THRIFTING, TABLESCAPING AND EATING...it doesn't get much better than THAT.

My good friend, MARTHA, and I spent the entire day
THRIFTING
and we had such fun and found some good "stuff"...
**
I WON'T show ALL the great things I found in this one post..... I'll stretch them out a little....:)
I've already shown you the DESK and CHAIR that I got on this very trip... at Goodwill.

This is the D.A.V.......a fun place to go......
They not only handle thrifty items.....
antiques are scattered throughout the store, too...
*
(don't ya love their little tiny "s" on " ANTIQUEs" ?
I picked up another small white ironstone platter...
I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for whites....
White ironstone looks fabulous in any setting, I think.
To me, it gives a feel of history to rooms....and that's a GOOD thing.
*

You might like to know that I squealed like a sissy girl (Hi, Picket) when
I spied this huge covered dish at GOODWILL....
*
It's not a tureen.....I'm really not sure what one would use it for...
Me?
It went right on top of my vintage green hutch, along with some other white pieces.
*

Not a scratch nor a chip on either the bowl or the lid..... woo hoo !

$4.00.....GOODWILL
*

Then we went to the SALVATION ARMY thrift store and
I was just flat thrilled to pieces when I found 12 of these adorable place mats...
all for $5.00
They are like new...not a stain or a tear or anything but cuteness !
*

little places to tuck in a napkin....and your flatware..... lookin' especially good with RED ! :O)
*

Wasn't I lucky to find an even dozen !!*

Will I EVER get tired of my redness ?
I don't think so !!
*

...cause I just LUV red !
Baked chicken breast....baked in low fat ITALIAN DRESSING..
roasted veggies...carrots, onions, peppers and squash...a little olive oil, salt and pepper and
30 minutes at 350 degrees...
HEAVENLY....!!
*
Regarding the healthier way we are trying to eat...
I made a crustless Veggie Quiche and it is really good...
Not that I would want it every day but I'm glad to be getting some recipes
that I know is a lot healthier than we've been eating.
I WILL make this again !
and...
a crustless, sugar free Chocolate Pie that turned out really good!!
It will be WONDERFUL when we can add some flour back into our diets and I can make a crust.
I am thinking, but don't know for sure, about making an egg white crust...
would it work?.....why not?.....it would give something for the pudding to sit on
and give an illusion, at least, of a crust......wouldn't it ??

It would also be good in a Sugar free graham cracker crust ..either one made at home or a store bought one.
*
Gotta go now...
I just received my new issue of BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS...
and my quiche and cup of hot, DUNKIN DONUT coffee is calling me.....
******************************************************************************

THANKS SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY TODAY.....

BJ, every time I get onto your blog I start cracking up at the music!!! Do you pick it out yourself? You are a HOOT! Good for you for eating healthy - nothing will make you feel better inside or out than being good to your body. Now onto those thrifty finds! Great job girl - you did GOOD! It's fun to have a thrifty pal to go out with isn't it?

Not Fair!!! I am lovin those placemats. My Thrift Stores seem to NEVER have good stuff like that! I guess you'd say I'm jealous...but I am happy for you! Thanks for sharing your fun day!

I think that your pot is a bean pot. I have a couple (not as nice as yours) that I serve my baked beans in.

God bless.

Hello BJ, your wandering friend is so happy to be home. I am still trying to visit everyone and it is an up hill climb. I will get to all my friends today.

I love your thrift buys and the place mats make a darling tablescape. I found a thrift something for you so send me your address. I couldn't resist getting it for you. A thrift surprise just for my Texas friend who loves red. and white too. The white bowl and lid is lovely. Lucky you.

You are cooking some good stuff. Healthy too. I'm proud of you. I admit to missing all the gooey sweet awesome treats you make. Now, forget I said that.

Love you my Texas sister friend, Jeanne

Oh BJ Sweetie...
I would so love to go thrifting with you. You know all the BEST places. I just love your finds. I am afraid you and I would be pushing and shoving when it came time to pick things up, I love what you buy, I would be competition for the shopping field. Not good for you.

I don't think I will ever tire of red. Check out my post today. I think you will appreciate it for sure.

Have a beautiful evening. I love your share tonight. Country hugs sweetie. Love, Sherry

I am always amazed at the awesome posts you come up with time after time. My little brain just can't do it. :)

Your thrift store finds are perfect. Whoever used to own those placemats just didn't realize what a treasure she had. I'm glad you did. Love the covered dish too.

Way to go on your diet. Hubby and boys are gone tonight so I'm having oatmeal for supper. Mmm.

Holy cow woman, you scored! I love how you put the napkins in that crock on the table. And those place mats couldn't be any more perfect.

I can't wait to see what else you brought home!

Oh, and the food!!!! It may be low fat but it all looks delicious. I love quiche, although I think I'd miss the crust a lot.

Oh! I wish I had come along with you and Martha. Wow...what a killing you made. Love the white dish (I love white serving pieces as they go with everything) and the place mats are out of this world. Love the pocket!!

I like that you are eating healthier. I am wondering if you ever use Splenda. When you start to add flour back in, you may want to use whole wheat and sweets are so much healthier with Splenda instead of sugar. But you probably know all of this. Keep up the great work!!

I never put crust on my quiche anymore, a holdover from when E and I did Atkins. I don't miss it. Those roasted veggies look sooo good!

BJ I think it could be a bread crock ... it certainly looks very similar to my Mum's old red one. I love the white jugs you have there too!
I see you are using my red polka dot plates again this week (I know they are yours, but I like to think that I will have some of my own one day).
You always make me feel hungry when I stop by here.

I can't have wheat flour {Celiac}, so I'm happy to see you made a Chocolate Pudding pie with no crust! What a great deal on the covered bowl. Not sure what that would be either, if it's not a tureen. You should hook this post up tomorrow over at Finding Fabulous ~ Jane does a Frugal Friday post every week that this would be perfect for.
