is the practice of melting a TIM TAM, an Australian chocolate covered biscuit, by sucking a hot beverage
(tea, coffee, hot chocolate) through it. Opposite corners of the TIM TAM are bitten off, one end is then submerged in the hot drink and the drink is sucked through the biscuit.
*
The effect is that the crisp, inside biscuit is softened and the outer chocolate coating begins to melt from the inside out.
(I think, however, that PEPPERIDGE FARMS is now producing them, here in the STATES)
the above cookies bought at a local supermarket
work just almost as well.
Research I did on the TIM TAM says that the biscuit is DOUBLE COATED in chocolate to
help prevent the cookie from collapsing before it reaches your mouth !!
Here's an AUSSIE showing us how it's done!!

Some very dear friends in our HOME FELLOWSHIP group were hosts for our gathering
in their home this past Sunday and
showed us all

Well I never! I'm Australian and I'd never heard of that! Not too good for our present hot weather though!
OMG, this post just cracked me up, BJ!!!!! I cannot believe the lot of you sticking your heads practically in your coffee cups to suck it through a chocolate cookie! You're insane, all of ya!
Can I come next time?
Justine :o )
This sounds delightful, BJ!! I have to try it (and blow my diet!) :-)
xoxo

Looks like a scrumptious way to enjoy chocolate.
Hi BJ, Never heard of this, but if it involves chocolate, I'm game! LOL! ...and it has to be good! I have to admit, I would have gotten tickled! LOL! Probably blown chocolate everywhere! LOL! That wasn't a lady-like thing to say, huh? ~hugs, Rhonda ;)
See...chocolate is the way to go!
LOL LOL
Yes, The Muse feels the very same way!!! LOL
Very intriguing and interesting.
Great Find Ruby
BJ, that looks like so much fun for a group of ladies to try! I actually giggled seeing all of your friends trying it out. I will have to go purchase some and try it out. My Momma always dunked her cookies but this looks so yummy and chocolate anything, works for me. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I've never heard of this practice, but I just love to dip them into hot tea and bite off the biscuits! Perfect even on a sunny day to me.
You are bad BJ to temp me with that delicious looking cookie:) Never in my life have I heard of this but certainly looks too good! Enjoy your day dear friend!
Wowowowwo...this is so exciting and fun even as i read it ...u'll really had fun and everybody rocking had fun...
Have never heard of Timmy tammy before this but now i sure wanna find 'em....
and do my own littel tim tam slam...
that sure looks good and well worth trying. When we were kids we used to push a candy stick into an orange and suck real hard and the acid in the orange would open a passage through the stick and you got candy flavored orange. But that sure doesn't compare to chocolate. What does, really?? B : )
Never heard of these; love the name. I will go to our Gourmet World Store and see if they carry them; sound like so much fun.
If its chocolate it has to be good. Great photos.
Ha, ha...I've never heard of this before! How fun! What't the inside of the cookie like?
Thanks so much for visiting - happy Ruby Tuesday to you too!
Chocolate's the way to go for sure!
LOLA:)
We do this in OUR house, in America...but it's a chocolate covered graham cracker and milk for us. LOL

Hi, just stopped by to wish you a happy belated birthday. I celebrated my 54th on New Years Eve.
Cute post too... what we go through for chocolate.
Hi Bj :)
I have never heard of that in my life! Looks like I have something else to add to my list if I can find them ;)

ruzzer

u may view mine here
Ohhhh they do this in Canada too! Because I remember a Canadian blogger, showing a video of "how to do it." :-)
This is my first visit here. Being sent over by a sweet blogging friend who writes Blondie's Journal.
My main blog is Aunt Amelia's Attic, but I just made a new blog, called Gals With Grandmother Faces. Because I'm nearly 73 and wanted a place to talk about life, at this stage of life.
So I'm so happy to have met you, via Blondie. And I'll be back.
Gentle hugs...
If you did not like chocolate, by the time you were through your blog, you would. Never saw so many fun uses for good chocolate. Glad you visited and left a comment.

So1 I have to go buy those biscuits now! Maybe there's something else I can buy up here? (We don't have many Peppridge Farm cookies.)
How fun is THAT?!?! I'm going to try this at our ladies' next get-together!
Myra
Hi BJ,
My best friend and her hubby were down here from Georgia visiting for the holidays and they were talking about this! Okay, time to call in a favor with my cutie pie nephew who lives in Australia....Auntie needs chocolate!!
G'day, ma'am! Plenty of red, the wrapper designed to catch our eye, to attract us to the sweet treat within. I didn't know about this, but I wonder what sweet this might add to a fine cappuccino? A dreamy desert!
Looks like a lot of fun! Melted chocolate...mmmm good.
God bless.
Yummy! Sounds delicious and fun!
Cute blog --WOW 72 yrs old. It seems like sometimes the blogging world is taken over by the younger set (I am 58)
Found you through The House in the Roses.
I have had them..actually got them at my beloved Christmas Tree Shop..but never did the slam!
How do you do these posts every day! Amazing!!
Wow, it seems an enjoyable way to drink your hot chocolate. Maybe I could try it too :)
BJ, that looks absolutely delicious. I was recently in the States and wish I had known to look for these.
Hope all is well with you. Drop by when you have a chance.
Blessings,
Mary
Haven't tried that, but did see these Tim Tam's today in Target.
As long as the chocolate was good quality, I wouldn't care how I ate it! LOL And I have to have my coffee! Sounds fun, I'll check out Target, since someone saw them there.
xo Sue
Oh BJ, I always learn something ew here, lol! This is something I HAVE to try:>)
