MY FIRST MANTEL PARTY....WOO HOO

MANTEL...a shelf above a fireplace.
MANTLE....a glass globe in a lantern..Other definations can be found on Google.
So, if like me, you have wondered about the correct spelling of a shelf above a fireplace...
it is MANTEL.
*****************************************************************************
THIS is my first time to play in the weekly new meme....

THE MANTEL PARTY
hosted by BETH at THE STORY OF A 2 Z
*
I HAVE ALREADY SHARED with most of my readers the following photos but I don't have the time to change everything up just yet.

SOOO, here they are again ....only this time,
THEY ARE GOING TO A PARTY....
I have a Franklin Woodburning Fireplace that has the stove pipe going right up through the ceiling.
Most wood burning stoves don't have a mantel but...
mine does because I wanted one and MR. SWEET made one for me...
That pipe makes it very hard to decorate but IT CAN BE DONE!! :o)
The black concave mirror above the mantel belonged to my mother.
*
I used some of my MACKENZIE-CHILDS pieces to decorate this mantel after I took the CHRISTMAS things off...
And, I LOVE using OLDEN books on my mantel....just seems to gound things a bit.
*

Vintage shutters on either side of the stove...just for a little textural interest...and because I happen to be totally in LUV with olden shutters...

* THIS mantel is in my dining room and may I just say...

"O HONEY!

This is BY FAR, the most cherished of all my thrifting treasures....$50.00 for this pine mantel and surround.

The above is as it was decorated at CHRISTMAS... This mantel seems to look better with less. I've never really tried piling the things on because I don't really want anything distracting the fact that the mantel itself has some beautiful things to look at.
*

I have since removed the CHRISTMAS wreath and the RED candle...
I have some plans for a new "look" and will share it
at the next PARTY if I get it all together....
*
This is a great new meme....
If you stop by and visit all the bloggers eager to show you their talents,
you might get some great inspiration.
I know I did !!
Many thanks for stopping by today...

The mantel and surround in your dining room is beautiful...what a fabulous deal! It looks really pretty decorated for Christmas.

I hope to get into the party tomorrow when I get my act together. Isn't it fun?

I'm suffering here. Most of these I could play along...this one I can't! This is our first house without a fireplace and we've complained about it for 6 years! We talk of adding one, but we won't be here forever, so we aren't sure it is worth it. I love yours...and your pretty things.

Hello sweet lady...

I do declare...what a sweet treat...to get to see both of your beautiful mantels!!! Hehe...I just giggled when I read your definitions of "mantel" and "mantle", Girlfriend! For the longest time I used the mantle spelling for my fireplace mantel! Sheeshh...and I did go to school! Hehe! Did you know that a "mantle" can also mean a cloak or covering like over the robes that they wore in Bible times? Sorry...had to be a little "smarty pants" to make up for the error of my mantel misspellings all those years!!!

Well Darlin', I just adore both of your mantels and you have decorated them both just beautifully! I love all of your pretty black & white Mackenzie Childs pieces...sooo pretty! Okay, I have to ask...you mentioned covering up the stove pipe to your wood stove...how did you do that? Is it behind the mantel and wall? Just curious! We have a wood burning stove in our dining room...sure wished that we would have made it to look like a fireplace. It's kind of been a sore point to me...but I love the extra heat during our long winters! Now...about that fabulous dining room fireplace! Girl, I can't believe that you found that beauty for just $50...that has got to be the deal of the century! I just adore how it looks...what a treasure find! Love all of your mantel "pretties" there too! What a sweet treat...both fireplace mantels for the Friday Mantel Party! Thank you for sharing them with us today, Darlin'!

Warmest winter wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design

PS...thank you so much for coming by and taking a peek at my "Be Still My Heart" table the other day...loved your sweet comment! I always enjoy our visits, my friend!!!

BJ, your "mantles/mantels" are lovely! I had to laugh about your opening...distinguishing between the two terms. I have an eBay business for The Brambleberry Cottage and very often, you have to spell something incorrectly to get people to find you! LOL

Absolutely gorgeous!!!! I was under the impression that mantel could be spelled either way for the shelf above the fireplace. I guess not! Learn something new every day!
