A DELICIOUS FOODIE FRIDAY ~

Be sure to head over to GOLLUM'S beautiful cottage
and see all the wonders of FOOD.....
thank you for coming by to see mine!
*
*
YEP...another FRIEND LUNCHEON...
and it was so so FUN..
*
*
*
My share of this friendly lunch was to be
DEVILED EGGS.....
*
So I boiled the eggs for 15 minutes....
(don't you love this little blue-banded vintage bowl
that belonged to mom?)
*
While the eggs boiled, I chopped some
VIRGINIA BAKED HAM
to go into our Deviled Eggs...
*
along with finely chopped fresh onion, celery,
sweet Banana peppers....
a little sweet relish...
*
and a multitude of other ingredients...
this is something that everyone has favorites that they add...
I always use HELLMAN'S mayo....we like a touch
of LOUISIANA HOT SAUCE....
*
and sprinkled with Paprika.......
then served on a pretty plate...OF COURSE!!
*
I was to furnish the dessert and one of MY favorites is
freshly baked ANGEL FOOD CAKE.....
FRUIT SALAD, with chopped pecans and WHIPPED CREME...
*
What a lovely table MARTHA set for us...
Aren't her dishes just beautiful !?
I just love them to pieces...
but I love MARTHA more !!
*
Her centerpiece was this fabulous vintage Carnival Glass bowl...
just full of pretty, fresh fruits...
I'm not certain but I am thinking the bowl belonged to her mother.
*
Oh ! Honey....
Little Smokies, simmering in the most delicious sauce...
homemade Red beans, chock full of chunks of delicious ham, peppers, and other secret ingredients....
a delightful Green Salad .....
creamy Potato Salad....
Deviled Eggs...
Iced tea and, OF COURSE, hot coffee....
*

The great meal ended with the Angel Food cake, topped with Mandarin Oranges, Pineapple Tidbits, Fuji apples and bright red cherries, and sprinkled throughout with chopped pecans....all this topped with REAL whipped, sweet creme....along with that hot, rich coffee ........

IT WAS A DAY TO BE REMEMBERED !!

XO bj

My mother-in-law served angel food cake with fruit, pecans & whipped cream all mixed together. The family always called it "Cake & Goop". Thanks for reviving the memory - I'll have to make some for my husband. Sally

Some people just know how to cook, and you are one of those people! I adore deviled eggs--it's one of the things that makes low carb dieting tolerable. But these eggs are art! Your friends look so darling, and I know you have a blast when y'all are together. I love your Mom's bowl.

BJ, next time, leave some for me! LOL
I love deviled eggs but we're kind of cowards when it comes to anything with pickles, so I'll try your recipe sans the relish.

I'm building up my menu for Easter... :-)

Looks like a great little luncheon. How nice to get together with friends and eat and gab! Your deviled eggs are unique. I would love to try them. Thanks for sharing! I also have all the makings for that wonderful looking dessert. I do that with just fruit but the angel cake will make it ever better.
