know I am not alone...sob!...in this world!! :)
(tears of relief dripping off my tiny chin!) Ok, so it's a bit of a double chin, but it just feels so good to know others love that easy comfy style...
When I take pictures...I try to ..um fold the afghans instead of just tossing them...etc.
LOVED this post! The colors...sigh..all of it. Wonderful. My guest room is still in the pinks, rose reds etc, and like you, we are on a SS budget. I am pleased that we were able to do what we have just finished a few months ago.
So....is your NEW tablecloth out yet, hmmmmm??
Love and hugs,
Mona

Hi BJ! Thanks for checking on me. :) School is going just great!

Now let me tell you, I have no doubt at all that you will pull that bedroom together beautifully. Everything you do turns out fabulous. There's no sign of a social security budget there. Can't wait to see it all come together.

Oh it is going to look lovely! It is very sweet now, not pitiful at all!
Myself, I am looking for a nice bedspread with lined drapes to match. I am tired of the quilt, skirt, pillow look! I will keep looking!

LOL What is about beautiful beds and linens that make us just swoon? I can't wait to see yours when it's all done. I'm betting it will be sooner than later. I'm just in love with your dream bedding! Why does that junk have to cost so much? I don't work anymore so I know how you feel! I love that you have just been buying a piece at a time. I need to do that too. I bought a new set back in January. I paid way to much for it and guess what it's still in the pack and I have found another set that I liek now and it cost more! UGH!!!!

Good luck getting your bedding!!! I really love all the different patterns!

Oh I LOVE what you've done!! And are going to do! THat's a fabulous look and you've got the eye to capture it. It's so fun creating on a budget. It makes us think about every piece and what it can do for our interpretation of "the look". Your cousins will feel very comfortable and pampered! I would!!

BJ- Your room looks fantastic the way it is! You can finish it gradually, adding more as you find it. The inspiration pic is truly comfy- I like "messy" - simply because I can never achieve a smooth looking "perfect" bed. LOL
Yours will get where you want it- just give it time, my friend.
hugs, Sue

Ya BJ!!! I love that messed up bed look too...makes me want to crawl right in rather than pry those stiff looking sheets apart...don't you think? I love your inspiration room and the other one too. You've got a good start on your new room and you did it in such a frugal way too. It's come to the point where hubby and I need to start doing things like that...save and buy things as they come on sale only when we can afford it. Time to put the old credit card away and use it only for emergencies. I guess that's part of living the simple life that I think most of us are striving for. You're a good example BJ! Have fun gathering your things to 'feather your nest' and have a wonderful day.
Maura :)
