LET THERE BE WHITE.....

I ADORE white dishes...
especially olden ones, and whites can be mixed and matched with such ease.
**

CUISINE KATHLEEN IS HAVING ANOTHER....
"SHOW US YOUR WHITES.."
a chance to play with our white dishes...
Be sure to go over and see her white table and all the other in Blogland that are joining in.
KATHLEEN has the cutest blog and, better yet, her personality is so so precious.
Stop by and read a few of her posts...you'll see what I mean !!
I'm just nuts about her !!
**
Thank you for coming to see me today.
**

I decided to set up my all white table in the library end of my living room. One whole end wall is shelving and I am so proud of it and I do call it THE LIBRARY. (the shelves were a THRIFTED buy).
I STILL have room for more books and I know that I will never, EVER be able to read all the books I already have. It's just nice to "pick a book" when I feel like reading without searching all over the house for one......plus, I LOVE the way books make a room feel grounded.
I've always wanted some pretty LEATHER bound books and I keep a watch over at Ebay for just such books.
I've not found any I can afford as yet....but .....I WILL !!
They are on my SWEET NOTHINGS COTTAGE MOST WANTED LIST...
***

I am using a mixture of vintage, white dishes. The plates are FEDERALIST IRONSTONE, purchased at the BEST thrift store. I am always on the watch for pieces to put with them. The smaller plates are marked INDEPENDENCE IRONSTONE..all made in JAPAN. The vintage rhinestone bracelet on the napkin belonged to my mother. I just like the bling it brings to my table.
*
**

A beautiful, little hand towel with a pretty border and an awesome monogram that I have placed beneath one of the settings. I don't care one bit that it isn't OUR monogram. This came from Ebay...and I want some more. ONE is never enuf for me!

**
The beautiful silver candle stick was given to me from Beautiful Daughter, the green goblets were my mother's. I sure would rather have my mama than these old, green goblets !! The pretty little glass paperweight with the rose etched in it that says LOVE GROWS was given to me by my kids when they were little bitty. *gulp
*

The olden ironstone pitcher...a thrift store find. Silk tulips..from the local craft mall about 13 years ago. I still love them to this very day.
*

Ironstone gravy boat and the Johnson Brothers olden sugar bowl are from Ebay.
My flatware is by Oneida and the silver sugar spoon belonged to my mom.
*

Thanks so much for coming by to see my WHITES...

What a fun time I had putting this together...
and MR SWEET got to eat every bit of that fruit because he is feeling bad, sore throat and sniffles and he
NEEDED FRUIT !!
"I hope you feel much, MUCH better really soon, sweetie."
*NOTE...
He is feeling MUCH better!!

Very pretty tablescape, BJ. Love how you added the pearls, makes it look very elegant. I also love your octagonal dishes, so unusual...Christine

There's nothing prettier than white - and pearls :) Bling with class!

I love your white-shelved library and what a great background for your post.

BJ, I am soooo glad we are dining in the library...is there anything more romantic and perfect?! I love seeing all your books and lovelies on the shelves! I feel your pain on the leather bound book search...I haven't been able to find many that weren't a ridiculous price. Oh, you must visit the library in Biltmore one day...oh. my. gosh! I can't imagine the expense in that one room. Ok, I digress.
:-) I love your ironstone...it's beautiful! And your monogram napkins are wonderful! Isn't ebay just the most fun! I've just recently begun to collect monogrammed napkin rings...don't you love the thrill of the hunt. I'm with you...who cares the monogram...it's just so special that it has one. Beautiful table setting!

Very pretty! The pearl garland is a wonderful touch. The silk tulips add such a great colour! Aren't faux flowers great? Even though we aren't suppose to have them anymore, I still love mine!

Oh this table is so pretty BJ ! I have been hunting me some pretty whites, I want some with the pretty lacey edges, but can't find any.
I sure am glad you are back girl !! I missed ya !

Sue said...

Hi BJ, I love all white, too. The shape of your plates is so cool- you don't really see it much. The addition of your Mother's green glassware brought a punch of color to an already elegantly set table. :-) Sue

Very beautiful, warm and inviting tablescape. Everything was perfect.
I don't think anything makes a table or room more warm and inviting than things that have been gently used or we can remember
from our youth. You have a beautiful home.

Mornin' Dearheart...

Ahhh..so glad that Mr. Sweet is feeling better!!!

My friend, your all white dishes are absolutely gorgeous! I've seen that old Independence pattern of Ironstone...love the octagonal sides (or how ever many sides it has...hehe!) Love the pretty pink and white tulips and that you pulled the green from the leaves into your use of the green goblets! So very pretty! Ohhh...and I just love that you set this table in your library...that just feels sooo special! I was just thinking that I need to find a different place than my red dining room to do a few tablescapes...I'm sure everyone is getting bored with seeing my same ol' settings!!! So this is wonderful!!! I love your library...love the looks and feel of it! I don't know...there's just something that books can do for decor...gives it a homey, lived in look, I think! Sure hope you can find you some leather books!!! I'll help keep an eye out as well, Darlin'!

Loved seeing all of your sweet memory momentos too!!! Thank you for sharing this beautiful table with us today, my friend! It's truly lovely!!!

Have a terrific Tuesday!
Love ya,
Chari

So fun! Love the shape of the ironstone plates. That's one of the wonderful things about white, it makes us appreciate the overall design of the plate.

I too went with pearls!!!

Thanks for your sweet note this morning. I grabbed your button and put it on my sidebar.

BJ, I want to tell you that your home makes me want to sit down and have a good chat and a tall glass of iced tea. And a bite or two of whatever confection you have baked. Because I know you cook like a dream. I love your white dishes. And your bookshelves are spacious and heavenly. I love my bookshelves. Just like to glance over there, as I'm doing at the moment, and gaze at my books all orderly and stacked up waiting for me. I think I'll just take your button along back with me to Cozy Little House. And maybe I'll take that Texas Blogger thing too if it's okay.
