1/10/10....A COLD SILVER SUNDAY so, Let's have a FIRESIDE CHAT.....

With the whole country in a deep freeze, I think we are all
using our fireplaces more and loving every minute of it...
I know MR. SWEET and I sure are.....
**
We eat in front of it....we play games in front of it....
we read in front of it....
**

I decided to have a little
coffee and scone time...
in front of the beautiful, roaring, warm fireplace....
This ole fireplace warms more than my body...
it warms my spirit...
*
**I have a story about this Franklin Fireplace that I will share with you soon...
it has a double blessing and it makes me cry when I think about it.....
it's not a BAD cry...a very sentimental cry....
**
Using my pretty BLUES and a little SILVER........
I love BLUE AND WHITE for dishes....
I've had the blue and white transfer ware for several years...
Mr. Sweet bought them for me at a flea market...
I've added a few pieces ...but they are getting so hard to find.
They are expensive, when I do find a piece...REPLACEMENT.COM has a few every now and then...

The little bell no longer has a clapper...I'm sure it was lost long ago...
but I still love it...
MR. SWEET brought it to me from a trip he made...he found it in a flea market of sorts and thought how pretty it would look with my dishes...
**
This powdered sugar looks a little like snow...
brrrrr...better put another log on the fire.....
**
**
I have a beautiful and extensive collection of
BLUE WINDMILL canister sets from Germany and
that I've been collecting for over 40 years...
This coffee canister is one of my favorites....
Some are in sets....others just individual pieces that I have found here and there...
They are becoming very hard to find now...
**
I have a pair of these silver candlesticks...found in a Ho spics thrift store a couple of years ago...
**
***

These scones or puffs are good with powdered sugar, much like a beignet (but not quite as light)
and I just LOVE them with a good Red Plum Jam or Apricot....
**
to make the lighter version beignets, yeast is used..
These are just almost like a regular biscuit dough, rolled, cut and deep fried...
**
I hope you enjoyed our time together....
in front of this warm and much loved fireplace of mine...!
*
MUCH LOVE....
bj

Oh BJ sweetie...
Thank you for the coffee and the scones, and I sure did love warming my bones by the fireplace. The crackle and pop of the wood, the fragrance and the warmth were so wonderful on this Saturday afternoon late.

We had upper 70's and sunshine here in Phoenix, but I am battling some bronchitis that is trying to turn into pneumonia, so the warmth felt every so good to me. I thank you for allowing me to warm ny backside sweetie. It was delightful.

Have a gorgeous rest of the day sweetie. Enjoy that fire with your honey bun. That is the one nice thing about a cold night, getting to cuddle the one you love.

Thanks for sharing sweetie. I so love to come and visit you. If we were neighbors, there would be no seperating us. Country hugs and so much love, Sherry

My tootsies warmed up just looking at your roaring fire. I am feeling so sorry for everyone. It has been unbelievably cold. England is even having a rough time.

It has not been so bad here in Northern California. Actually the temps are pretty normal for this time of year.

My sister in law lives in Killeen so I have Killeen's daily weather on my Iphone and I cannot believe what I am seeing.
Warm hugs, Sue

I love that beautiful fire you have going there, BJ! You are making the best of a bad situation. We have a fire every night, I wish all day long but we have to conserve the logs...

Your scones in front of the fire are fabulous, I just seem to read and nap in front of ours...

Love your pretty silver...really LOVE it and the blue and white is SO pretty too. I love the little bell without the clapper simply because Mr. Sweet bought it for you and your collection. Love it!! :-)

Hi BJ, that looks wonderful. Our fireplace is gas...we hardly ever turn it on. I miss our wood burning one that we had in Colorado...gas is not so thrilling...

That spoon with the pattern on the bowl is gorgeous, and I want your coffee canister. I've seen these before but they re always too expensive for me to buy (not to mention that I have no place to put them!). I'm looking forward to hear the story about the fireplace. laurie

Heeheeheeee... I'm sorry, but I have to copy a typo of yours because it gave me a giggle.... "Ho spics" Oh my, we could make a lot out of that one!

and as I was reading about your activities in front of the fire, I had to wonder if there was one more you weren't telling us about.

Oh crap, my mind is in the gutter this morning when I should be commenting about that coffee canister! Sooooooooo pretty!

Justine :o )

I love the blue and white dishes too, they look so pretty with your silver. What a warm and cozy post.

I did enjoy my visit. I also really like the candle stick and the holders. I do not collect the blue willow but see it all the time in the stores and it is expensive. Sometimes, if I am lucky, Goodwill has something they don't realize the worth of and one might find a great deal. Glad you are work. I am crocheting an afghan so I can stay warm. Blessings

BJ-
I'm jealous of your warm, lovely fire! It's going to get down to 20ยบ in sunny Florida today. We're not well-equipped for that. A cozy fire in a fireplace would do the trick, thought!

Love your blue and white - I have a Spode collection here that I love - and your silver is lovely, too. Now, if I could just have a scone for breakfast!

Hope you'll visit Brynwood when you have time.

*sigh*, I've wanted a firplace all my live long day, and if I ever buy another home it has to have one! You would think it would be a requirement up here in cold Michigan wouldn't you? I just adore those blue and white dishes BJ.

You have so many lovely collections, Miss BJ! And it looks perfectly warm and cozy in your cottage.
We are freezing our A double scribble's off ( my mom used that expression, so much more lady like, LOL!!)
The Bay is frozen, and I practically ran back home..not a pretty site with ice all over the place..

A scone would be lovely..how do you stay so slim?

What a neat wintertime post, bj! I loved it! Here in Southern California we really do not need to burn the fireplace but I do anyway. Like you, I love the coziness of it and the safe warm feelings it brings with it. (besides, my backside is always cold!)
I love your blue and white dishes! Your scones look delicious and so does the jelly you are serving with them! I still have not learned to do a mosiac but one day I will have the patience to try it.
What a cozy and inviting post this was!! Sigh...
Hugs!

Hi BJ and Happy Blue Monday! I'm SILLY about blue and white ware...I always call it Delft whether it is or not. My older sister brought me back a real Delft tile from Holland about 20 years ago, and I have a "Delftware" cow milk pitcher and some little blue and white wooden shoes the same sis brought me from Holland. I even kept the blue/white wrapping paper they came in (over 20 years old!). So, you see, I really do love your collection - especially your Kaffe porcelain. Vive le blue and white!!
