....OF THE SEASON !
***
No ants, flies and NO HOT sunshine for this OUTDOOR day.
***
Some of our home fellowship sweeties decided we needed to have one more
"in the park" get-together before wintry days.
MAY I SAY.....
We just barely made it !!
Actually...a cool front moved thru on this very day...
BAILEY KAY....texting ...!!
I couldn't text anything if my very SOUL depended on it...
Not even if someone said "HARRISON FORD will come see you" !!!!
What a blessing to have such sweet friends....
with a little over to share....
My son, DAVID, made some of the most delicious stuffed JALAPENO peppers...
others brought chips and dips and veggies...
Church's Fried Chicken...
plenty of OREOS...
**
***I didn't get photos of our REAL food so found web photos of the same things....
and this one is REAL....:o)
There was some pitching the ball to each other going on way out there.....
Downright cold, as a matter of fact !....of course, we may all be wimps !!
Usually that first cool spell of the season throws me into chill bumps 10 miles high !!!!
***
***
a GREAT gathering, indeed...
YEA, TEXAS TECH.....
**
**
Out came the heavier jackets....

I remember the day I took this photo..
98 degrees and not a breath of air stirring...
I was sweating...oops...glowing, so hard I could barely stand it !!

I'd kill for some good ol Texas weather in Nebraska. They say it's going to snow Sunday!! Yikes, why do I live here?? Love your cute breast cancer awareness pup on your header :-)
Hi Dear BJness! Oh, what a lovely time you all must have had. I was giggling about the wraps and the flip flops before I read your text! LOL Oh, how wonderful to actually have some cool weather. It's been so hot and humid here. It was 91' today but with the high humidity the weatherman said it felt like 110'! Can you believe it? Ug! I just stay indoors and crank down the AC!
Have a good evening,
Shelia ;)
Isn't it wonderful to have someone to have that final "fling" with! Hope you have a great weekend, it'll be here before we know it!
It has been cool here in Illinois too, but we will get another dose of summer before the month is over. I'm not putting away my summer things yet:)
Sue
That looks like so much fun. About a month ago we met a bunch of our friends at the city lake/park for a picnic. It was so nice to be outside and not have to worry about fixing up the ouse for company. :) We need to do it more often. When everyone brings food to share you end up with the best yummies!
It looks like you all had a great time even with the chilly weather. We've dropped 30 degrees in a week out here in CA. It was 105 last Wed. 75 today! I am so ready to say goodbye to this summer!
Hugs,
Dawn
I need some heat!!! it is right now 3 degrees above freezing...and the wind is blowing at about 55MPH!!! it is just stupid!!!
I did get a lot done today before the wind hit me...but still...I could have gotten more done without!
You guys look fun...it seems a good day was had by all!
I giggle at those gals who are looking for cool weather...while we here in Alberta are freezing our behinds off!!!
What a fun day, BJ! Now wonder they're all smiles, the food looks delish!...Christine
I think fall picnics are wonderful. It does look a little chilly there! But what a lovely place to have a picnic with great friends!
Hugs,
Penny
It all looks so wonderful and you all look so warm and chilled at the same time, lol. And is there any chicken better than Churches? Sorry Colonel, lol!

Good Food - Good company - Good times! I have a phone that takes pictures, videos, texts, can make an internet connection, etc. and I barely know how to make a call or answer an incoming call. :) I made homemade pimento cheese this last weekend. :)
I adore the picnic basket and the flipflops, and of course the dog. Thanks so much for sharing the wonderful pictures, I felt like I was there....
Looks llke it was an awesome picnic! thanks for sharing!
I had to chuckle at some wearing heavy coats, some with blankets, one in just a T-Shirt and the girls in flip flops. This time of year no one knows how to dress.
BJ, Looks like everyone was having a great time...good looking food and friends.
Cool front has not reached us yet.
Happy Outdoor Wednesday.
Barbara

Picnic with a jacket and flip-flops... my kinda picnic:) Have a blessed day
You all look frozen! I have to laugh about the flip flops and jackets, we all hold on to summer til the bitter end, even if our toes freeze! Those stuffed jalepenoes look so good!
Only in Texas do you wear flip flops and a jacket...LOL..atleast here if you don't like the weather...hang around...it will change...
B.J. I just found your blog and love it! What a great way to end the summer with a picnic! It takes forever for the cool weather to settle in here, I live in north Alabama. I am so looking forward to it though!
I am a follower and I will be back!
Lou Cinda :)
Hey BJ.....Lord, help me not to be jealous of your cool temps. We are still in the 80's....yuck!!!
But......it will come if I keep hoping!!!!!!!! :-)
Barb ♥
Hello BJ,
It looks like all of you had a great time - chilly weather and all. It still too warm here to tuck away all thoughts of summer but that is just fine with me!
Thank you for sharing your picnic with us!
~ Tracy
What tales that picnic basket could tell :-). I especially like to photo of the gal in the white jacket. She looks like she's freezing poor thing.
Cold or not, it looks like you all had a wonderful time.
The last picnic of summer sounds and looks like so much fun. I know the fellowship must have been wonderful.
What a fun get together!!! I love that everyone hung in there...even with the cold front!!! You gotta love a picnic coverd up in a blanket!!! Wonderful!!!
Enjoy!!!
XOXO
Cathy
Come by and check out my give away on Friday!!!
I'm the poor gal in the white jacket, and I really wasn't freezing, but it was a bit chilly! And yes, we did have a great time!
Love you, Jean!
Barb
How wonderful to have such a great group of family and friends willing to brave the cold to have a last summer picnic:-) I so enjoyed seeing all the pictures and yes, look at those beautiful smiles!! You need to come to northern Ontario to toughen up...I still go outside in short sleeves when it's 40F and I find it warm! hehe xoxo
Hi BJ
It looks like a perfect picnic...good friends good food happy smiles!
Happy Outdoor Wednesday!
Your picnic looks like so much fun! even if it was a bit chilly :)
BJ - your photos are just the best! I almost laughted out loud when I saw the flip flops paired with the blankets! Thats the south Texas winter wardrobe... we wear our flipflops with sweaters, jeans and denim jackets...at least into December... then we switch to boots! LOL
that last photo with the blue picnic basket is just beautiful! Now, send me some of that cooler weather!
I really like the way you tell a story. Aso, you mentioned Church's chicken, I have not had that since I was a young girl!...we don't have anymore Church's around here in Northern VA that I know of...
Tiffany
Brr, I can feel the chill.
Now how can it be that cold in Texas, I ask??? Isn't Tex further south than SC???? It is a delightful day here and in a moment I am going to go outside to read a bit if "them there mesquitas aren't a bitin" !!
Looks like a great time! I treasure these last days of good weather before the winter comes..Love to put on a sweater and have my coffee on the porch!
Enjoy them, BJ!You know what comes next!
