I ADORE RAIN....CLOUDS....LIGHTENING....THUNDER....

"I'M IN TOWN....MET ME FOR LUNCH SOMEWHERE"....
I said, "Get over here, girl. I want to fix lunch for YOU!!"
"Oh, goody...I'll be right over!"

I have these beautiful, olden goblets, just covered in the most beautiful etching...and golden rimmed.
I used these as my candle holders...and LOVED the effect....
With the candles , they were magical....

BJ, this post was just fantastic. How wonderful that out of the blue your friend calls and you insist on making lunch! And no ham sandwiches for you girls! Wowee. At least tell me the soup was from a can, k? It was a very unusual lunch but everything looked so delicious!
So now, that isn't a real fireplace? I do love the look of those candles in the logs! Oh! And your goblets are gorgeous! Hmm... one could take that the wrong way. LOL
Justine :o )
HI Dear BJness! Oh, what a wonderful post! I love your glorious table, your food and you were able to share it with your friend! That's such a nice touch those little candle lights in your pretty fireplace! Just perfect! I'm thrilled you would use my silly verbage!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
That is what it is all about... the sweetness of a warm meal and friendship... fellowship and breaking bread together.
Lee
What fun! You know what? Those friends are best who don't need an advance invitation, aren't they?
Loved this post!
BJ,
Your post just gave me the warmest feeling inside. All that good food on your pretty table with all the candlelight while the weather was terrible. Oh, comfort!!!
I love your new dishes. And I love what you served. Grated celery in tomato soup is a new one for me and I will have to try it. And do you serve black eyed peas often? Do you just boil them and serve or do your put something on them? Boy, do I sound like a Yankee or what??!
Beautiful tablescape. You have a lucky friend, indeed! :-)
xoxo
Janie
What a lovely post:>) You have a very lucky friend!
BJ I just had to come back at look at that loving setting with the black eyed peas, cauliflower and wondering what is that next to it, is it a stuffed pepper? LOL...it made me hungry!
hugs
Sandi
BJ, I am certain that your friend enjoyed that meal way better than any restaurant food. :) Your table and your home are beautiful.
Darlin' post. So glad you were able to catch up with your friend - after all, there's nothing like old friends.
I keep meaning to tell you how much I like the new header or picture at the top of the page...whatever we are supposed to call it here.

That is a blessing to have a friend come into town like that .Another blessing is that you can fix and table and meal that fast. It all looks amazing and I to want the peas and bicuit.
I hhave the goblets and yes they are old. I have to fing mine I wrapped and out them up. They were my late aunts and she was 75 when I got them and that has been years.

I can just hear that Texas accent saying "get over here, girl". Sweet memories....
Your table is so inviting. And the meal looks scrumptious. I am intrigues by the candles in your fireplace. What a wonderful idea to have the logs (are they real) filled with the candles.
Thanks so much for sharing. (and for visiting me today)
Jane (artfully graced)
Okay, BJ... I want to know if I call you when I visit Texas, do I get a lunch like that??? Oh, YUM!

Good Morning BJ ~
This is a lovely post! Your lunch looked so delicious...I can almost hear the delightful pitter~patter of raindrops outside...pure bliss.
Thank you for sharing a bit of your cozy afternoon.
Smiles ~ Ramona
Such a pretty room and the tablesetting is just gorgeous. So warm and inviting. Your menu looks fabulous. Love it all. Hugs, Marty
BJ, I agree it is so much nicer to lunch with a friend at home....more leisure time to visit. Your table looks perfect and so inviting. The lunch looked to be delicious. I think your candles in the fireplace are a great touch. Your large goblets that you used for the centerpiece may be buttermilk glasses. When I was recently visiting at a friend's in Dallas, she had some of these that had been her grandmothers. She called them buttermilk glasses. I want to find some of these. They add such interest to a table. ~ Sarah
I LOVE your beautiful table and you whipped up a fabulous meal for your friend. It looks delicious! Those fireplace logs look so neat! What fun having a gab session with a dear friend!♥
BJ, such an inviting table. I ♥ your new plates with the green goblets, perfect pairing. All of this in front of a cozy candle-lit fireplace, how much better could it get.
Bj-What a lovely post! You set a wonderful table-I'm very jealous of your dishes. I have nothing but my old Corelle's.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I agree with you-I do love a cloudy rainy day.....but 10 days worth---not fun!
Have a great weekend
Sue
I would love to be invited over to dinner too. The food looks yummy and the table is beautiful.

everything was so cozy and homey! Yay!!!
I bet your friend was so pleasantly surprised by the lovely table and great lunch you prepared. You work well under pressure don't you. The key is always to make your guest feel like it was no trouble at all to have them over.
I bet you had a wonderful time at your beautiful lunch. All looks so cozy. You set a beautiful table and your photos are great. Love the candles in the fireplace.
Yummy down home cooking! Your table is beautiful and I LOVE that fireplace with candles. Did you make the logs? I have a fireplace I won't use but THIS would be PERFECT!
The table food and company are all perfect. This was a lovely post BJ. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Your table looks so inviting. Candlelight makes everything more romantic. I have some antique goblets kind of like yours and I will have to see if they lend themselves to candleholders. Thanks for the idea!
It all looks comfy, cozy and delicious.
BJ, you're the best for making everything special.
This was such a relaxing blog. Your pictures are amazing. Love the fire place with the candles:)
I love all the candles, they add a wonderful sprinkle to the table. Everything looks GREAT!!!
Geri
G'day!!! sorry I've not been by for a while...:-)
this is lovely, the table looks just divine and the candles are a twinkly and warm, (I'm really into having heaps of tealights for christmas this year)
the frienship is the best thing though!
Sarah
Looks delightful, BJ! All so pretty and the candlelight adding such ambiance. I'm sure she was quite grateful for the display. I just now checked UPS and it said your package was delivered. This is Friday afternoon. Hope you got it!
Brenda
I like the lighted logs in the fireplace.
BJ, you are a woman after my own heart! There is nothing better than opening your home to a friend & providing warm, comforting food!
This looks like it was an outstanding success, from beginning to end.
I'm amazed at how perfectly your new fall dishes match those pillows on the chairs! Good job!
I ♥ your stone bunny on the table! I have 2 that are outside at the moment but must come in before our Ohio winter freezes & cracks them. I will give them a good bath & they may be on a TT soon. Thanks for the idea!
I also think your candles inside the fireplace are a wonderful idea. I HATE, HATE, HATE my gas log fireplace!!! This would be a perfect solution if I can find something similar & it will fit over the existing faux logs. Off to google!
Thanks for sharing such a homey & welcoming setting with all of us.
fondly,
Rettabug
