PINK SATURDAY....SPECIAL CHRISTMAS EDITION

TODAY is PINK SATURDAY, hosted by BEVERLY....
THANKS SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY SWEET NOTHINGS....
**
Beverly has asked us to share a favorite CHRISTMAS decoration or ornament..
and that the color RED is close enough to PINK !!
WOO HOO...I LOVE RED !
**
Since I have several....ok...A LOT ...of favorites, it was hard to choose just one...
***
I adore my wooden, whimsical NATIVITY SCENE...
I've had this piece for about 15 years and still just love it.
It's the kind of piece that not only reminds me of the birth of our sweet JESUS CHRIST...
it also reminds me that humor goes hand in hand with a lot of serious things...
and I like that !
Usually, through bad times, if we can just hang on to something to laugh about,
we can make it thru sooo much easier..
**
I hope that your CHRISTMAS is merry and bright...
As bright as a CHRISTMAS STAR...
***

I also love my little vintage CHRISTMAS Angel Bells...
I have 3 of them and I have no idea how olden they might be...
They hung on my mother's tree every CHRISTMAS when I was growing up...
**
Each one has MERRY CHRISTMAS in a foreign language..
I think the original set contained about 12 angels....
***
I have looked hi and lo for more to add to my set but I've not found any, as yet....
***
BUT MY MOST FAVORITE OF ALL of my decorations....
**
..... are the CHRISTMAS stockings my mother made for my 2 children..
This one belongs to my son, DAVID.
Every single bit of the stocking is hand made...no pre-sequined patches here..
She hand sewed all the little pearls and beads and sequins...
She took the patterns out of childrens coloring books...
***
Here's STACY'S....
They are velvet, fully lined ....
I've tried to get David and Stacy to take their stockings home...
They want to leave them with me...to hang for CHRISTMAS EVE at our house.
Someday....they will want to take them to their house and that is where, at that time, they will belong.
To all of us..THEY ARE PRICELESS...
*************************************************************
O....and I want to show you the cutest candle holder..
My bff MARTHA gave this to me the other night when I had her and another friend, EARLENE,
over for pizza and a movie....
***
Martha knows how I just luv roosters..she found this on a little vacation trip back in the summer and said she KNEW, the minute she saw it that it would be my CHRISTMAS gift....
Isn't it just PERFECT !!!
**
Do you know the story of the CANDY CANE ?
It's a beautiful story and you can google it and read it all...
**
The white of the candy cane symbolizes the Virgin Birth...
The red, the blood shed...
The shape of the candy cane symbolizes the Good Shepard..
and, turned upside down, of course, the first letter of JESUS.

MERRY CHRISTMAS....

Please stop by HOW SWEET THE SOUND and see all the other favorite decorations...

Such beautiful things you are sharing with us today. I can see why it is hard to choose a favorite. The bells are terrific...wonder if you could find them on e-bay. Thanks for telling us the story of the candy cane. I had never heard that : ) Happy Pink Saturday!

BJ, this is just wonderful! I enjoyed reading every word of this post and seeing all the things you love. The nativity set is cute as can be, and I love your tiny angels! And those stockings! All the work your mama put into those for your babies! They are such amazing keepsakes. I like the fact that she based the design on children's books.

And BJ, I love your gift from your friend. She knows you well, and what a lucky girl you are!

Sending you much love for a very Happy Pink Saturday...

XO,

Sheila... who is up late! ;-)

Happy PS, BJ! Doesn't Beverly have those exact same bells with the diff languages on them? I think she has all 12 ~ she posted about them earlier this month. THey are precious. Those stockings are truly heirloom keepsakes ~ I think it is so sweet that the kids want them displayed at YOUR place!

Please stop by and see my fav decoration and look at past posts to see our holiday home when you get a chance!

I just love seeing the many memories that my friends have. Those stockings are priceless. I have at the very top of my tree some oranaments that belonged to my MIL when she was a child. One has the whole back broken in it, but it gets put on my tree every year. She is going to be 90 this year.

Merry Christmas,
Chris

Oh my BJ, (it seems like I always start my comment to you like that) Love those bells, they are precious and the memories that go along with them, sweet! The stockings that your Mother made for your kids are so beautiful and to think she did all that by hand. WOW! Have a blessed weekend dear and how could I forget to mention the candle holder from your BFF! Honey, too cute!

I love the stockings, BJ! My late grandmother made stockings for her children, all of her grandchildren and the oldest of her great-grandchildren. Each was made the year of our respective births.

And the nativity is lovely. I have a soft spot for wooden, handmade things. Just beautiful!

Everything you showed today is a delight for the eyes, but of course, the nativity is my favorite too. I have a small collection of mangers scenes simply because they do remind us of Christ's birth.

Red is my FAVORITE color too! When we first bought our house I insisted on having room I could paint red...It was the bathroom! Happy Holidays! Beautiful ornaments! Love them!

Girl, you must have some good metabolism...I can not afford those biscuits and gravy very often!

Your decorations are all sweet. I love the things that have to do with my kids the most too.

Great idea having your girlfriends over for movie and pizza. I need to do the same thing. We just got a new big TV last week. Hubby needed it because you know he doesn't see that great. I'm still trying to get used to the big TV.

Ah, BJ, what a great post. Your red is very cheerful and warm for the season! I like your approach about the importance of whimsy and humor, even about the things we treasure the most.

Your mother's vintage bells are really special! I appreciate your sharing them with us this pink Saturday. Have a lovely Christmas!

Thank you so much for sharing.

Hi BJ, I love everything but especially the little bells. Really unusual. And I guess my fave would be the biscuits and gravy! As Carl said in Slingblade........."Hmmmm I sure could go for some mustard biscuits I reckon!" Happy Pink Saturday, Mollye

BJ, thank you for sharing your treasures. I can see why each one is so special to you. I think your mother and my aunt may have used some of the same coloring books for patterns for each of thier hand crafted stockings. Of course mine is a just a dad bit older than your children's stockings. LOL I do a lot of handwork, and I know how tedious beading is. It was an amazing amount of work to make these stockings.
Thanks for sharing. ~ Sarah
PS
A friend recently gave me the same little rooster candle holder. Love it!

All so pretty at your house, BJ! And of course some good food at the end!

We don't need elaborate decorations or a big tree or numerous gifts under a tree. All any of us needs is to carry the spirit of Christmas in our hearts and to share it all year long with everyone we meet.

I just adore your mom's angels. My mother had some of those, too. Now my oldest son places them on his tree - time marches on...

Thank you so much for sharing your blog with me today. Yes, I'm crazy about ♥PINK♥ but I'm also devoted to visiting some of the nicest blogs in cyberspace.

Hoping your weekend is filled with peace.

Hi BJ, I have been all over blogland looking at the decorations and one thing that stands out to me is how many of the most meaningful and loved items in peoples homes came from the hand and heart of a loved one. Your stockings are really something special and I am sure they willbe treasured for many generations. Have you thought of packing them with a card telling who made them and a little bit about her so that the story doesn't get lost over the years?

What wonderful things to share and such great memories to go with them. My mom made stockings for all of her grandchildren (my 2 and my sister's 4). I love them, they will always be so special to me...and to my kids.

Hello Dear BJ, we were gone again this weekend. LOL. Anyway, I do not want to miss the wonderful Pink Saturday stories so I'm trying hard to visit like crazy.

I love the bells and the stockings made by your mom. Imagine the work that went into those stockings. They are precious to have and a wonderful memory. Lets face it, I love all the things you post. Please don't change your post in any way. Your warm and loving photos and your lovely home is something I always love to see. The food isn't bad either. Kidding, the food is awesome. I love your baking marvels.

Hugs and love, Jeanne xoxo
