MY CROWN OF THORNS....

I did this post 2 years ago...and felt the need to post it again for this
PINK SATURDAY, hosted by our lovely BEVERLY over at HOW SWEET THE SOUND....
Thank you, Beverly, for hosting this pinkest of days...
***

Some very good friends in our church group gave this CROWN OF THORNS plant to me several years ago.
It was soooo tiny....planted in a small butter tub.
I've kept it in a sunny, Southern window, watered when dry, fertilized lightly so as not to burn it and FINALLY, it has a few, little tiny red flowers with light PINK centers on it. And, right here near the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, too. I just love that!!
This all just serves as a reminder about our relationship with God. The more we care for it, the more it grows into something so beautiful....BUT...we DO have to nurture it in the same sweet way we care for other things in our lives.

Just look at those wicked thorns !! They always make me think of the CROWN OF THORNS our sweet Jesus wore and it reminds me of all HE went thru for you and for me. ...

Are you are like I am?......I cry every time I think about the pain and suffering HE endured...just for us. I am so thankful.
***

Such tiny little flowers and such HUGH thorns....I wonder if I keep putting it in a larger pot if it will continue to grow larger and larger; like the way HE puts us in different places in our lives that make us grow stronger in HIS spirit.
***

Every thing I've read about this pretty plant says the flowers will be tiny in size and few in number; like the Christians of God's great world.

We are growing in number by leaps and bounds. It just thrills me to death each time I see a new bloom on my plant.....; the same feeling you get when you see a new Christian being born in the love of God.

I have the urge to give this plant twice the fertilizer it should have so there will be many more of the beautiful, red and pink flowers. I'm afraid I'll kill it, tho, so I try to refrain from using too much. Just like when I want to PUSH someone towards God but I know if I take it slow and easy, it will happen, through the Glory of God.
I do love this plant, thorns and all.......
I do love our Saviour, through the good times and through the bad.

I love all of you, too!
***
My thankfulness today, in keeping with 30 DAYS OF THANKSGIVING......

GOD is always with me, even when I don't think HE is !!

Oh BJ I like this post very much. How true everything is.

It is amazing and very thankful to be presented by something (a plant, a person, weather, etc.) which reminds us of how great He truly is.

Those thorns sure are huge. It made you think of pain, suffering, something that may be unbearable. But look at those flowers, small and yet beautiful - a what a reminder of how our life is too. Not everything is smooth sailing but if we see through open eyes, we will see the flowers and the beauty and purpose it brings amidst everything else :-)

Li

BJ, I'm so glad you reposted this because I did not see it the first time around. Crown of thorns is a plant that always make me think of the cross, but you took the analogy even deeper! Thank you.

This was an awesome post. Yes, it makes me cry when I try to even come close to imagining all that our sweet Jesus went through for us. Makes a reminder when some times I feel like giving up on something so much simpler.

I am blessed too... Thanks for reminding me to be thankful for that today BJ...

Also I wanted to tell you that I don't sell my soap... But I am doing a tutorial on how to make it... Because I cheat and make soap the easy way... I don't need a lot of dangerous ingredients and supplies... I use what is called "melt and pour soap" Then I just add the fun stuff like essential oils and exfoliant and package them up all pretty! I will do the tutorial on next week's Show and Tell Friday with a link on where to purchase the melt and pour soap... Its SO easy, if you can make muffins you can make soap. I just met this blogger, her name is Cindy and she does sell home Crafted soap:

Have a good rest of the week end!

This was beautiful BJ. I loved your analogy here. It really makes you wonder what that thorn of crowns was like, and I'm humbled over the fact that He willingly wore it and suffered death for me and my sins.

Sweet friend, NO one will ever be able to tell me that prayer does not work. Today was a day I almost didn't know I had been so ill...and except for being weak..I almost felt normal! I am doing everything I am supposed to do. I have felt so comforted by you and every one. I think just getting back to being able to read my comments and catching up on your blog and other blogs has helped me.

This plant you have shown us today is so beautiful. Thank you for reposting it for me to see on this wonderful day. :)
Hugs and love,
Mona
