A GENTLY USED AND GREATLY LOVED TREASURE....

**NOTE...
BLOGGER IS MESSIN' WITH US TODAY...
I CAN'T LEAVE COMMENTS ON ANY SITE THAT HAS
THE DREADED....WORD VERIFICATION....
BLOGGER SAYS "UPLOADING" BUT THE LETTERS NEVER COME UP.....
*
This is my FIRST
2nd TIME AROUND TUESDAY with Diane of

*

I am so excited about this one because I have a lot of 2nd timers around my cottage and ...
I love talking about them ! haha..
There's going to be lots more treasures to look at so be sure to stop by,
leave sweet words for Diane and take a look at all the others...
*
**********************************************
When Mr. Sweet Nothings and I added on to our living room several years ago.....
I WANTED A WHOLE, ENTIRE WALL OF BOOKSHELVES..
We had a shorter wall that would be just PERFECT for those bookshelves...
SOOO, Mr. S.N. got out his trusty ruler, calculator and pencil and paper....and started figuring...
WHAAAT ?....$450.00 for MY WALL OF SHELVES !!?!!
Well....Social Security said, "NO WAY !"
bwaaaaaa
*

OK, I will admit that I didn't have THIS many books but if I had a
WHOLE WALL OF SHELVES,
someday, I COULD have NEARLY this many ........
good thinking, don't ya think ?
*
BOOKS WERE ON MY MIND...
WELL.............
Book SHELVES !!
*SISTER FRIENDS, a trip to one of the local THRIFT SHOPS
came up with the most
MAGNIFICENT BOOK SHELVES, EVER ! well, for ME, anyway...
Here these beauties were....just taken out of a remodeled house,
just leaning up against the wall.
JUST WAITING FOR ME !!
AND....
just $85.00 for the whole, entire, luscious shelves...
*
i am p'ing all over myself by this time and pretty sure, passing gas...
I had the fella measure the shelves,
I called Mr. Sweet Nothings,
He said, PERFECT SIZE.
I said, Can you come instantly with your big ole sweet pickup truck...
He said, I'm on my way...
I said Hurry....
He didn't answer...he was already out the door..
I LOVE THAT MAN !
*I now have spots for cuteness...
*

OH, YEAH....and room for lots of BOOKS, too !! :O)
I have room for LOTS more books now !
*P.S.
how do you think my collection of vintage blue and white windmill canister sets
would look on the TOP shelf, all the way across ?
Too much ?
Do they even USE shelves in the living room for this type thing ?
The more I ponder it, the more I am inclined to try it...it wouldn't
be set in concrete..I could move them..
Ya'll are out in the world much more than I am, so....
tell me true !!

XO bj

BJ,
You truly seem to have the gift for coming upon the things you want for great bargains! Can I tag along sometime?? lol!!

I think the shelves are wonderful and I love how you have arranged everything on them. Don't collect too many books, you have to save room for all those treasures you have!!

Put canisters on those living room shelves? Absolutely!! It would surely be a boring world if we didn't break a few rules!!

Have a great week you funny and marvelous lady! :-)

Oh, BJ ...

I love your book shelves ... and what a bargain! They are just beautiful and you have inspired me to try to find some like them.

I think your windmill canister collection would be the icing on the cake ... it's a shame not to have them out where you can enjoy them.

They would make a perfect post for this coming "Blue Monday," too ... Go for it!

Sincerely,

Janie

BJ, you are amazing. What a fantastic outcome to your desire for shelves.

Good morning BJ, I love, love, love, your bookshelves. What a wonderful find. AND, it looks gorgeous. I am in such need of bookshelves.
when we get our BIG TV I want a cabinet with bookshelves on the side. I will then be ready to give up my cabinet that I have and love.

I didn't get to your post yesterday. Why, what else, company again. My cousin Chris and her dh from way up in Northern MI are here for a couple of days. I adore them and we had a big family gathering for the occasion. All of my sisters cooked but we had it here in my house. I have the most room for a crowd. My leg held up and today I am still alive!!!

I love your flow blue pieces. they are so beautiful. You are so lucky to find them like you did. I adore thrift shopping.

I loved your comment on my Sunday post. The women in our lives are so important to our happiness. Men would never get it. I can tell you through blogging, I have the dearest friends that I admire and love. You are definitely one of them BJ. You are my sister friend and it would be wonderful if we could meet some day. The cabin is waiting for you. Big smile.

Hugs and love...Jeanne

It's wonderful BJ.
I'd love to have a wall of shelves somewhere here at the condo. We have lots and lots of books and I believe, right here, is where the shelves need to be.

Oh my! CUTE story and a WONDERFUL find. I love your bookshelves and all the cuteness on them. I have no room for them but have always loved seeing them in others homes! Can't wait to see more of your treasures!

Good Morning BJ... Great find and wow what beautiful bookcases... I love shelves and bookcases... To me it makes the home complete. Now as for the canisters... Are they full of canister contents??? If not I say put them around on the bookcase... Leave the lid off tilted on the side next to it on a few... Put them on books or flowers in one... scatter them around on the bookcase... I think it would look awesome... Try it... if you do not like it take them off... They are beautiful and should be displayed in a place of honor... Love Ya

Donna

Yep girl, you put those canisters up there...soften them with a bit of foliage, drap it in front of the canisters and draping down the shelf a bit! It will be marvelous just like you and your find!

WOW those are some fabulous shelves and for that price!?!!! What a wonderful find! Love them!♥

BJ, that's a great idea and it looks like they were built in. My Dad did the same thing in the last house he refurbished. Put molding around them and they were permanent! I truly think that being resourceful is a great thing!

Oh yes, Miss Jean, and your bookshelves look just as pretty as all the rest of your cottage. I just don't know how you do it! You go ahead and put those canisters on top of the shelves. I'll bet they'll look pretty on YOUR shelves whether anybody else has ever done it or not. You just have a way of making anything pretty. I'm still envious of those shelves, but I do love my wall entertainment center as a substitute. You know ALL husbands are not as "handy" as Mr. Sweet Nothings. They do have other good qualities though. You could keep us entertained for a long time with your thrift store finds and all the precious "stuff" you have in your little cottage. I do love to come to your home because it feels so very warm and cozy.
Love you!
Martha

They are so neat and they look so good and it makes me want to run out and paint my shelves white so they can look that good too.

Have a Terrific Tuesday

How fortunate for you that you were able to find them at the thrift store. You did a great job filling them. That is always a challenge so they don't look cluttered or junky.

Go for it, BJ. It couldn't look much different than a big old entertainment center that people have in their frontrooms. If it looks good, you could paint it to go with your frontroom decor, or maybe even put molding across the top. The possibilities are endless. By the way, great find.

I say try that canisters, I think they will look great.

Hey BJ! I say try the canisters and see how they look. If you like the look, keep it. If not, take them down...simple as that! I don't usually care too much about what's in style but rather do I like how it looks. Good luck!

Omigosh, those shelves are just gorgeous and I love the idea of a whole wall with shelves like that! You certainly were VERY lucky to have found those shelves for that price at the thrift shop...it's not something you usually see at thrift shops in the first place. WOW! They surely were meant for you to have them:-) I say go for it, put up your canisters on that top shelf!!! I have vintage dishes in my barrister book case in my living room:-) xoxo
