BAKERS RACK gets a NESTING makeover...and CHERRY PIE for dessert

I am linking to THE INSPIRED ROOM and FOODIE FRIDAY..

NESTING continues at SWEET NOTHINGS cottage....
I've been working on my dining room...getting things changed around...
adding a little freshness here and a little spice there....
getting all ready for a new season...
I must say that I am having to force myself to do this..it is still in the mid 90's here and summertime things are STILL on my mind.

My son and his family still visit the lake each weekend...some of my summertime flowers are still blooming...

MR. SWEET and I are still eating ICE CREAM !! :)
***

This is what my BAKERS RACK aka DISPLAY RACK has looked like for the last couple of years. It was ok...it fact, I've enjoyed it very much.....it was painted in a nice cottage green but now...it sports a beautiful, smooth, FRENCH BLACK...

It holds lots of "stuff" and, believe me, I have LOTS OF STUFF.....

One of these days, when SOCIAL SECURITY is feeling extra generous, I may just find that perfect, pine, olden, hand-rubbed finish, HUTCH that I pine for...(pun intended...:O)

......but, in the meantime, I just wanted to give this little fragile looking rack a new dress...
and, of COURSE, that meant moving it from one side of the room to the other.....*shrugging shoulders.."beats me..."

I AM JUST BESIDE MYSELF with this PRECIOUS sign that SUSIE HARRIS made for me. She is so talented and her work is absolutely A-1 PLUS.

YES, MA'AM...she is very good at what she does. ...and once you order, she has it out to you so fast I can't believe it. MY THANKS TO YOU, SUSIE...

I laughed at her little note to me that said, "I am about to learn your address by heart!" ....I have bought several CHRISTMAS gifts from her...I haven't been able to blog about them as they are for people that read my blog every day or so....Be sure to stop by Susie's blog and take a look in her ETSY shop. She has some of the cutest things...always coming up with the BESTEST ideas. So many of her things are ONE OF A KIND which is what I love to give as gifts.

BUT....THIS SIGN IS MINE !! I am sure it will find it's way all over the cottage, at one time or another, but for now, it's new home is in the NESTED DINING ROOM......

My two brass french ladles are looking mighty fine in their new home...just hanging out with the bottom of this rack...I guess I don't have a collection of these ladles...I am thinking someone famous said THREE OR MORE constitutes a collection....OR...is it TWO OR MORE ?

(Is it just me or is the one on your right almost like one of those pictures you have to really look at and concentrate on to see if it is backwards or forwards...?...When I first look at it, it looks like the INSIDE of the ladle...stare at it a little bit and it becomes the BACK side....which is correct...I have been looking at it all evening...I don't know...maybe it's time to tweak my meds and....go on to bed...!!

GOOD GRIEF !!

Only a little change to this rack...not much at all but just enough that it feels fresh to me....
I like that feeling. Plus every single thing on it got a good washing and that ALWAYS makes me feel good.

I made another Cherry pie the other evening and realized I didn't have enough dough made up for a top crust. Sooo, I just made a CHERRY PIE CRISP out of it and may I just say......O HONEY...
**
Just your regular crisp recipe....oats, butter, pecans, sugar, more pecans, cinnamon...sprinkle over the top of the cherries and you are on to something GOOOOD...

It was all MR.SWEET could do to keep from slicing it before it cooled in the window.

He was afraid it would be like in the olden days when people put their pies in the window to cool and some little naughty boy would come along and snitch it and run like crazy...

I said " noooo...first of all, there's no hungry little boys around here and second...
there's a storm window on there...remember!!?!!"
.....we cut it anyway, while it was still warm and put a couple scoops of
Vanilla Bean ice cream on it...
I mean, you only pass this way once...right !!
**
Yep, I'm gettin' silly here so ...
see ya later..
HAVE FUN NESTING....

OH bj! That looked so delicious...and I am gaining weight like a little pig since I was sick. Going so long without eating...I now gobble like a hog!
(was...that from Gone With The Wind?) :)
Your bakers rack looks darling! I especially liked your dishes under glass. :)
I need to start baking again. I miss my own cooking.
I just bought the most beautiful ladle last Saturday at a garage sale. I am posting it tomorrow. I love it and...nearly didn't buy it..Thank heavens I did because if I hadn't...and seen you with those...I would have cried.
I am such a fan of yours and love everything you do!!
Hugs.. :)

Isn't it funny how doing something so simple can bring so much pleasure? Your simple little overhaul brought a change to your room AND made you feel good! I love your red tray and the painted tin flower holder. So a la Francais... And gee, did you pie look good. I agree... I'd come over for coffee and a piece of the pie too.

I just love your blog site. You did a great job on that bakers rack, it looks beautiful. Thanks for inspiring me, I have an old bakers rack under an outside shelter that I may be able to spruce up a bit. The cherry pie crumble sure looked good too girl! I bet it didn't last long around the house.

Oh Bj, that pie looks so good! The bakers rack looks fabulous. One of the reasons I like to tear a room apart and rearrange things is because I get a chance to really clean off all the little areas that don't get touched (and there are a whole lot of those!) It always makes everything seem new and fresh. We are going to be so ready to cozy up in our homes for fall:>)

Hi BJ! Your bakers rack looks great and so does that pie! The sign that Susie made for you is perfect. You are so good to be getting Christmas gifts. It's on my mind but I haven't made a move yet.

We are off to Texas this weekend to visit family. Woo Hoo. We always sing The Yellow Rose of Texas when we cross the border. :)

Your bakers rack looks faulous BJ! And yes, the ladle on the right does look like it is backwards when you look at it. Funny the way you eyes can play tricks on you.

Love your Conklin sign...

Hi BJ!!! Congratulations! You won the birds from Inglenook Decor that I posted about at TT. I'm posting right now. Please send me your address. I'll be leaving town on Sunday, and I'll be back on Thursday, so if you can get the address to me soon, I'll make sure that I send them out to you tomorrow! Congrats again! :) I know you're going to make them look good!

I think your bakers rack looks great in its new colors and with all its "stuff" it is perfect. Now about that pie, does it ever look good and cherry and pecan are my very favorites. Good thing I am not your next door neighbor, I might have been sorely tempted to stitch it, nah but manners be gone I would invite myself over for sure! Have a great weekend.

Love the baker's rack! And that picture ... if you had been trying to make an optical illusion, you probably wouldn't have been able to! I kept looking at that, then I would blink, and see it differently! All your pictures are lovely.

And by the way, cherry pie is my favorite! I don't make it very often because DH doesn't care that much for them and I would end up eating the whole pie!

Have a great Labor Day weekend!

BJ, your baker's rack and the sign you got are darling. I would love to have the pie, but I am determined this time to lose weight, and help Mr. Roy stay on his diet...he has lost about 20 pounds. I am really proud of him. We will come visit next spring and you can serve us cherry pie then.

Hard to get ready for fall in this weather, but it has dropped to high 90's instead of 100 plus.

Happy Labor Day weekend.
