DINNER FOR A LONELY ONE......

It's that time of the week when we get out our dishes and play HOUSE..
and then we get in the kitchen for FOODIE FRIDAY with MICHAEL...

MR. SWEET had to be out of town on business so I am just having a small dinner, by MY SELF, in front of the infamous television set. But, as always thinking of TT and FF, plus enjoying a pretty place setting, even alone, I had to set a pretty place for myself on my vintage, thrifted and LOVED coffee table. I'll show you more of it at another time.
A fall leafed place mat, my same ole fallish dishes and flatware....same amber goblets and A FAUX CANDLE...
Now, I am not so sure about this faux candle. I don't really like it very much.
No delicious fragrance , no little fancy trickles of smoke coming from it...I saw this candle at a baby shower a few months ago and thought I just HAD to have one with a "C" on it.....
well.....now I don't like it ...one little bit !!
***
I DO, however, like this little tiny basket full of FALLNESS....

See how the fabulously faux candle just looks out of place in an otherwise very warm setting ?
Why in the world did I think I liked it...enough to pay good money for it ??
O Well....
**
I love sticking a good Vanilla candle into fresh coffee beans.....it always makes me want to start a pot of fresh DUNKIN DONUT coffee and drink 16 cups !!

A big glass of cold water, chipped ice and 2 big lemon slices .....
maybe this is normally a summer drink but I never said I was NORMAL !!

Now this meal may not look very good...it is so hard to for ME to take good photos of food...
This isn't a recipe....no sir....just something you make up as you go along but....I loved this !

Brown rice with added mixed veggies, a little Dell Sauce, sauteed onions and bell peppers....then cubed beef boneless ribs on top. I am not a huge meat eater....so I didn't use much of it on this dish..
Of course, I had to have bread..the person that quoted "Man can not live by bread alone" didn't know me !!
***

I was watching a little tv but mostly thumbing through my Better Homes and Gardens magazine and my new Gooseberry cookbook from COZY HOUSE...thanks again, Brenda. Looking for new recipes for...
THANKSGIVING. Found some, too !!
**
I think sliced lemons are SO pretty
***

Dessert by candlelight...even when you're alone....can just warm your soul...
O, and I just wanted to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this WOOD WICKS candle. It is WONDERFUL...
and has a sizzling and cracking sound, just like your fire in the fireplace sounds like. Just on a smaller scale.

Thank you, Beautiful Daughter !!
**
Dessert wasn't anything to write home about...leftover pineapple chunks with, what else ?, pecans...
a dab of Cool Whip sprinkled with cinnamon but I was satisfied. It really put me in the mood for a MILLIONAIRE PINEAPPLE PIE, which I am going to make this afternoon !!
*************
30 DAYS OF THANKSGIVING

I am very thankful for loved ones around me but thankful, too, that I can enjoy myself, even when I am alone.
God has given me a comfort within myself and I know it is because HE lives within me. I am never, ever really alone and I am so thankful for that gift.

"PUT your faith in GOD'S love....not man's."

OMG, BJ you had me at Millionaire Pie? I have not had that for years.

Talk about pulling a memory from my hat. Oh sweetie, forget the onesie, I am comin on over. I love that pie. Now I am going to have to buy the stuff tomorrow on my way home from work and make one. I have not had that pie in, forever.

Oh thanks for sharing your onesie dinner sweetie. Sometimes that peace and quiet is so wonderful. Not all the time, just sometimes.

Have a beautiful Thursday sweetie. Country hugs, Sherry

The nice place for the fake candle might be in your bedroom. It would be nice to go to bed by candlelight and not worry about burning the house down. I can almost smell that coffee/vanilla combination. Yum.

Everything looks so warm and inviting..even the candle you dislike. It all looks snuggly..like a warm fuzzy blanket makes you feel.
and a p.s. when the Millionaire pie is ready, I'll send over my little plate for a small slice please..:)

What's a Millionaire Pie?
Did I make everyone screech to a halt? I have no idea what it is.

I think your meal looks delicious, and how wonderful to set such a pretty place setting just for you. My husband has alergies, and I've never been able to use real candles unless they have no smell, so I'm loving the faux candles. I think yours looks pretty. And, at least we don't have to worry about causing a fire with our candle. laurie

Looks amazing! I wished I felt that way when Brian left. He went out of town this week and I just stay in my room at night. The dogs went nuts and I locked me and the fur babies in my room. I have never been affraid like this. I guess it maybe from Brian being here with me during my surgery.

I love your table for one, BJ!!

We are packing up for our return home today. Hope to get back to visiting soon!

Hi BJ,
You table for one looks so wonderful. You are funny about your faux candle. :) I actually love it! I have some too, they are great to nestle in places you could never put a real one (very safe). Also, it was interesting to hear about your wood wick candle. I have seen those but never knew they sounded a bit like a real fire in the fireplace. How great is that? I will have to check them out! Hugs, Amy :)

I have never hard of a Millionaire Pie, whats in it?. Please post when you have made the pie, I would love to see it and the recipe.
My husband travels a lot and I do the same thing, I make my dinner and curl up with a good tv show or magazine.
Also the Wood Wicks Candle that sounds like a fire cracking, I have not seen that either (oh where have I been). I really must get out more, I am going to google the candle now and also the pie and learn more about these.
A wonderful and enjoyable post,
Take care and have a great day,

Yep..you can even make dinner for one look interesting and cozy.

You ..are right about the candle. It didn't fit. All else was great.
The food made me want to ..just take a taste. I wouldn't have eaten the whole thing (I lie!) but it really looked so good I wanted to try it! :)

Lovely, lovely table. The smell of vanilla and coffee is heavenly! Thanks for sharing.

I love vanilla candles stuck in coffee beans. Just something about the combination makes me smile. I think your candle is very cute. I wish I was the type to "make up as I go along" cook. But, sadly, I am not. No telling what would come out of that! Likely a disaster!

BJ, you always make me laugh! I've done the same thing...bought something and then later wondered why...glad to know I'm not the only one. I was just thinking your "C" candle would look marvelous on a bookshelf...cozied in with some wonderful books. Sixteen cups of coffee...now that is some serious caffeine! You'd be tablescaping 'til the cows came home if you drink that much coffee! :-)

I love your table setting for one. On the rare occassions that I'm alone, I have a tendency to eat out of the pots! The whole evening looks just lovely.
