AUGUST..NATIONAL BROWNIES FOR BRUNCH MONTH...

TUESDAY, 8/4/09
NATIONAL BROWNIES FOR BRUNCH MONTH !!
***
I had NO idea whatsoever that such a thing existed...

My sweetest in the world Mother*in*Law had the best brownie recipe I have ever tried. I don't make them ofter since DUNCAN HINES and I are pretty much married...
but, when I DO take the time to make homemade, I ALWAYS use her recipe...
**
BROWNIES TO DIE FOR

2 cups sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 cup melted oleo
4 eggs
2 teaspoons Vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1 to 2 cups chopped pecans
**
Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 -35 minutes
using an 11x16 cake pan.
**
ICING

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup oleo
1/2 cup milk
2 Tablespoons White Karo Syrup
1/8 teaspoon salt
***
Cook to soft ball , cool and add 1/2 to 1 box powdered sugar until thick enough to spread on the cooled brownies.
********************
WHEW...just typing this recipe makes me so hungry for one with an ice cold glass of milk.!!
*
***

You may remember this BROWNIE from last month...
I haven't made any lately because MR. SWEET and I will eat every single one
until they are completely gone and neither of us really need the sweets that much.
BUMMER !!
*

Let's just look at it and drool all over the place !!
there's whipped cream, cherry, grapes,
and PECANS all through that Brownie.....
**heavy sigh........
HAPPY BROWNIE MONTH....!!

I do love brownies and only make them for a function. We tend to keep the lid open on the brownie container, they are so good. I always use the mix, tried one recently that was double-chunk, yummy. Have a sweet day!

Morning, Dear BJness! Oh, my favorite food - brownies! These look so good. I'm going to keep this recipe for myself! :)
Thanks for popping in to see me. I felt like going over and knocking the cap off Robert Duvall's head, but Mr. Precious wouldn't let me! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

My absolute favorite!! I know I have to be careful when I make brownies as we could eat the whole pan at once! I just noticed that red glass with the lemon floating in it. Love it, and I've been looking for something similar. I kick myself for not buying some I saw like it in Paris. Sally

BJ, your mother-in-law's brownie recipe sounds delicious and looks like it would be easy to make. I'm going to print it and hope to make them this weekend when Avery comes to visit. She loves cooking with me.

Thank you so much for sharing your sweet mother-in-law's recipe.

Stopping by from SITS to say hello! Love the brownie recipe. I'm not much of a baker, but my husband loves to fiddle around in the kitchen. This one might be a good one for him to try (and for me to enjoy!)
