ANOTHER VINTAGE THINGY THURSDAY...

VINTAGE THINGY THURSDAY is such a fun event...
Hosted each Thursday by SUZANNE at COLORADO LADY, it gives each of us a chance
to talk about some of the vintage things we love.
She has a list of others so be sure to stop by....
and THANK YOU for coming by to see me today.
*
A LARGE lumber company went out of business here in our West Texas town years ago
and they were selling EVERY THING...stock, fixtures and all..
I saw this little metal display rack at the back of the store
and instantly could see that it would make a darling baker's rack of sorts.
*
They sold it to me for $5.00 and I drug it all the way to our pickup...
*
I spray painted it a delightful, garden GREEN, put a few
large ceramic tiles on it, hung my vintage large brass ladles from it...and, walla....
*
There it is...over there in that far, right corner...
It has served me well and I change the flavor of it often.
Sometimes, it's like a wine rack with bottles of good BLACKBERRY wines,
pretty thrifted wine glasses...faux grape vines and grapes...
It holds a lot of plates and other goodies on the lower
racks and ......well....I just love it.
and another thing I love about it....I don't know a single soul
that has one just like it....:O)
*
Isn't this a pretty wine bottle necklace !
There's a name for them but can't remember just what it is..
I bought this one several years ago at a little boutique here....
*
I have enjoyed my little vintage, metal treasure...
I am getting the urge to go COSTAL in some of my decorating...
Wouldn't some pretty large glass containers filled with lovely shells
and maybe a couple of those FISH vases I've been seeing ALL OVER BLOGLAND
and .....whatever else is associated with the WATER...
It might look a little strange, tho...out here on the PLAINS OF WEST TEXAS.!!
**********
HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY.....

I sold mine and it was gorgeous. I think I just didn't have room for it when I moved..however...I wish I had it now. I have wished that a couple of times. I remember how bad I wanted that thing!!
Yours looks SO cute. You did a great job! CUTE!! A nice addition. Going back for another look. See if I can get a close up.
:)

Hi BJ...

Girl, what a great find!!! I love your pretty rack and for just $5...fabulous!!! I love the garden green color and you have it decorated just beautifully! I do love those big ol' ladles!!! Of course, I had to enlarge your photo so I could get a birdseye view of everything...I can see that those bottom shelves are great for dish storage!!! That was a fabulous fine, my friend!!!

Well...while I had that photo enlarged, I got to take a peek around your dining room...it's absolutely gorgeous!!! I just love that pretty bluish gray cabinet on the far left of the photo...it was barely peeking out at me! It has such pretty painted designs on it...I would love to see more of it! You have a beautiful home, BJ!!!

Warmest wishes,
Chari

What a great find BJ! I can see that your five dollar treasure is a great little stage for your sweet ever-changing vignettes!
I too love the "Coastal" look...but my little bungalow so prefers the old world cottage style! I did a decorating job though that we did a coastal beach house look in a master bedroom and bath....I wish my scanner was working so I could scan the pics and show you...but e-mail me if you would like a few ideas...even ideas to use some of the treasures you already have displayed on you lovely rack! I have been quite busy and have missed visitng you...I hope to post for VTT today.....

I love your Baker's rack. It looks so sweet in the corner and I love the color. I have one very similar but it is stuck in a bedroom as I have no room in my dining room but it is going to have to move soon due to a re-decorate...going to have to get creative. I cannot believe you got yours for $5...wow

Great find, BJ. If you go coastal, you could also get pots of tall grasses, like sea grass.
Hope you've checked out my giveaways!

Great Baker's Rack, BJ! Isn't it funny where we find some of our most cherished treasures? I can picture you in my mind dragging it across the parking lot to your truck. Every year when I return from a beach vacation, I want to decorate with a water theme. Of course when I return from the mountains, I want a mountain lodge theme. Guess I just love vacations.
