OH, BOY...FOODIE FRIDAY....

GOLLUM is our beautiful hostess for this
fabulous FOODIE FRIDAY
and don't you love her cute personality..that 'foodie"
is such a playful and fun word....
just like this delicious event...so be sure to go over
and leave our hostess a big thank you and some kind words...
then, sit back and watch all the delicious foods coming our way....
*
Is this not the best looking picnic basket you've ever seen !!
Sweet GOLLUM awarded this to me as a door prize and let me just say.....
IT IS MAGNIFICENT !

MY MANY THANKS, GOLLUM!!
*
From the leather straps to the bright RED plaid lining...
The rich color of the woven basket to the awesome WINE BOTTLE CORK SCREW...
The adorable wine glasses to the little matching napkins...
PERFECTION !
*
ummm, the fruit of the vine...... *
*

LET'S GO ON A PICNIC !!
**
it's the perfect time of year...NO ANTS !!
*
For a good sandwich, we like to cook our brisket outside on the smoker...
I do cook it in the oven every now and then,
but it takes so long and the oven
has to stay on so long..... and I don't like having to stick around
all day....and night....(i don't like leaving my oven on while I am gone cause I'm a TITTY BABY !)
and besides, the smell of it cooking
just makes me too hungry....
*
A simple, no-fuss way to do a brisket ,on occasion...
just gather your ingredients that you like,
cook in your crock pot over night and the next day
and it is so tender and good and lots of juicy gravy...
Mr. SweetNothings likes that gravy over mashed potatoes .....and so do I !! :O(
**
BUT....not for a picnic...
a brisket sandwich, potato salad and a good wine....
MY KIND OF PICNIC....
*
And, now thanks to SWEET GOLLUM,
we have a BEAUTIFUL picnic basket to take
to our pretty park.....
***
and.... I WANTED a big HUNK of cheese for my photos...
didn't have one so don't 'cha laugh at my
ONE SLICE OF EXTRA SHARP CHEDDAR here !
**(at the time, i couldn't go to the store for that hunk of cheese
that would have looked so great with these
loaves of bread...couldn't drive for awhile yet)
;O)
*
such a beautiful, sun filled day out here in WEST TEXAS for taking these
photos outside....
*
I LOVE IT...I LOVE GOLLUM AND I LOVE ALL OF YOU!!

XO bj
ain't life grand !!

If I cook my brisket in the oven I put on all my rubs and spices and cover well I heat the over to 250 degrees and put in the oven at bed time. When I wake up it s tender and falling apart. The bad thing about 5 am. you are ready to climb out of bed hehe.
I loved the picnic.

When painting that cabinet- we first with kilz, then used a soft white (a favorite is China White by Pittsburg. And usually a good distressing when the paint is dry!

Hi BJ,
Your brisket looks tastier then my chicken on the fryin' pan, lol! I have never made brisket before, mostly because I didn't know how. But, thanks for the tip, and I will now be doing a brisket in my crockpot for one of those delicious sandwichs!

What a lovely door prize BJ! You have picninc weather!? Lucky lady:>) It is a whole 64 degrees here and I am so excited! You would probably think that was cold but it's practically summer here in Michigan. I am laughing about the one slice of cheese but only because it's so cute. How is your leg doing? Is the stint helping?

Aahhh, what a sweet post. I love your picnic basket and your idea for a picnic with brisket sandwiches.

Funny because this time of the year, I LOVE having my oven on for long periods of time to heat up the house! It really does produce a smell, doesn't it?

Thank you so much for your visit to my blog this morning. I hope you'll stop by again really soon.

Oh yes, Miss Jean, those briskets in the crockpot are so easy to do and taste soooo good! That is one of my family's favorite things. What a wonderful picnic basket. We'll have to go on a picnic one of these days. Your pictures are so pretty. You must have taken them in the last few days while the sunshine is so beautiful here. Another good blog, Missy!

It looks so good. I got rid of my slow cooker a few years agoa because it had worn out. I've never replaced it but I've seen so many good ideas lately for a slow cooker...I'll have to buy another.

I have a picnic basket just like that! It's a little differently styled on the inside, but has the red gingham lining too. I haven't actually taken it out for a picnic yet. Maybe this summer I'll actually have time for that.

That brisket looks really yummy!

I don't leave the oven on when I'm not home either...or the washer or the dryer. You're not alone there!
