We weren't singing the blues....

It's time for BLUE MONDAY...
with SWEET SMILING SALLY
Please stop over and say hello and see what BLUE she is offering us today..
She has an impressive list of other BLUES in BLOGLAND to delight you!
**
Our fellowship group met at SWEET NOTHINGS Sunday night and we had such a wonderful time. Lots of great food...we have a meal together every Sunday evening, along with our fellowship teachings.
ALWAYS wonderful music.....lots of Praise and Worship music that really goes to the deepest pockets of my very soul....I can worship my Savior better through good music than sitting in a church pew, listening to a preacher. Through wonderful music, I can feel HIM right in the very room with us....and may I just say.....it is a blessed and wonderful feeling.
Our son, DAVID, usually is playing but this night, he had to take his daughter,
my beautiful grand, LACEY JEAN, for basketball photos.
These two fellas above made some great music !
**
Wanna know how blessed I am?
Those 4 GORGEOUS young ladies there...all sprawled out on one of the sofas....
4 of my granddaughters....
O HONEY !
OOO, and remember that chocolate cake recipe from BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS
that I made for this special occasion...?
Well, here it is, in all its beautiful glory....
O, yes...it looked pretty...
It looked delicious....
Everyone was MAJOR impressed....
***

and it was the most awful tasting cake.......ever !!
waaay too much chocolate and I NEVER thought I would say
"too much chocolate" in anything....!
But, yes ma'am....it was bitter and strong and....JUST. NOT. GOOD. !!
So, if you saved that recipe....or if you see this beautiful cake in YOUR copy of
Better Homes and Gardens....think of MOI....and....don't cook it !!
I did have a backup....and another sweetie lady brought the most delicious
Devils food cake with a luscious 7 Minute icing....
So.....there ya are !

It looks like ya'll really had a good time. Isn't it amazing how some of the most delicious looking desserts just aren't. The cake is beautiful to look at, thank you for being the guinea pig. Now, I won't make it.
I made a cake with a very rich bittersweet topping one time and we could hardly eat it. I made it again, left the topping off, entered it into a contest and it won 3rd. Is there anything you can alter?

Well, you had a wonderful time of fellowship and praise anyway. The cake looked so good. I laughed so hard when I read that it was awful. Another sign that sometimes beauty is only skin deep :-)
Blessings,
Marcia

Well BJ .... I was oooohhhh an aaawwwwwing over that cake, beautiful cake and then you jerked it right out of my hand. How could anything so lovely not be good? Oh well, at least it was pretty. Looks like a great time and having grandchildren there too? priceless! Have a blessed day!

Ah ha, so you do this instead of church! To me, it doesn't matter where or how you worship (I don't attend church at all, or even any of these type of meetings) as long as you worship and enjoy it! It looks like the bunch of you have a great time every Sunday! Does everyone contribute toward the meal too?

I am SO happy to hear that your cake sucked. Heeheeheeeeeee

Hilarious. I thought I was the only one who made new recipes that turned out AWFUL! What a nice time of worship, though. In spite of your cake. I really am glad you found me, for I do enjoy your blog.

Oh that looks like so much fun. I'll tell you a secret, the music is often my favorite part too. It's whatever reaches your soul though..don'tcha think?

Now I'm glad I haven't been chopping chocolate! I made a Devil's Cake from a mix this weekend and topped it off with Hershey's Perfect Icing (the recipe off the back of the can). Yummo!

Looks like a great time! Don't you just hate it when you make a new recipe for company and it doesn't turn out? It sure did look good!

BJ-your grands are darling and your evening looks wonderful and comfortable. I'm sorry about the cake...but, I'm glad you tried it before the rest of us. At least you had another dessert to offer!

What a wonderful way to spend time with good friends and receive such blessings as well. I would enjoy a piece of that cake too.

I love to worship through music too. Those people all look so comfortable; it makes me miss my small group from South Florida.

Thanks for warning me about that gorgeous cake. Thanks for sharing, and Happy Blue Monday!

History was made! You finally baked something that wasn't good! (or so you say). Didn't know it was possible for you to make something that tasted anything but delicious. Now I won't feel so bad everytime it happens to me. That cake looks so wonderful I can't imagine it tasting bad! Too much chocolate? Never thought I'd see the day! Didn't know anything could have too much chocolate. You know, I'll bet those sweet folks ate it anyway. Come to think of it, if that cake was bitter it might cure us of our chocolate addiction. Recon? Something good has to come out of it.

It looks like you all had a wonderful time! I'm with you, good songs speak to me much more than a sermon no matter how good the sermon is. Sounds like the fellowship was a great success. Everybody looks like they're really enjoying it. Good blog, my lady!

Love you!
Martha

BJ, loved seeing these shots of your worship group. Such cute grands, too, and I am still in shock that you told me that Cate is your GREAT grand! Girl, you are too young-looking! You must have had your babies when you were one! ;-)

And I agree with you... I love to worship the Lord through music. I think the church has lost a lot by not meeting in homes. We've done the liturgical thing for years, but I much prefer to meet with fellow Christians in homes to worship. Looks like you all had a blast, too. Wish I had been there to sing some with you!

Love to you, dear BJ, and Happy Blue Monday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Oh, and BJ, I probably would have eaten that cake and not noticed anything wrong. One time, I ate mashed potatoes with some sort of sauce from a dish on a friend's table and thought it was some new gravy recipe. It was some sort of sweet sauce to drizzle on the sweets. LOL!

Looks like a wonderful evening!
Sorry you weren't happy with the cake! And glad you told us so we don't make it! :)

Hi BJ, I am laughing about the cake. It looks fabulous. I promise not to bake it. Ha!

Your family gathering looks like so much fun. I know you loved every minute.

Love you, Jeanne

Hi Dear BJness! Oh, what a wonderful time I know y'all must have had. If I'd been there I would have been playing my piano and singing my tiny head off! I remember as a little girl growing up in Alabama, on Sunday nights after church, we'd meet in someone's home and do just this - sing and eat! Great sweet memories.
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Hard to believe something that looks as good as that cake didn't taste good. But then, can't tell a book by its cover.

Oh BJ! All that work and ingredients and it turned out terrible:>( Well, your food always looks so good, you gotta have a little failure once in a while, who would have thought that BHG would let you down? You must be so proud of those beautiful grandaughters! What a sweet couch full:>)
