BLACK and WHITE and CANDLELIGHT...

I KNOW you remember this from MARTY'S CLOCHE PARTY.
We had such fun...
and after I played around with my CLOCK dome,
I decided to do a tablescape with it... before I took it all apart..:)
*
BLACK AND WHITE AND CANDLELIGHT...
*
Plain and simple white plates beneath a cake dome...
* Vintage pistol handled flatware...no idea who makes this...

Same black and white plates, place mats, napkins...
When I first started LOVING to play in tablescapes,
I promised myself that I wouldn't buy dishes JUST FOR TABLESCAPES..
I sure would LIKE to, tho...
there's so many pretty things out there...*sigh
*
Social Security budget just prohibits a lot of things that we really don't need.
*

Sooo, I use what I have...
and I thrift a lot...
and, actually, I LOVE thrifting so much..
...the thrill of the hunt, ya know..:)
**
I love this big lion head tureen..from GoodWill..
*
I've always liked silver with white...
Like fresh, sparkly snow...
I absolutely LOVE the magic of CANDLES...
*
I think most everyone loves candles.
Little tiny WHITE SALT CELLERS
found at GOODWILL...6 for a dollar...

Now, I am CALLING them salt cellers...
not really sure just what they are but...
they will hold salt...or a candle...or nuts..or candies...
I just thought they were cute.
My thrifted glasses...

*
My sweet daughter made the most delightful meal for us..
We started off with her homemade BROCCOLI and CHEDDAR soup..
sprinkled with herb croutons...
sooo delicious.

A MUSHROOM and ONION FRITTATA
that just melted in our mouths...
Fresh CORN FRITTERS and garden veggies added to the deliciousness...
"Where did you learn to cook like this, little girl?...It surely wasn't from me."
*

I CAN, however, make a CHOCOLATE PUDDING.....
*
...served with WHIPPED CREAM, piled HIGH..
*

...and ALWAYS served in the prettiest of glasses...
*
On the outside...looking in..
*
*sigh...such a lovely time...
*
Magical candles on a dark FALLISH night..
Early mornings and late evenings and nights have taken on a little NIP
out here in WEST TEXAS...
a few trees have changing leaves but...not many yet.
*
If you're ever IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD...
please stop by SWEET NOTHINGS...
**
I'll always have a place at the table for you...

  1. I want to come to your house for dinner! Your table looks wonderful! I have that same lions head tureen, I think....tell me what it says on the bottom. I got mine at a thrift store too. Originally it sells at William Sonoma for something like $139.00....if it is the same one!

    There's something about it.

    This table is great!

(And my budget requires that I work with what I have or thrift too. I'm in your club. Good thing I play dishes with my mother and sister, yes?)
