MY HUMBLE ABODE....

Abode :
House, a human-built dwelling with enclosing walls, a floor, and a roof ...
**
My abode is very humble, small and loved.....
It's a 50's Ranch and pretty much like every other house on the block..
I strive to make it 'just a little different' from all the rest....
**
My friend, JUSTINE, asked to see the outside of my cottage....
Soooo....this one is for YOU, TINEY

The large windows on the right are in our dining room...
I love my little handpainted mail box. I bought it at a local craft mall....
The metal flag was made by a granddaughter...
Thanks again, JESSICA.
O, and the cool, iron 'CONKLIN' above my house numbers...our son, DAVID, made this when he was still in high school. *heavy sigh and bursting heart.

This is the house where we raised our two precious children...the house that all 10 of our sweet grands call, MEMAW'S HOUSE...I am pretty sure that I will never move from this little, plain vanilla house. So many fine and treasured memories here...I just love it...IT'S HOME !

The little cottage- white bench is a purchase from Goodwill about 25 years ago.
My mother was with me when I bought it...
I sure would rather have my little mama than this stinkin' ole bench !!!
*

As you can see...SWEET NOTHINGS really IS a cottage...
NOW...come on inside and let's have....
breakfast !
*
We're going to go the healthy route this morning with a good-for-ya cereal and fresh, large, juicy, ripe , sweet
STRAWBERRIES.....
*
Our healthy cereal comes with fruit and YOGURT...
add strawberries to THAT and we're eating healthy...
and not a lot of calories....

O ! WAIT!
I cooked a large loaf of bread...
Hot, right out of the oven....
See all that butter ?
Now I ask you....
does THIS add calories to that HEALTHY breakfast we started out with ???
***
I just love all ya'll and I hope your day is fantastic !!

BJ, your front porch is so darling! How precious is the flag!? Jessica did a great job. I love how David added the scroll to frame on Conklin. Love the mailbox. Your strawberries look so yummy and your baked bread is making my mouth water!

I'm glad to see you worked out the problem with the font sizes!

Have a great Tuesday!

You have NO idea how fantastic that looks to me! I will never be able to eat strawberries again but...I can look at them!
What beautiful and well framed pictures you take, bj! You can photograph the simplest of things and they are gorgeous!
My home is like yours...simple and probably very ordinary but it is home. Though I didn't raise my children here...H and his wife raised theirs...nearly every single thing in it is mine so my children see "home" when they visit.
Like you, I try to make mine special and I am only beginning... :)
Hugs to you, bj! I loved this post.

BJ, your cottage is just wonderful! We'd like to move into a ranch house (the stairs are getting to be a bother). Your front porch welcoming! I could live on bread and butter!

Woooooooo hooooooooooo! I'm SO glad you posted this for me, BJ! I love being able to picture where my blog friends are living. You call it a cottage, which is sooooooo cute, because woman, that is a ranch. But you've made it feel like a cottage, haven't you? You've even got precious memories on the outside of your house. I love that!

And oh my, those strawberries look SO good. They ones we're getting from you neck of the woods right now all look like hell. glad someone is getting the good ones.
And the bread? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Good Mornig BJ. :) The outside of your home is just perfect, like I thought! It looks like you. I love the plants, the bench, the mailbox, and that big window! Of course, let's not forget that fabulous porch swing...I still might drive by and sit on it some night.

Have a great day!

Hi BJ, I LOVE your ranch cottage home. The best part is your wonderful memories that have happened in your charming home. The bench will always make you think of your mom. Besides that, it is a wonderful bench that looks perfect on your fron porch.

I too love Kellogg's strawberry cereal. BUT, your bread is mouth watering. Ok I'm going now to fix my breakfast. You made me hungry. I will have to settle for plain old wheat bread, but I will make it delicious with my homemade blackberry preserves. Mmmmmm.

Love you sister friend, Jeanne

I so enjoyed seeing your pretty cottage! I think its just perfect. How wonderful to have all those special keepsakes from those so near and dear to you!

Yummy breakfast too. That's what I have every morning too, a whole grain cereal with dried strawberries, and lately I've been adding fresh blueberries, and a thing of yogurt, plus orange juice to keep up my calcium. I skip the bread though, lol, but it sure does look delicious! I can practically smell it and taste it all the way here in Ohio.

Hi, BJ -
Your cottage is adorable. I love your porch and I'm thinking of doing something different with mine. Shhh, I haven't told my hubby yet! He will probably think I'm absolutely nuts. Or, he may think I'm a genius. Your photos gave me a couple of ideas and the 'push' I need. Maybe I can see him on the thought that I can cut down the plants that need to be watered if I make a bigger porch! Our cottage is a 60's vintage ranch and there's so much personality we can add to make them different than the others nearby. You've done a great job with yours and I loved hearing about everything you treasure.
