ANGELS.....

I am playing in the FOURTEEN DAYS OF LOVE
with LIZ over at THE BRAMBLEBERRY COTTAGE...
The theme today:
ANGELS
***
I am ALMOST afraid to admit that.....
I have only TWO angels here at SWEET NOTHINGS COTTAGE..
I hope lightening doesn't come thru the roof and strike me down dead !!
**

The two angels I have couldn't be more different....

One is a cute little SASSY wooden angel...the other, a vintage bisque that is in my header...I'm not sure at the age of this little heavenly beauty..I am 72 and I can't even remember NOT seeing her hanging above photos of my brother and I.
**

The little wooden SASSY flys all around and lights on knobs, nails...anything
that she thinks she might look good on.....
on the black hutch that houses SOME of my blue windmill collection..
*
....on the black thrifted dresser..
*
sometimes, she lands on a plant stand... and even on the thrifted, vintage
creamy white shutters beside my Franklin stove...
**

But we both like her best hanging out on the green vintage hutch...
*
..hanging from this olden KEY...
YEP...she is definitely...SASSY
**

and....the other angel is the one in my header...the one that hung above photos of my brother and myself the whole time we were growing up...My mother called her our Guardian Angel....and I believe it!

I sure did LOVE my mom...and I still miss her every single day.

She has been gone over 20 years now..and I find myself wishing so, SO hard that she could see all her GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN...my little blessings and that they would have had the chance to know what a fun lady she was...

I wish that she could see what wonderful people HER grandchildren turned out to be...my BIG blessings....Maybe she DOES see all of them...I hope so. Every now and then, I ask GOD to say hello to her for me and give her such a big ole hug....do you think it works that way? I have to THINK it just might ! :O)

To my heart, my mom is one of the BEST ANGELS of all....

**

HAPPIEST VALENTINE'S TO ALL OF YOU !!

Linking with 2ND TIME AROUND

RUBY TUESDAY and TABLETOP TUESDAY

Many thanks for coming by to see me today....

Hey BJ, I like your sassy angel. I collect angels, so I have lots and lots of angels hanging around my house.

God bless.

Your memories of your mother remind me of mine - I wish she could have seen our Allegra and Cameron, they would have bonded so well...

I believe in angels, and of my guardian angel who can't prevent trouble if we don't pay attention - but guide us if we allow them. Lots of angels in western TX, they all hang around your friendly home!

BJ,
I loved hearing about your memories and seeing your family treasures. It's wonderful seeing your angels and how you incorporated them in your decoration, you are clever lady. Thanks for sharing.

I love your little angels and your header is the perfect Valentine's vignette!
It's nice that you have the little angel from your childhood that your mother treasured for so long.

I think no matter how old we get, we still "need" our moms and it was lovely to read about how you miss yours. Your angel post is a great tribute to her. Love the vignette in your cabinet especially that cute little beaded lamp!

BJ what sweet post. It isn't the number of angels hun. The one special angel from your mom says it all! I know she watches you and has to be sooo proud.

bj, I think your angels represent you perfectly. Probably the different sides of you chose each angel to grace your home. Even the one that your mother chose at one time...is a part of you. It makes sense to me. The other one is the bouncy, sassy you that makes us laugh.

Most definitely, I think there is such a thing as a guardian angel. And I also think your mother sees her grandchildren.
Simply, I think there is a lot we don't know. A lot! One day we will know a lot more than we do today, but we will never know everything.
Yes, I think it's something like that...I do! Perhaps not exactly like we picture it, but probably very close. One day we will know, won't we? I have no doubt. None.
Love and hugs,
Mona

You made me realize I don't have many angels either. Your sassy one is so cute and your guardian angel is so special. You don't need more than that!

I have some angel in my garden but I like yours that flies around inside!!

I feel most of the things you do about my late mother. Sometimes I feel guilty for not thinking of her more often...my kids better think of me A LOT or I will send lightening crashing down!! ;-)

BJ-I know what you mean--I guess we never get too old to need a mother. My own died when my children were very young. Love your angels and your header. I have LOTS of angels and really didn't even know I collected them until I started counting-- I need lots of guardians :)

just stumbled onto your lovely blog while enjoying the 2nd time around party. I love your angels, and I too miss my mom. In two days it will be 18 years and I often wonder if she can see the grandkids she never met. I know she would be very proud and would have loved to have enjoyed them. Then again I like to hope she is close to them regardless. Anyhow, your post was lovely. Brightest blessings!

The vintage angel is beautiful BJ, and even more so because of the connection with your mother. I love that the little wooden angel flies all over the house, very sweet, but you are wrong that there are only 2 angels in your house! I am pretty sure that your husband and children and grands all think you are the best angel in the house:>)

Your memories of your mother really touches me especially now that my parents are getting older. For sure, your mother is happy seeing all the blessings you're having.

Hi BJ, yes this is one of those nights that I am up late catching up with my blogging friends. I love your sweet and sassy angel post. I think sassy looks great wherever she lands. As for the beautiful cherub that belonged to your mom, she is so darling. A treasure to keep your mom's precious memory close to your heart. I so often wish my mom could have lived long enough to see what a loving and happy family we are. So many grands and great grands who will never know her leaves me in tears at times. But I can tell ya she did not like tears. Happy was her wish for us and my dad's too.

BJ email me your address. I found a thrifty something I know you will love. I couldn't resist because it had your name all over it. Smile.
