I LUV THIS MAGAZINE...

WE'VE LOST A LOT OF THE DECORATING MAGAZINES WE ALL LOVE...
COUNTRY HOME, COUNTRY LIVING, MARY E. (how DO you spell her last name)..
PENNY over at COMFORTS OF HOME
ASKED A FEW WEEKS BACK WHAT MAGAZINE WE LIKED.... I have subscribed to this magazine for over 30 years and
always keep my favorites.....
the rest, I donate to a nursing home close by.
Over the years, I have tried other magazines and love a lot of them....
but this one is still my all-time favorite, I think...at least for this month!! ;O)

This issue is showing so much white and cremes...which I adore.
I have always preferred creamy walls, be they white, soft egg shell colors....even very soft yellows...
*

*

I would give my eye teeth for a room like this...
I keep looking for a spot around my house to carve out a
space such as this... can't find it, tho....SHOOT !!
*
a gardening room, a room to putter around in...
my dream room...
*

just look at this charming sun room or porch...
I NEED ME ONE OF THESE !
*
i love everything in this room...
i love the florals in the couch and chair...
the old blue bench for a coffee table...
this is a perfect example of ENGLISH COUNTRY and
I LOVE IT !
*
i'm pretty sure if i had an enclosed back porch,
it would look a whole lot like this one full of cuteness !
i would LOVE to have one of those vintage, metal,
doctor stools....so cute...
and my dad and step-mother had a table and chairs just like these in
their little apartment kitchen back in the 40's...I sure do
wish I had put my dibs on it....
but, that was a loooong time ago ! and I was too young to even think about it...
********************************
I seem to like SO SO many different styles...
country, country french, romantic french, english,
country english, sometimes i love lodge,
i like a little Shabby...not too much..i use a little in the dining room...
there's just not many styles i don't like..
wonder if i had lots of money and a hugh house if each room
could be decorated differently without folks thinking,
"yep, that ole gal finally lost it !!" ?
it surely would be fun, tho !!
**

GM BJ, yes, that is a good magazine, I've gotten it for years too, but it's getting so there is so much advertisements in it, that I'm really thinking about letting it go this year.I like your stlye of what you like for decorating. My whole house was English Country when we had our vacation home in NC.I wish I could have that again, I never tire of it.Your house is beautiful just the way you have it.
I love Gloria's idea, a SS decorating fund.LOL

Love Ya,
Chris

I recently did an online test of sorts to determine my decorating 'style preference'. I turned up 36% Mountain Lodge, 36% Wine Country and 28% Southwestern. I think that's a pretty accurate description of my style, if I have one?! I have always loved the French Country style with their soft yellows and crisp blues. My husband created the love of Southwestern in me because he loved it so much. The Mountain Lodge I have decided I just love so much because it just makes me feel like I'm on vacation! Great post today, BJ! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Good Morning BJ,
I love all those magazines too. I will be getting BH&G because of there being no more Country Home
;( ! And I do believe I decorate with alittle bit of all styles in my home. I don't know if that is good or bad, but it works for us! If I were by myself I think my whole style of decorating would be different. But my DH likes to have a say in it too, so we have many different styles. I enjoyed your post today, as always!
Have a cheerful day!

I agree, I adore Better Homes and Gardens and have for some years now. I could just get lost in some of the beautiful rooms they feature.

I have decide to redo my screened porch this season. I may have to draw some inspiration from the one you have shown:-)

BJ, I am the same way...I love so many different styles! I think I just mix all of my favorite together! Someone ask me one time, when they were touring my home, what kind of style is my home and I told them.."Fancy Nancy Style" It's so mixed up, but I like it!
I love BHG too! I always subscribe to that one also. Hope you have a wonderful day. Nancy

Love to sit down with a magazine and escape to beautifully decorated homes and gather inspiration. Thanks for sharing these pics.

Each room decorated differently? Girl, you are the reason that magazine went under! For 30 years they tried to teach you, and you say THIS? lol

I've always thought I needed several different houses so I can decorate them all differently. Love that mag too.
Thanks for visiting my blog today. :)

BJ, I wish to give you the Kreativ Blogger award. If you would like to accept, please stop by and pick it up.
Congrats, Candy

Yeah BJ, I'm a BH&G gal too...I hate to admit it, but I haven't looked at the last several issues of it & a couple of others I subscribe to since I spend so much time on the web...I'll get to them sooner or later though. ;-) Bo

Good Morning BJ! I so agree with you that BHG is wonderful. I've always loved Southern Living as much too.

The great thing about BHG is that it's real and the ideas they share are things we can do! I agree with Chris that there are so many advertisements. When the magazine comes, I stand there and pull out all 25 of the renewal cards. :)

I like lots of different styles too. Every time I think I have it down pat another look distracts me. Did you see the house at Nancy's blog yesterday! Oh my Lord! I could move in there.

We are so alike! I always have a hard time commiting to one style, I see so many beautiful rooms and I want to copy them all! Fortunately it all comes down to what is affordable and doing the best I can with what I have. That narrows things down quite a bit:>)

I like BH&G, also. Their books are always great, too. Hope it doesn't go under the way so many other magazines have. Have a good mid-week. Sally

I also LOVE many styles of decorating. BH&G is one of my favorite magazines also. There is something inspiring in every issue. As a matter of fact, I just finished that issue and LOVED it.

I love Country Sampler....and recently I've been buying Country Woman. I have found that I actually like to read the articles...LOL.

Have a great day!

Isn't it fun to dream. I love all of your examples of pretty places.

My favorite magazine is Southern Lady. Are you familiar with it?

Yes this magazine has been around forever and they don't charge a arm and leg for it. I sure like this issue.

I love this magazine too! I say I need lots of houses so I can decorate in all the styles I love and there are so many (: Thanks so much for the visit and I wanted to let you know that the follow button on my blog is on the top right under the header on my blog and I checked to make sure it was still there (;

I had a subscription to Country Home and it doesn't end for a year, so they are sending me BH&G in it's place. I used to get it years ago. I am looking forward to receiving it again.

I told my husband that I need three homes. One Country French, one Swedish, and one English Cottage....

Penny

I agree, I love this magazine, too. I miss my country mags, though.

It is one of my favorite magazines too. I love the white kitchens that are so popular right now and I am finally persuaded that it is not a sin to paint my cabinets.

Don't you just love sitting down with BH&G and slowly turning pages, trying to drink it all in at once and marking the pages that have to be looked at over and over. Great post! ♥ Diane

I'm with you BJ, I love so many different styles. I am able to do a room and be happy with it. My mom loved to decorate and redecorate all the time. With six kids running around the house it probably needed it. LOL I too love the same magazine.
Thanks for a fun post to visit as always.

Hugs. Jeanne

BJ, It really makes me sad that we are losing so many wonderful magazines. I, too, like different styles of decorating. I think that my grandparents had a table and chairs like the one that your dad and step-mother had. Theirs had a silverware drawer built into it. As soon as my floors are done, I am going to get rid of some of my "stuff." I just have too much.

Afternoon, Dear BJness! Oh, I love that mag too! I'm so sad so many are shutting the doors. I don't get it! I buy as many as I can! I don't think I'm just one style either. Heck, I don't even know if I have a style! I just like what I like!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I can't believe all of the magazines going belly up either . If you can't find a place inside for that garden room, put it outside. Do you have a garage or carport ? A big ole tree ? LOL .

Meggie said...

Hey BJ! I, too, like BH&G magazine. I've allowed my subscription on many of them to expire but continually renew my Better Homes one.

What a beautiful magazine. I don't blame you one bit for liking it so much.

God bless.

Oh BJ, I am loving all of those rooms and I love that magazine too. What a great idea to donate them to a retirement home. I'm going to do that!

BJ, I love allll these rooms too...keep looking...there must be someplace you can carve out a garden room or a potting area. Love seeing all those pots stored on the hutch/cabinet! I have the same problem about not being able to limit what I like...so I have decorated many of my rooms very different. I've got Swedish style, English Country and who knows what else going on...and I love it all! :-) So you do what ya like and enjoy!
