HE IS MY VALENTINE...

This is a VALENTINE repost from a couple years ago...
I am joining with LIZ for FOURTEEN DAYS OF LOVE
*
TODAY'S theme is
" HOW DO I LOVE THEE...."
****
This post was right after I had endured several surgeries on my legs...
Mr. Sweet took such good care of me through all of them.
**
Below is my MR. SWEET
my heart....my lifeline
This is the strength that sat beside my bed during my hospital stays, all day long and would have gladly spent the nights in a recliner, beside my bed, if I had needed him to or even asked.....
because he cares !
*

He is the one that had my bedroom all ready when I came home from the hospital....clean sheets, fluffy pillows, because he knew that it would please me and make me more comfortable.....
and....because he cares!

He is the one that kept my cup filled with Raspberry tea, while I sat with my leg propped up to help with swelling.....
*
He is the one that bought this lovely book for me because he knows I consider my being a Grandmother my profession....(Webster says profession; "occupation requiring special study")
because he knew I would just love it..
He knows my being a Grandmother is one of my most cherished blessings.
*
Can you see that I consider this lovely book more romantic than a huge box of
Valentine candy?
*
Oh, I will love the candy he is sure to bring...it just will not be as SWEET as the thoughts he gives me each day. ...just because he cares.
That is romance to me.
*
He is the one, that when my appetite was so slow to come back after surgery, that brought me sweet, ripe grapes and peanut butter and crackers...one of my favorite of all times snacks.....
because he cares!
He is the one that when I just could not stand the thought of eating, even if it had been all day, went to the grocery store and came back with fresh strawberries, Angel Food cake and whipped creme to tempt me into eating......
Can you see that this lovely gesture will always be more romantic to me than a vase of flowers?
Oh, and don't misunderstand...I do love flowers...but I love the fact that I have romance in so many other ways all the time. That is a fabulous feeling.

He is the one that jumped up early and made Pecan Waffles because he wanted me to start my healing process by eating good and knows there is not much else in the world that I love more than Pecan Waffles....
He is the one that served me on a pretty plate ....because he cares!
*
Can you see how much more romantic this is to ME than going out to eat?
The time and thought he puts into caring for me is just a very romantic thing.
I do love going out to eat...it's just that, to me, the romance of it all is in the daily things.
Romance comes in all forms.....
WEBSTER defines romance as:
A Latin word meaning (1) A tale of love, (2) An exciting quality, (3) A love affair, and (4) To make love to .
*
I define it as a Sweet Hubby that is ALWAYS there for you, watches over you, makes you happy, protects you and.....CARES.

I guess what I am trying to say is that ROMANCE isn't ALL about flowers, poems, music, candy, candlelight dinners, having a passion filled night on silk sheets.
All these EXTRA things surely add to the romantic side of life, there is no doubt.
*
To my way of thinking, it is sometimes the little every day things that go on between a man and a woman that doesn't SEEM romantic in the least....at the time.
*
But when they are all added together, sometimes we are able to see that...
"GOSH......how romantic is this whole, entire life of mine... just because he cares!"
***
I am so blessed!
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, MR. SWEET...
I LOVE YOU for a million reasons but mostly, just because you're YOU !!

I love Mr. Sweet for taking such good care of you:) I can't believe that this time last year I didn't know BJ or Mr. Sweet existed. You are absolutely correct, flowers and candlelit dinners are not as special as what he did for you! Thanks for sharing these thoughts. LOVE and HUGS!

I can definitely see the romance in all of that. He has loved you for many years and understands the things that mean the most to you.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if newlyweds who don't make it in marriage could have a peek into the future? Our ideas of romance changes with time. The wine and roses and the beginning changes very quickly.

Thanks for sharing this sweetness.

Aww BJ, I think you have a keeper. In my opinion he is just full of romance. Takes a special person to look after someone who is recuperating.

God bless.

Ohhhhhhhhh what a beautiful post! Thank you Dear BJ, for sharing it with us.

And thank you also, for reminding me, of how I too have my own "Mr. Sweet." Always caring... Always ready to think of me first... Always gentle and loving and all those good things, which a good man is.

And I....... Do not appreciate it, as I should. -sighhhhhhhhhhh-

But I will take a hint, from here. And appreciate all his great qualities, more. From now on. :-)

Thank you, Sweetie! I'm so happy I met you in "Pretty Blog Land."

Gentle hugs,

And Happy February!

I'm blessed like you by having a true sweetheart for a husband (going on 35 years for us)too...so many women get a bit confused by what is true romance by watching too much tv or reading too many romance novels..

Dearest Jean, my bestest friend! This is by far the best post you've ever done (that I've seen at least)! Do hope your Mr. Sweet reads it again and again. It's a wonderful tribute to his caring for you so well. I happen to know the "favor" is returned as well. You both are so deserving of so much appreciation.

Love you!
Martha

BJ, I sat with tears reading this beautiful post, it was so apparent you love your sweetheart as much as he loves you. I've only memories of how Mr. P used to do those same sweet things.. just because.. Mr. P's memory is fading more quickly now, but on the rare occassion he does remember, he puts a smile on my face and a song in my heart.. hugs ~lynne~

So very sweet, that Mr. Sweet. I agree: love and tenderness and romance are more often seen in the everyday gestures much more than in the grandiose ones.

Will be in your city tomorrow to talk to doctor again. May be spending the night for a procedure on Wed. a.m. We'll have to see what he says about that, but it's what I'm expecting.

Thank you for your kind words and prayers.

This really made me smile. I think those of us who have been married a long time really understand what you are saying here. My husband brings me a cup of tea in bed every morning...it is one of the sweetest things and such a wonderful way to start my day.

I love how much you love Mr. Sweet.

Ohh BJ, what a sweet post! As I was reading this, I felt like you took the words out of my mouth. Mr. Sweet is a wonderful man, and a lot like my hubby. You see...I broke both bones in my lower left leg and crushed all the bones in my ankle back on January 30th. I've already had one surgery and will have at least one more, if not 2 more in the coming weeks. My hubby has bent over backwards to make my life comfortable. He slept in a recliner at the hospital because he didn't want to leave my side. He has brought me tea and chocolates, because they're the only thing I seem to be able to taste. And the sweetest thing has to be the fact that he follows me around with a pillow, to make sure my leg stays propped up and comfy. Even though the circumstances are dreadful and I have been in more pain in the last week and half than in my entire life, it has brought us together and shown me just how lucky and loved I am. I read your posts to him and told him that it could have been me writing it. He just smiled. When I asked him why, he said because he loves me!
