.....swingin' in the rain

ANOTHER RAINY DAY
IN WEST TEXAS...
(4/15)
**
With all the great moisture we received throughout the winter,
and with several good spring rains,
our part of the country is getting GREEN !!
As of 4/17, we have had 3 straight days of non-stop rain...WOO HOO !!
This has been THE WETTEST year ...ON RECORD....EVER, for WEST TEXAS.
We are all so THANKFUL for every drop..
*
I always put my houseplants outside to get a bit of that good water from Heaven.
**
In the OLDEN days, people caught RAIN water in barrels...
RAIN BARRELS...
I don't have a barrel to catch it in
but I have this huge CROCK that works just great !
It was raining so hard when I took this photo that the top of the
water looks like WAVES.....
GOTTA LOVE IT !!
**
SWINGING in the rain is about as good as it gets...
the only thing better....

Plenty of DUNKIN DONUT COFFEE !!
**
Now one might think me SILLY to light a candle out here on
my loved front porch..in the middle of the morning.
*
But with it being CLOUDY...and wet....and wonderful,
this candle looked GREAT !

The BEST BLUEBERRY MUFFINS....
a stick of low fat STRING cheese (I LOVE this stuff )
and BACON....
ALWAYS bacon!
*

NO TIME TO WASTE....

At my age, there really IS no time to waste.
I want to take advantage of every
single thing I can....
*
Just swinging in my porch swing, snacking from a wonderful tray of goodies..
reading a few lines in a good book...
*
This might SOUND like I am "wasting time" but...Oh, no...
It's never ever a waste of time when you are doing something you absolutely DELIGHT in doing.
*
Life is waaay too short not to partake of the delights in life...
the delights that are GOD given.
HE WANTS us to be happy and HE has supplied so many wonderful things for each of us to delight in.

The lovely flowers from our
50th ANNIVERSARY have
been so beautiful these past few days.
I remove the wilted ones daily and then make pretty LITTLE vases of them...

The large arrangement was one of the prettiest I've ever seen.
I am pressing a couple of flowers in a book....When they are dried and pressed, I'll slip them in with my Anniversary Book and all the pretty cards I received.
Knowing my sentimental self,
I will relive this anniversary for the rest of my life.
It makes me want to fall to my knees in thankfulness again and again.
I am so blessed...
*
and I KNOW IT !!

****

**
I am wondering WHY orange juice tastes about
1000 times better when served in a pretty little
crystal champagne glass ..!..?
**
oops...my new BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS
got a bit wet this morning....
**

O !! and did you notice .......
there's TWO muffins !!

You didn't think I would forget YOU, did ya ?

My thanks to all the ladies that allow us this fun time each and every week.
*NOTE
PLEASE SWING BY AND WISH QUEENMOTHER MAMAW
A HAPPY 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY..IT IS THIS COMING FRIDAY.

Oh BJ your pictures are so beautiful. I think lighting the candle is the best. My swing is in a gazebo on the patio. The next time I go out with my coffee I am going to light a candle. Hey and thanks for the shout out. I am getting so excited about the party. These kids have done so many little special things and contacting people to get the details. I just hear a little here and there. I can't wait for all the folks back in my hometown to meet my children. Blessings.

I think it's not only ok to light candles during the day but they should be. They always look so pretty with that little flicker of flame burning.

Your morning looked wonderful. A little bit of heaven on earth if you ask me.

Joanne

You make even a rainy day look so pretty. :) I'm glad y'all have gotten some rain. You know my parents both live down around Austin and Houston. For the last few years they've had the most horrible drought but they've caught up now too. Thank Heavens! The world is much better with real rain. :)

Great post, BJ!

Our rain is coming in tomorrow...it will rain until Sunday if it goes as predicted. A lot of the time we get Texas weather a few days after it passes through there. We are headed to the lake Sunday to pick up the wicker chest of drawers, at the condo. Had to be sure the weather is dry before hauling it home.

We are "gardening" this week. Want everything in, in time for the rain. We hit the ground running, Monday morning, after one day of rest from our drive home from TN.

I'm trying to catch up with my blog visits! Lots of catching up to do...been very busy days for us.

Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful pics with us! And those muffins look yummy! I am a new follower and am looking forward on catching up. have a blessed day!

One of the many things I miss about Texas are the rainstorms, especially when it is warm enough to sit out and enjoy it. What a terrific post and how attractive you make your porch swing. Thanks for sharing yourself with us.

BJ-I love your 50th ann. picture! You two are TOO cute!! Personally, I don't consider time in a swing wasted time. I consider it a mental health break! Is that an Antiqua (sp?) cup and saucer. I think that was my everyday pattern I picked out as a bride. I have VERY little of it left, but even then I loved cream and white dishes!

Your porch swing looks so inviting! I'm glad you have gotten lots of rain this year, Ithink we are behind, it's actually been a very dry April in Michigan. I would like to sit right down on that swing with you and share that tray! It looks good:>)

I want a porch swing like that! Complete with the muffins and flowers! Just lovely!

I just love your still using your flowers, and I love Swingin in the rain! I love the tray set up with the lovely dishes, and those muffins and bacon! Yes, love the orange juice in the champagne glass. I love the the pillows on the swing! My 4 year old granddaughter says a white candle fell on your plate. lol The cheese. If I knew they would stay clean, I would have pillows on my swing! With grands and hubby I afraid they would stay muddy. I have to run the chickens off the porch too. lol
