MONDAY...
THRIFTY AND BLUE.....

It was cloudy and dark and promising more rain....just my favorite kind of day....
I decided on making a cup of vanilla chi tea.....
I cooked some of the orange cinnamon rolls that we like so much....they go GREAT with tea ...

These vintage BLUE WINDMILL canisters are from Germany. I've been collecting them for over 40 years and I do have an extensive collection that I love love love...
I'll be posting more of it along....

The prices for complete sets have just gone thru the roof...and even just the individual pieces, if they are the "good" ones, can be pretty expensive. I bought most of mine before the prices started skyrocketing.

Five or so years ago, I found several complete or near-complete sets on Ebay. I seldom see a set anymore.

....and....then the rains came...
O, how beautiful it was. Out here in West Texas, we have what we laughingly call FROG STRANGLERS...
it just POURS rain so hard for a little while and then it's all over. I can remember when we lived in Dallas that we had soft, gentle rains that might last all day and into the night...

BUT I'M NOT COMPLAINING!!
NO, MA'AM...I sure am not complaining!!

AND...you probably know that I couldn't stay in the house!! Not with such a wonderful rain going on outside. I just made myself a tray and out I went for my tea and rolls on the FRONT PORCH in the SWING...AGAIN !! :o)
**
*you know...having a front porch and a porch swing is just good for my soul....
rain or shine !!

BJ,
I adore your blue and white dishware. I flew through Amsterdam regularly for several years and always picked up a piece or two of Delft for my collection. I notice you live in West Texas, I lived a year in Odessa when I was first married. Great people and I have fond memories of that time.

Hi BJness! Oh, I'd love to participate in the pet parade, but I'm going to be working on a garage sale. Trying to clear out the garage with all of mother's extra things! Man, my car's been outta the garage now for over a year.

Oh, I love your mosaics and those gorgeous dishes! How pretty.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

BJ, I'm just like you in that I LOVE a good rain. Love it! There's nothing like the sound of it hitting a roof or whatever.
Wow, that tea looks strong! Yum!

And this link thing. Just post pictures of your pet? or does the pet have to be dressed up? Tell a story, or just post a picture?

Justine :o )

Everything looks so warm and cozy and yummy! Absolutely love that blue dishware! I'm on the other side of Texas (outside Houston) or I'd be over and you'd have to share those rolls!

Grins!

My sweet friend...you do everything so beautifully..Balisha was just showing us how to make homemade vinegar and there are so many out there that have such homemaking talents...you being one of my most favorites.

I do have a request. Please pray for me... I know you have a wonderful relationship with our Lord..so I am asking you to do this for me. I have a feeling you have a lot of clout! :)

Mmmmm... I love chai tea! We had a "frog strangler" here in PA today, too. But just for a little while, and then the sun came right out to say hello!

What a wonderful cause! I'm all about the animals, they totally rely on us. I'll try to remember to post some pics of my babies on the 30th.

Hi BJ
Your blog is always so darn pretty. My friend Debbie @ Confessions of a Plate Addict posted some pretty French blue and whites... something like yours but in French.
Our rain is now starting. The leaves haven't had a chance to change, it's been so mild... I'm kinda liking it, but will miss the vibrant red's this year.
Those rolls smell gooood.
Happy very blue Monday to you.
Love Claudie

Good morning BJ, Hurray! I am home and happy to be visiting you again today. Your Blue Windmill canisters are gorgeous. You were very smart to collect them early on. My Mom collected Nippon the same way. She said it was so beautiful it would be valuable some day. You were ahead of the blue Windmill rush. Lucky you. I will be looking for more pieces on your posts.

I am so glad Texas is getting much needed rain. We had a bad drought here two years ago, so I know how happy you are to see the rain on your front porch swing. I wish I could join you.

Have a wonderful day.

Love and hugs xoxo, Jeanne

I would LOVE to have a front porch, BJ. One summer we rented a house that had a really deep porch and during rain we'd play charades or read aloud out there. My dad still talks about it as one of the best places we've been, just because of the porch!

You have a great collection in those dishes. You assembled a very nice post for today. Happy you had time to drop by my place.

Beautiful as always... we love those orange cinnamon rolls here, too - and we have frog stranglers - but when it rains that hard the water runs off into the drainage ditches and doesn't sink in to the fields like it should... always rather have those soft gentle soaking rains :)
Have a great week!

Jean, I don't know where you manage to keep all of those beautiful dishes! You know, you'd be a rich woman if you sold them, but I know you're richer by keeping them because you LOVE them so much! It is just a delight to see how you collect them and use them so lovingly.

Yuummmmy! Those rolls look soooooo good! And they do go very well with the tea.

Your pictures are so pretty in this blog. Yesterday was a gorgeous day all right! Loved the whole blog today as usual!

Hi BJ, I'm back to tell you that there was a bunch of 'bad' comments that typepad didn't publish and Beverly saw them in my typepad site not open to bloggers. She knows my code because she helped me start my blog. She put the letters back on and deleted hundreds of those comments. Bad people to say the least. There hasn't been any since. So weird.

Hugs xoxo, Jeanne

Hi BJ!

Oh how I love your blue delft canisters! They are supurb! I wish I would have realized years ago how much I would love my delft pieces today. I would have collected so much more when it was affordable. It's been rainy & chilly here in central Ohio all week and your breakfast on the porch is just perfect for this weather!!
