Now, I have to say that I am always SHOCKED at the prices of
a scoop of ICE CREAM but...
it's just a sign of the times, I think.
*
I think we paid almost five BUCKS for this baby ! ...but...it was B.I.G.
*
Of course, I still remember my mama making
HOMEMADE ICE CREAM...
with me always getting to sit on top of the freezer..
on an old blanket, keeping the ice from melting so fast....
*
We make HOMEMADE ice cream every summer, too...
but it's with an ELECTRIC freezer....
not the old CRANK TYPE....Good grief...I doubt that I would even know HOW to make it in an old fashioned crank ice cream freezer.
**
I happen to like SHERBET more than ice cream...
This is RASPBERRY...
with 7-UP
and I'm pretty sure it's what the angels in Heaven drink....
I had some sherbet I posted about a couple weeks ago...
seems like it was CHERRY and LEMON SWIRL....and it was delicious...
This RASPBERRY....sooo good !
A long time ago, SLIM AND TRIMmade an ICE MILK that Mr. Sweet and I really loved..
It tasted more like the old fashioned HOMEMADE....
*
Wonder why they quit making it ??
*
Sometimes, ICE CREAM is a little TOO rich for me...
but not for MR. SWEET. He can eat it ALL DAY LONG...The man loves his ice cream!
I'm looking forward to our firstFREEZER of ice cream this summer...
Surely it won't be too long.......not if MR. SWEET has HIS way about it !!
I am playing with
BEVERLY for PINK SATURDAY
and since ICE CREAM/SHERBET is a favorite thing,
LAURIE for A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...

Ohhh, a banana split...been a long time since I've had one of those. Great pics, BJ! My fav icecream to make in our icecream churn is either peach or peppermint. Yum!
I just did a post with a recipe for home made ice cream...and it is SO good! Who wouldn't like ice cream...I'm headed to the freezer right now! Chocolate rocky road is calling my name! LOL Come say hi :D
BJ, I want a great big serving of chocolate! What I wouldn't give for some ice cream right about now. And Susan says peach from a churn... YUM!
Make mine a double!
Happy Pink Saturday...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Love ice cream and sherbets. My mother always made homemade sherbet out of unsweetened kool-aid, a cup or sugar, and two cups of milk. We froze it in an aluminum ice tray, then took it out and mashed it to blend the flavor. Back into the freezer till solid. Then we would enjoy! Can you tell I grew up in the 50's?
I SHOULD NOT have read this at this time of night. I am such a ice cream addict and this is such a yummy post! Those signs are..so....wait...what a cute idea...and HOW on earth did you find all those places with YOUR name??? YOU BE SOOO CLEVER!!!
:):)
Love and hugs,
Mona
BJ, your "sign" pictures are sooo That banana split looks so good - Now I'm wishing I had some bananas, so I could plop some scoops on it right now. My husband eats a big bowl every night (and he is sooo skinny!) I may have to join him tonight, but MY hips will show it if I start that! Thank you for linking this cute post to Favorite Things Saturday. laurie
I think we all have such sweet memories of ice cream treats as a child. I remember my grandmothers signature summer drink of vanilla ice cream and 7-up. We would come in from a hot day working on the farm and she would make us a float, I don't think I ever tasted anything so divine:>)
Bj....you are killing me with all your deliciousness!!!! Talk about a Texas size banana split, oh my!!!
I'm with you, can't wait for that first freezer of homemade ice cream!!!
I'll join you with one of the sherbert drinks, looks yummy. My memories take me back to the lake at summer sitting on the dock eating hand churned ice cream. -Thanks for the memory.

My friend Bonnie and her hubby make the most awesome ice cream (using an electric churn)....I could live on that stuff!

I used to work in an ice cream parlor making floats, splits malts etc....I LOVE rootbeer floats!
Hugs,
Penny
BJ's looks very fun! In Germany every village has an ice cream parlor - always tiny and always family owned. Each scoop is right @ 50 euro cents - about 70 cents each. We were regulars at our local Eis store! Yummo!
Hi BJ
Yes, ice cream is probably in the top 10 for me. I would be a hot fudge sundae girl, and if you wanted to throw in a brownie I wouldnt turn it down. Great post.
Have a great weekend.

Hello sweet BJ,
Oh how cool you found a place with your name on it! Yum, homemade ice cream! Have a great weekend!
hugs,
Debbie
I can remember when my first son was little. My Mother and I used to go to an ice cream parlor on Saturday afternoon, after shopping was done for the week. I would order a banana split and (I've always loved banana splits) we would share it. Never could eat one by myself. Than came the day he ate more than I did. That was the last time we shared our ice cream. Fun I remember that day.I don't think I've ever had a banana split as good as that one at that ice cream parlor years ago. Nothing today taste as good as it did 40 years ago.
Lover of chocolate ice cream :)
Grandma

Oh BJ...that banana split looks delicious! You know something...I've NEVER EVER had a banana split in my whole life. Nope...I had a spoonful of one once but just never ordered one of my own. Maybe this summer I'll take the plunge and get one. That sherbert float sure looks good...now I'm thirsty! I hope you have a wonderful Sunday...Maura:)
BJ, I haven't had ice cream for months! So this all looks really, really good..... I actually bought a small ice cream maker and want to create some different varieties of ice cream this summer. I love anything w/chocolate, or nuts, or fruit.... Gee is there anhti=thin else Yum! Gotta exercise some control here or I will be doing tons of exercise classes to make up for the damages I've done. LOL
Yummy! Ice cream just happens to be my dessert of preference.
Must be from all those years as a kid turning the crank on the ice cream bucket, mouth watering, just waiting for that cool sweet treat.
Have a blessed Sunday, dear BJ.
Hugs,
Liz @ the Brambleberry Cottage
Raspberry Sherbet with 7Up! What an idea!
Because although I love the old fashioned Root Beer with Ice Cream Float.... Being lactose intolerant makes me shy-away from ice cream.
But... Sherbet isn't dairy! And it sounds yummmmmmmmy! Thank you!
>^_^<

Hi bj, my nickname in college was cj.It worked just great.
I am just getting my blog connected to the world and it is nice to know there are people out there. It was so quiet.
Have you ever done frozen yogurt ? I love that to pieces as I can't do ice cream. :-(
Stop over anytime as I don't get to far away from the computer. I am lucky as I don't have to share it with 5 other people.
have a nice holiday weekend.
