4/26/10 THIS GIFT DIDN'T MAKE ME BLUE....and I can't speak German. REPOSTED TO ADD MARTY'S COMMENT...OOPS, AND ANOTHER SWEET EMAIL.

I have mentioned about a thousand times that
Mr. Sweet's cousins came from out of town to our anniversary.
They arrived with a BIG WHITE WICKER basket full of goodies for us.
*
A BREAKFAST SET FOR TWO...
in BLUE....
*

The basket contained other items that are sure gonna taste GOOOD.....
*
Altho this pattern is more modern than I am used to,
I just LOVE it....
*
THIS goofy looking thing is a GERMAN PANCAKE..
*
Cooked in a 9" cast iron skillet in a 425 oven..
This one was very thin, which is the way I love them.
It was ALMOST like a crepe...

If you use a smaller pan, it will be thicker.
*
I am unsure just how you are supposed to eat one of these... and I'm not at all sure WHY I put it on this small plate !? I guess just to show you how large this thang is !!

*

Pretty little golden napkin rings..

The tiny vintage BLUE WINDMIL pitcher Mr. Sweet bought for me years and years ago..

...I just sprinkled with POWDERED SUGAR and TART RED CHERRIES...
OH HONEY !!
*

!/2 CUP FLOUR
2 EGGS
1 TABLESPOON MELTED BUTTER
1/2 CUP MILK
dash of salt and cinnamon
425 for 15 minutes (ck. it for brownness)
***************
Cherries, Strawberries, Blue or Blackberries...any of these
are bound to be delicious...ALL with POWDERED SUGAR or WHIPPED CREAM...
Well, excuse me while I run put ANOTHER of these silly looking things in the oven..
I just came from the market with STRAWBERRIES.....;>)
****************************************************************
re-posted to add note from MARTY at A STROLL THRU LIFE..

"Oh I just love german pancakes. If you mix all of it in the blender and get it really frothy, then put in the iron skillet, it will roll up the sides of the pan and make a huge pancake that you then can vill with fruit or just more melted butter and powdered sugar and slice into wedges. They are just the best. Your new dishes are wonderful too. " Hugs, Marty

My thanks, Marty...

Just guess what WE are having for dinner tonight !! Do you think we would be considered

RED NECK if we had Blackberry Wine with it ??

****************************

Another sweet lady just emailed me to tell us a good way to eat them:

The reason I wanted to comment--the German pancakes! We're German--immigrated when I was 2 years old. I ate those pancakes growing up and they are one of my favorite breakfast foods from childhood. I haven't had them or seen them in many years. The way we ate them was to spread jam or jelly on the flat pancake (my favorite plain old grape), then roll it up and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Oh my--I'm going to make some with your recipe! Thanks so much for posting it. Best to you and your Mr. Sweet for many more years together!Ilka LazaroffClifton, VA=

Thanks so much, ILKA.....I like GRAPE jelly, too !

Somehow I missed your email comment and tonight just stumbled over it.
I love your colorful blog and the background. I have used the yellow and also the green polka dots and they look so nice and cheery.
West Texas. I'm not sure i know where ease and sea meet. My daughter and sister lived in Houston for about 20 years, and now Patti is in Austin and loving it. I have only been to Houston and Galveston, but loved all that was going on.

I put your button on my blog so I can find you.....
Be back again and thanks for writing.........

I'm not a *Blue Lovin'* person but your dishes are lovely. And the German pancakes with fixings are heavenly looking.

But why would you be considered RED NECK if you had Blackberry Wine with them?

Don't worry about answering that question, in your comments. I'm gonna' be writing you an email soon anyway. I've wondered something [else] long enough, and I'm finally just going to ask. ,-) No! It is not personal! -gigggggles-
