CAKE....

TODAY is DAY 9 of THE FOURTEEN DAYS OF LOVE at BRAMBLEBERRY COTTAGE
The theme today is SWEETS FOR THE SWEET...
**
I have these words in my kitchen so I see them EVERY time I go in there.
Is it any wonder that
I AM ALWAYS HUNGRY FOR CAKE ?
and
so is MR. SWEET..
Somehow, the words
"I AM HUNGRY FOR VEGGIES"
just doesn't sound nearly as CUTE !!

We love cakes of all kinds...
this is a APRICOT ALMOND cake...

...and a CHOCOLATE cake that LOOKED good but....wasn't!! :(
It turned out to be one of those TRAIN WRECKS in the kitchen!!
**

The above photo is from last summer...we picked these PINK LADIES
at our local apple orchard...
They were so perfect that everyone just knew they were FAUX
...until they took a bite, that is...
Ummmm
**
I wanted to make a cake for my friend that was having a few health problems at the time...
Thought an apple cake would just make her feel better !
***
Sooo, I got out SOME of my cookbooks that I thought might have a good recipe for an
apple cake..
**

....and, I DID find a good sounding one in my ISN'T LIFE DELICIOUS cookbook...
**
I love this old vintage gym locker basket with the number 65 on it....it's perfect to hold some of my
favorite cookbooks...and looks good sitting on the old, vintage bakers rack.
I bought two of these little wire baskets at a garage sale about 10 years ago for 50 cents a piece.
These were the only two she had....I would have bought 50 if I could!! :O)
****

This turned out to be a delicious little cake...

apples always make everything moist and so tasty....
and I wonder why I thought it was extra good because
we picked the apples ourselves ?? love it!!
**

Even just a little cupcake, drizzled with luscious chocolate, served on a pretty plate, for your SWEETIE makes it all so extra special....at this extra special time of year....

HAPPY VALENTINE'S........

Oh, your apricot almond cakes looks wonderful, and you've made a tiny little ol' cupcake look like the prettiest little masterpiece, just perfect for Valentine's Day! As for my football cake.. It is just a 9x13 cake; and then an 8" round cut into the shape of a football. (Both from mixes, and the other unused 8" round layer was put in the freezer for a quick snack cake for another day!) I kept my cake simple, but you can make yard lines and goal posts too, depending on how fancy-schmancy you want to be! As simple as mine was, I had fun making it, cute to set out, and most importantly, (0; it was delicious! ~tina

Love, love, love the EAT CAKE sign....so cute! Pink Ladys are my favorite apples and I get them every fall at our local orchard. I think we are sisters once removed.

So, BJ - if and when you make that cherry nut cake I blogged about - be sure to tell me if you did layers or sheet cake and if you did layers did they come out? And of course, I'll want to know if you enjoyed it! :) It's calling my name over and over ... the back side of it looks awful but it still tastes soooo good. :) Jen
