grandmothers can brag if they want to.....

WOW...it's THURSDAY already....
Is time flyin' by as fast for YOU as it is for ME ?? BUT...this happens to be VINTAGE THINGY THURSDAY
so that means F.U.N.
Thanks to SUZANNE at COLORADO LADY for hosting...
She has a list of other vintage lovers for your enjoyment...
AND
my thanks for coming by to see mine...
*
THIS is 5 of the 7 granddaughters...
that's LACEY in the front seat...
then BRYNNA and BAILEY in the middle..
DEEDS and ANDREA at the back...
Oh, I have to say...Oh Honey !!
and, NO....
not a single one of them are
VINTAGE .....
THAT WOULD BE...ME !!
*
DEEDS had to make a poster last year on
GRANDPARENTS DAY at school....
SHE was in KINDERGARTEN
*notice here the spelling of CONKLIN...hee heee..love it !
*
Bless her heart, she chose me for her subject...
(of course, it was nice that her mommy knew a little early history on me..:O)
that 1942 pic is of my grandpa, a cousin and my little self...
*
and, let me tell you right here...
I LOVED THAT CHEVY......
WOO HOO...I thought I was SO SO fine....
*
I laughed so hard when I saw this area of the little poster..
HGTV....oh, yes ma'am....I did love to watch it.!
and LOVED RATE MY SPACE...for awhile..
all the family, including little DEEDS, teased me about it !!
*
I tried my hand at quilting and made quite a few of the
EXTREMELY easy ones...
in fact, I don't sew but I so wanted each of our 10 grandkids
to have a handmade quilt from their Memaw..
in one year, I made every one of them a quilt...
now, shhhhh....don't tell them that the quilts aren't
all that pretty...they THINK they are !!
But, now they each have a quilt from their VINTAGE grandmother that I hope
they will always be glad for.
I didn't have a grandmother..both died before I was born...
but if I DID have one, I sure would love a quilt or anything else
that she made...
*
I am pretty sure I don't have to tell you how proud I was
to go to GRANDPARENTS DAY .....and find this cute,
bright green poster, JUST filled with love, hanging in the hall of the school...
BWAAAAAAAAAA....

This is the sweetest post. Everytime you talk about your grandkids calling you Memaw, it so pulls on my heartstrings. That is the beloved name I called my precious grandmother.

Hats off to you for taking the time to make something handmade for your grandchildren. Too bad more people do not see the importance in that and too bad they don't take the time to do something like that.

I treasure the one item I have that my grandmother sewed for me. I just wish I would have kept more things....

Have a great week!

What a lovely post BJ. I love that you made each of your grandchildren a quilt. My maternal grandmother made each of us one and gave it to us when we got married. Then, when she passed away, we found a new quilt for each grandchild laid up and awaiting our next anniversary. I still hold them as 2 of my most prized possesions! Thank you for sharing your lovely granddaughters with us! Have a great day!

Many hugs.........

Diane

Oh you are the clever one to share yourself as vintage. I'm vintage too, just in my mind I'm still the same age I ever was. :-)

You made me giggle this morning presenting yourself as vintage! Your grandkids are the cat's meow! What cute cute kids! I would just love to be sitting in that chevy right now!

Amelia will be 2 in June and for the first year I couldn't even hold her without crying, and read a book to her, OH MY I would start choking up before I got to the last page! Those childrens books are so sentimental! LOL! Your grandkids are lucky to have you near and dear, enjoy BJ!! xo

Awww BJ, I love your grandkids and I don't even know them. They have the kind of relationship I missed with my grandmother's. We moved to Fl. when I was 9 and they were in MI.

Your poster is just the sweetest 'thingie' ever. I remember your post about the quilts. You made me encouraged to finish the quilt projects I haven't touched in two years. Yes, I am going to get them done!!!

I love your post today. Thank you for sharing your treasure.

Hugs xoxo...Jeanne

Hi there, I am hosting a book swap over on my blog. It is a permanent feature, which will always be on my blog, it is not a one off, like the rose theme swap I'm hosting. I have listed a load of my books which I am willing to swap, take a look, there may be some you fancy. If you would like to list books which you no longer want, and are willing to swap, just contact me at rosehyacinth@hotmail.co.uk, or leave a comment on my blog, with your name, the name of your blog and the books you wish to swap, and I will type them up and post them on the swap page, so the more and more people who participate, the wider the range of books there will be to choose from, and remember, it will always be there on my blog.
Take Care

Such a wonderful display of love...you for your grandchildren and then the "Poster". That child certainly does show her love for her GrandMother.

You are building wonderful memories for all those children.

What a special tribute!! Loved all of the pictures on the poster. We also have grandparent's day at our kid's school, and have lunch there with the kids and tour their classrooms. The cooks always make great cinnamon rolls, and we have a wonderful time making memories. Sally

How very sweet! I loved hearing about all the things you do with your grandchildren and knowing the beautiful memories you are building with them.
My Mom died when my son was two and I wish so much he could have had his MeMaw. (I would have loved to have my Mom, she was a special lady)
