ANOTHER FALL TREAT.......FRESH PEANUTS !

Thank you, Michael, for hosting this wonderful day...
***
A friend brought us some fresh peanuts, right out of the peanut field...
Nothing says FALL like fresh, raw peanuts...
***
I LOVE roasted peanuts so I put a single layer on a cookie sheet, in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes...
Ummmm...they are so good and it makes your house smell just luscious.
***
I save some of the raw peanuts to use in cooking....

Aren't they beauts !!

Now, I may have told you about my
ENGLISH PEA SALAD with PEANUTS....
O HONEY....I love it so much I wanna marry it !
Just make your pea salad the way you like it....
**
We like chopped red onions or green onions, cheese, and HELLMAN'S MAYO...
Then, I add 1 or 1 1/2 cups of roasted peanuts..
**
I also use the SPANISH PEANUTS in a can when I don't have fresh...and they are delicious in it !!
***

PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES are EXCELLENT with chopped, roasted peanuts, too....
These are the old stand-by, easy peasy recipe that I can't live without...
everytime one of my kids or grandkids come to the house, they head straight to the dining room to see if there's any PEANUT BUTTER cookies setting on the dining table...in the cookie jar..
**
1 Egg
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Peanut Butter, smooth or crunchy
1/2 cup chopped peanuts, optional
**
(most of the time, i don't have fresh peanuts around..i use the crunchy peanut butter then..
but i nearly always just use, and love, the Smooth.....)

......AND, then........there's the PEANUT BRITTLE...
My favorite !

Hi BJ!
Am I the only person in the world who has never heard of pea salad? But it sounds good. Also, I've never had a raw peanut. Can you tell I'm from California? It's wonderful getting around the country by blogging, I've learned so many things!
I'd love it if you'd stop by for a visit sometime!

Hi, precious! Look at that yummy peanut brittle and the salad, too! Now, I'm starving, BJ! You always do this to me. LOL! It really does look great. My dad was a peanut fiend. He ate them anyway you wanted to cook them, but boiled were probably his number one... except when you could get the roasted ones fresh!

Happy Foodie Friday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

I am drooling! I love boiled peanuts, and we always get them when we go down south. I've tried to buy raw peanuts in the shell but haven't found them down there. I can only imagine the smell of peanuts roasting...mmm!

Hi BJ, I'm ashamed to say I've never seen or tasted raw peanuts. I guess it's just not available here in CA. Thanks for sharing your regional delights!

BJ, Just tell me there are few if any calories in anything you showed on this post and I will be the Happiest Person you know.

Guess you can't. Roy and I are dieting and I would love to put about 10 of those cookies in my mouth. I will keep these recipes for later.

When I was a little girl, my Daddy grew peanuts. I remember him pulling them and laying them out to dry. They are delicious. He would lay them on a pan and put them on top of the gas heater in the living room:) Then we got to eat them:) Thanks for triggering that memory. Have a blessed day.

Everything looks great! I had never heard of peanust in pea salad, but I'm going to have to give it a try. I was raised in Comanche, TX, which used to be known as the "peanut capital" of Texas. Our country club always made the best peanut butter pie! Just thinking about it makes me hungry for one. I may have to dig out my recipe box this weekend and make one.
I always love reading your posts, you make everything look so pretty!

OMG, you've made all of this? I've never had a fresh from the field peanut but I can just imagine how good they are. Of course, they'd be better with salt, but I think I'd take them any way I could get them!

Pea salad. You love pea salad? You need help, BJ. You can love peanuts and peanut butter but you cannot love pea salad. It's just not right.

Justine :o )

Oh yum! Odd as it may sound one of the things I miss about not working is Phyllis' peanut brittle. She use to bring us all some. Never tried making my own. My husband and son always have to get a bag of roasted peanuts at the fair.
Have a great weekend.
