AFTERNOON DELIGHT....TEA

4/20/10
TEAS could not be more fun !!
**
For a long time....I HAD NO TEAPOTS...NOT EVEN ONE...
That's right...
I WAS TEAPOTLESS .
**
Some of you might remember that I found this ADORABLE transferware tea set at
one of my favorite HAUNTS.....
GOODWILL
...let's hear it for GOODWILL !!
*
Doesn't the TEA POT look all REGAL !!
It almost looks as if the CREAMER and SUGAR BOWL are bowing to the QUEEN TEA....
*
I really did fall in love with it the very instant I saw it and
when they said $7.00 for all....
WELL.....I just got dizzy...!!
*

There's no cups with the set but I don't have to have matching everything....

I am having such fun with all these delightful table settings and teas...
It is FANTASY at it's FINEST !
Just love it !!!
**
Mr. Sweet loves it too..... because he loves all these fruits and sweets !
SO MUCH FOR OUR DIET !!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*sigh....
I only have ONE lacy tea cloth and you will be seeing it many times, I'm sure..
*
...i do love this pretty lacy tea cloth my sister in law bought for me....
Her name was MARILEE and we were as close as sisters...and she died
last year. (I know I mentioned this in my last TEA post)!!
*
I miss her so much and always will...
my heart has a lot of cracks..
......but it is still holding together ....ONLY because GOD is always with me.
how folks that don't have GOD beside them can endure losses
like this is beyond me !
*
RED AND WHITE POLKA DOTS...
they make my heart sing..
*
Doesn't this look all summery and cool...
I can't think of anything that makes me smile quicker than POLKA DOTS..and white wicker...
.....and white wicker tea carts..
...white wicker tea carts draped in lacy tea cloth....
with red transferware teapots...!!
I am linking with these MAGNIFICENT memes....
Oh I love the teapot set--can't believe you got that for 7 bucks. Our Godwill never seems to have good deals!! I also can't believe you have a nice tea catty or whatever you call it.
The pokadots do look so happy and inviting. I love the idea of the pineapple with the cherry (on skewers?--looks fantastic and I can eat those!!)
Sorry about the loss of your sister, that would be hard. I still have mine.
Now, that is the most wonderfully, fabulous tea setting I have ever seen! Love the red and white tea set, the polka dot pillows and the beautiful lace. It is so nice that you have that lace as a memory of your sister in law. I know it brings bittersweet thoughts each time you use it.
Hugs,
Penny
BJ, Another wonderful post! Your photos are stunning. You set up a perfect tea party! Love your teapot, sugar and creamer - you got a fabulous deal!
I know what you mean about the diet. With all these tea parties, I am always baking and of course we can't let the food go to waste! I do so enjoy the tea parties, though! Have a wonderful week! It's getting closer and closer...the dream trip!!!
Ya, Rah, Rah Goodwill. Yes lets hear it for Goodwill and my favorite thrift shop, Warehouse Consignments.
I did enjoy my time at your tea party. Counting down with you. We are partying Saturday at 3 PM and mass at 5 PM in the church where we were married. I am so excited for my kids to see the church and all my old hometown friends.
Everything is just fabulous. I was teapotless for a while in my life. I think you must be wise to appreciate having tea since it's usually not made in an appliance and you have to slow down a little. It's also a good excuse to have cookies and the like! Great post, I like it all.
Now Miss BJ, could you find another event to link up to? :)
The title of your post Afternoon Delight...remember that song??..I went to college with the girl who made it..lived next door to her in the dorm. The Group's name was Starland Vocal Band.. and that was the only hit they had..but it was a big one. I remember seeing her accept some award.. Before the group formed she co wrote and sang back up for John Denver on Country Road..
Now wasn't that special??LOL
I only have one teapot...Yours is just so pretty as well as your tea cart and cloth!
Pretty!
Oh how pretty this all is -- what a great tea set you found on your treasure hunt! Everything looks delightful - wish I could just jump through this screen and be there! I have the very same lacy tea tablecloth. I just used it this past week for a bridal shower and it will be in this week's tablescape. It's sort of hard to see because it's layered over a white tablecloth, but it's there. From now on whenever I use it -- I'll be thinking of you.
Wow! The red & white looks absolutely gorgeous! I had a several tea cloths just like that...threw them out several years ago because of stains...and I was tired of them! :( I miss them now! What was I thinking!!! My daughter came home from college and she likes to throw things out...she encouraged me to do it! I would have never have done that on my own!! LOL!!
I am so sorry about your loss! I totally understand what you mean about ones without God...how can you possibly live without Him?? I would not possibly survive without Him!
What a wonderful GW find! Wow! Your tea table/cart looks so welcoming, fresh and bright! Just beautiful! I totally agree with your comment about a "cracked heart". I lost a dear brother 2 1/2 years ago...and although I may not cry everyday now, or become totally sad for hours on end anymore.... my heart feels the "crack" in it and I have just learned to live with that feeling and continue on. It's lovely to have something you can hold onto with sweet sentiment and memories of a dear loved one. Hugs!
The tea setting is absolutely gorgeous...I love the photos!
You asked me about the Paula Deen measuring cups...
I got mine at Walmart for about $4.95. That's for the red rooster measuring cup set. They also sell the red rooster measuring spoon set for a little less. All by Paula Deen to complement the burgundy color of her serveware and cookware. They are soooo cute!
I just dropped in from Lady Katherine's Parlor, and just loved your beautiful tea arrangement. Such lovely things displayed in such an enticing fashion!
And part of your post reminded me of one of my favorite Leonard Cohen songs:
"There's a crack, a crack in everything;
That's how the Light gets in; That's how the Light gets in . . ."
Looking forward to coming back to look at all your sweet lovelies.
