NEST: "A COZY OR SECLUDED RETREAT"
TO fluff one's nest....to make cozy and comfortable...and don't forget PRETTY!
I am linking up to THE INSPIRED ROOM with MELISSA as host. Please check out all the wonderful, warm, pretty and cozy ways people all over Blogland are using to get ready for a change in season as we go from SUMMER to FALL .
Also linking with KIMBA at A SOFT PLACE TO LAND.
NOTHING says FALL like ripe, right-off-the-tree APPLES
and one way that I love them are sliced, fried in just a tad of butter, sugar and cinnamon...
O HONEY !
We have a most delightful APPLE ORCHARD right outside town and MR. SWEET and I are going
APPLE PICKIN' very soon...
we will take along some GRAND helpers !!
I have my poor, little pitiful dining room torn apart because I'm.....NESTING....
I spent the better part of an entire day, looking for just the right wreath to go above my mantel...
*reposted to add a link..
my metal baker's rack that was a DISPLAY RACK in another life, has been taken out back for a new spray job..... FRENCH BLACK...
I'm excited !
O, I do love nesting...I love the change in seasons so much. It is just about the only time I really get in there and tear things all apart and start all over...
what fun..what work...
what AM i doing all this for?
Oh, yes...to make everything new looking, fresh, trying new things...
NESTING is the name of the game...

I have to tell you the truth....I was looking for one JUST LIKE
CHERRY HILL COTTAGE has...wouldn't you know it!!
NOTHING....the one I was looking for IS NOT IN THIS TOWN....
Soooo, to fill in until I DO find that perfect wreath, I put 2 wreaths that were in my decorating closet together and came up with something that I can live with for a tiny while.....and it didn't cost a thing...
I do love decorating closets....

I was going for a much cleaner, less cluttered look for this thrifted, vintage, much loved creamy white mantel...
I am very happy with it...
Now, I know that little dark bird on the pedestal doesn't really belong there.
I used the 3 PLUS 1 decorating tip on arranging things on the mantel....
so this little birdie is going to have to find another place...or NOT....! :o)
I've pretty much always lived with the RULES WERE MADE TO BE BROKEN
in some areas of my life...but not all of them !!
******
NOW...that's the red hutch all spiffed up, the freshly painted a creamy white mantel ready to go...
....to move on to the Baker's Rack AKA Display Rack, purchased once, a long time ago, from a store going out of business for $5.00....
I'll play around with it for awhile and then I'll show ya....
I will get my dining room all ready for SHOW and I so hope you will like it.

I have a new...BRAND NEW....french inspired tablecloth coming from one of my favorite stores on the entire, whole planet...
WILLIAMS/SONOMA
i just can't wait for it to get here...
it's in the Provence golden yellow and I am beside myself...
O...and it has roosters around the edges....*sigh

Love it. I have been wanting to bake all day. I do alittle at a time wish I felt like getting it all done.
Hi BJ...I can't get in the fall mood just yet but I sure am enjoying watching you get ready.
:-) It feels like Fall here today...but it's just too soon to suit me! I love your "new" wreath! It's look great there above the mantel. Happy Nesting! Hey, take lots of pics...this is a Met Monday post in the making! :-)

Hi BJ! I'm so glad to be back and catching up with you. I love the wreath you put together. I have been tearing things apart too since I got home from Florida. A week ago I just couldn't think about Fall but this week I am starting to feel the love. I'm cleaning and tearing things apart and getting rid of things too! I will be decorating for Autumn in the next week or two:>) Now I need to finish reading your posts that I missed!
Your nesting is looking very cozy BJ. I love everything that you do. I can't get into the nesting spirit because I am living in two houses. My old one, which is sold and not mine anymore and my new one, that we are fixing up but not living in yet! I am betwixed and between.

Hi BJ,
OMG, I so love this wreath that you put together. It is just beautiful. Over the fireplace it looks so wonderful and inviting. I also love the blue secretary desk. It is just beautiful. I wish Fall would hurry up and come to visit here. I am so tired of the Phoenix heat. Happy Nesting sweet thing. Thanks for sharing. Please stop by and say hi. I would so love to have you visit. Country hugs, Sherry
That wreath is stunning. Combining the two certainly made one gorgous item for this location.
BJ, you did great!
BJ, I just adore that wreath!!! Haven't really started to do a seasonal change here yet. Right now it feels more like summer, than summer did.
God bless.
Hi BJ Girl!!
First of all, you are a sweetheart to put those UGLY Roosters on your blog!!! I should just send them right over to you!! Noooo, wouldn't do that to my fave blogger friend!!
Your nesting has really put me in the mood. I need a decorating closet. Actually, I need a closet!!! I share with everyone because hubby has the entire master bedroom closet. Don't want to wrinkle those suits!!
Putting those two wreaths together is ingenious. I think I may be able to do that for fall. So far I have been picking up things here and there that I like and piling them up in the den which is sort of my "Don't Anyone Touch" room!! lol! I am happy people have been showing their mantels because I have a hard time with mine. Either I want too much on it or I think it is too bare. Never heard of the 3 to 1 rule. Three items on one side and 1 on the other? I try not to be a clutter person but I think it is in my genes. Even the Lakehouse kitchen~that was going to be white and functional and only pretty white things. I have junk all over!!! ;-)
Well, thanks again with the Ugly Rooster button. Gawd, it's ugly!!
xoxo

Well, I just can't imagine any wreath looking more beautiful over your mantle! I love it and all your decoration ideas are always worthy of duplicating! Have a blessed day:)
Hi BJ....your Fall nesting is wonderful. Everything makes me feel so warm and welcomed!!!
I was also wondering about your question about...do we relink up with every new Fall nesting post. Do you know? I don't.
Hugs, Barb
Hi BJ -
I love what you've done in your home. I want to get busy 'nesting' but right now I'm nesting in our travel trailer. We are going to the Oregon Coast for a family reunion over the coming weekend. I'm doing some decorating in our trailer - hope to show it soon. Enjoy the changes you've made. They're perfect!

Hey, I happen to like the little bird on the mantel! I'd keep him there just out of decorator spite.
Ooh girl, I can just smell those apples frying! I've never tried that but I bet my girls would love it!
Justine :o )
Those candle sticks are so pretty :)
Thanks for stopping by and especially for leaving a comment. Can't wait to see what "french black" looks like on your bakers rack!
OMG, BJ, I have missed two of your posts. LOL. My age is catching up with my brain. I just can't let this happen!!! You are doing fall cleaning and I haven't finished spring cleaning. I know, it's fall just around the corner. Being gone all summer has been hard to deal with. As much fun as it was, I don't want to do it again. We are still trying to catch up with summer yard work. However, I am painting inside my house. It does mean cleaning off tables etc. too. A big job when A person has too many THINGS. I am trying so hard to remember less is best. I am not a 'less' kind of gal. Anyway I am looking forward to your new nesting look. Or fall look.
I was overwhelmed with your outdoor post. Wow, the tired looks on everyone's face tells the story perfectly. Grape picking is NOT EASY! I hope all went well. The grapes look wonderful.
Have a great day my sister friend. Take it easy with your fall clean up girl. Don't over do it!
Hugs...Jeanne
Oops, I got so carried away I forgot to tell you how beautiful your wreath looks. If anyone can tweak something, it is you BJ. Decorating is an art with you. I love everything you do. Can't wait to see more.
Hugs xoxo, Jeanne, again!
Jean, I just love that wreath you made and the little bird looks like he belongs with it. You did really achieve that clean, uncluttered look. You'll enjoy it for a little change.
Ladies who read this blog------you'll just never know how talented this little lady is! I do believe she can make anything look good or taste good as the case may be. I just stand in awe of her abilities. And she has a wonderful personality to go with it! Oooooh, the Lord really blessed her real good! I love her!
Martha
Oh my those apples look so good!! Love how you change things up for fall,it all looks so fresh and nice, thanks for coming by!! All the best,SEA
I am impressed with your effort to get into that fall mood. Funny, we were doing the same thing...a little autumn cleaning? The wreath came out great!
I came here from The Inspired Room and I have lingered here just listening to your beautiful playlist!
Your fall nesting is wonderful!!! I am getting in the mood just watching!!!
I just love Fall and all of it's glory!!!
Enjoy!!!
XOXO
