The best I remember.....
there were lots of BLUES back in the
FABULOUS FIFTIES...
oh, what a time that was!
*
THANKS to SMILING SALLY, our host for this
BLUE MONDAY..
There's lots of BLUE awaiting you, so stop and visit as many as you can....
and MY THANKS for coming by to see me today.....
*
*
*
TAKE MY HAND AND LET'S STROLL
THRU A LITTLE BIT OF.......
THE FABULOUS FIFTIES....
*
lOOK AT ALL THE WONDERFUL
BLACK AND WHITE.......UMMMM
and, don't you know I had some of those
POODLE SKIRTS and so many pairs of those
SADDLE OXFORDS, I can't even remember !!
Malt shops, juke boxes and soda jerks....bwaaaaaa...
I WANNA GO BACK !!
well, maybe just for a little while....;O)
*
Oh, and the movies and tv shows were so fun...
and so clean....
and so non-violate !!
*

He was a twin, you know...
I always heard..
ELVIS THE PELVIS
and
ENNIS THE......well, I won't go there...but, you know!!!!
;>)
*
and, we ALL loved ROY ROGERS and TRIGGER..
you know, I heard, years later, that when
TRIGGER died, Roy had him STUFFED...
GOOD GRIEF !!
*

I always LOVED this series and didn't
miss very many of them...
I was a teenager then and my boyfriend
would come over, mom would make
FUDGE and POPCORN for us and we'd
watch this in the living room...
WITH my mom and dad...
WITH my little brother....
and never thought a thing about it !!!!
*

this was another really cute tv series...
lots of fun...
*
and, OF COURSE, our beloved LUCY...
*Oh, yes m'am....
the 50's were so fabulous...
so much safer than now...
so much more innocent....
AND SO MUCH MORE FUN ...well, for ME, anyway !
*
and it's no wonder that I grew up to
LOVE BLACK and WHITE .....
look at that floor and those little soda fountain stools...
I've sat many times, having a COKE FLOAT or a BANANA SPLIT,
hoping that one special guy would walk thru that door...
and.........sometimes, HE DID !! *giggle
*
AND, since my mom sewed ALL my clothes,
I must have had 15 of these POODLE SKIRTS...
in all colors....and, boy, did I twist my little, skinny butt in them !! :O)
******

*
*
*

NOW...i must say....this is ONE of the BEST
BLUE MONDAY HUNKS.....
;o)

XO bj

What a fun post! I can just imagine you doing the be bop in your little poodle skirts! It does look like it was a fun time.

Can you believe I live just a half mile off of Route 66? I think its the same one! I just doubt they ever featured Ohio in the series, lol .

My mom and dad married in 1957. I grew up listening to the music of the 50's and hearing all about what a great time it was. I still LOVE the music! Saddle oxfords got recycled during the early 70's and were my favorite shoes; well that is until wedges came agong! I had at least 3 pair of saddle oxfords. I loved this post; so happy and carefree....I could use a lot of that right now! Thank you for this wonderful diversion!

Bj.. what a wonderful stroll down memory lane. One of the first songs Mr. P and I danced to was one by Elvis..oh this was just too sweet a treat..
I know what you mean about the meds.. bless his heart he struggles with remembering at times, so I'm constantly monitoring what he takes now. I pray your condition is doing ok.. it's such a shame that our bodies betray us the older we get isn't it? I hope you've had a super Blue Monday. hugs ~lynne~

Great post, bj ... so many of my favorite shows and entertainers! I LOVED Make Room For Daddy, and Angela Cartwright was who I wanted to be "when I grew up," even after she made the move to Lost In Space :o)

When I was still in college in Los Angeles (mid-70s), I worked for Roy Roger's son-in-law, his daughter Cheryl's husband. I can confirm that, yes, Trigger was stuffed and put on display in the original Roy Rogers Museum, in Apple Valley, California, near the ranch where Roy and Dale were living at the time. The museum -- which didn't get a lot of traffic out in the California desert -- was moved to Branson, MO, in 2003, and Trigger's just waitin' for you to show up and take an ogle or two :o) Roy and Dale were both buried at Sunset Hills Cemetary in Apple Valley (about 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles), and there is a memorial chapel there in their honor. Roy's son Dusty lives in Branson and performs daily with his band, and I lost track of Cheryl over the years. Cheryl is Roy's oldest child, adopted by Roy and his second wife, Arline. Dusty is Roy & Arline's own child, and Arline died a few days after Dusty's birth. Dale was their stepmom, and she and Roy had additional children together, plus adopted several more. They were a gracious and lovely couple, and I enjoyed the time I spent with them during family activities, weddings, and holidays while working for their son-in-law.

Thanks for the stroll down Memory Lane!
