WHAT A PARTY....

A BIRTHDAY, A NEW YEAR'S EVE AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR PARTY....ALL ROLLED INTO ONE....
My sweet friend, CHRIS, says, "NOW, THAT MUST HAVE BEEN A HELL OF A PARTY!"
HA HA HA...CHRIS...it was indeed a wonderful and much fun time to spend with my family and friends....

THE card of the evening......

tee hee........

beautiful flowers from MR. SWEET NOTHINGS

I LOVE them.....THANK YOU!

i got the chance to use my cute, little RED and white bowls...

Now, THESE little PIGGIES....just seemed to EXPLODE right out of their BLANKETS...
I used frozen bread dough, thinking this would add a really great taste to these old 'stand-bys'
and as the dough started rising in the hot oven, those piggies came right out....
but, they DID taste good anyway... ya just had to hold on to the little fellas since they weren't snug !! ;O)
MARY, I used my pretty, vintage, hand stitched runner that you sent me...
it looked so pretty and festive and i got so many compliments on it.
Thank you again for the sweetness you have shown me thru the years!

this is the best tasting RUM CAKE i've ever tried and the recipe belongs to
THE PIONEER WOMAN COOKS...(on my sidebar)

she has the recipe and how-to's on her blog so the next time you want to make an extra special cake, you might slip over there and take a look....
(Oh, and it calls for 3/4 cup of RUM in the glaze...I only had less than a 1/2 cup left after adding a half cup to the CAKE...so....I used a little VODKA in the icing....

suppose that's oop;.s, uh, ONE reasso0,lnw, uh REASON it was so gooooooodo, uh, GOOD ?

think i told you i made the peanut butter cookies.....
they are pretty much NO FAIL with just 3 ingredients...

oh, and that's my mom's really vintage cake plate cover....
MAN...i've eaten so many cakes covered by this cover...
wahhhhhh, i want my mom back !
my $2.00 chalkboard...
i'm lovin' it....

THE SWEETEST DAUGHTER*IN*LAW IN THE WORLD...
and her name is......
KATHY !

O, DAVID.....the grey in your beard makes you look sooooo handsome.
and sweet !
*
great photo of the both of them....

MOI with the BESTEST friends in the whole world......
"Thank you, BARBARA, VIVIAN and MARTHA, for helping me celebrate the birthday
and the HAPPY NEW YEAR.."
it was sooo much fun !

WATCHING THE BALL DROP......

We had about twenty sweet, smiling faces and every one of them.... HUNGRY..
including moi... ;o)
Beautiful daughter, STACY, and her crew had just got home from a 3 day stay in the mountains of NEW MEXICO and two of them came home SICK...
so, they weren't able to attend this GALA EVENT this year. Maybe next !!
I sure hope everyone feels better really soon !!
There was enough food to feed a small army...
platters of thinly sliced ham, assorted cheese, french breads, hot pepper dip,
Texas Trash to nibble on...THE ENTIRE EVENING...
homemade salsa with chips, lil' smokies in simmering sauce, relish trays, black-eyed pea salad, the
aforementioned EXPLODING PIG IN THE BLANKETS,......too many good things to mention all....
and looks like my friend, MARTHA, is adding things right and left to her RED plate....tee hee, Martha!!

the little girls were into their card games, too...

As usual, I was laughing SO hard here I look goofy.
but, it's a great picture of MR. SWEET NOTHINGS.

Bless his heart...we will celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary in April..

************************************************

WE HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST AT THE PARTY AND I AM SO THANKFUL FOR MY SWEET FAMILY AND ALL MY FABULOUS FRIENDS...
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE BEST PARTY, EVER !
*
AND I AM THANKFUL FOR ALL OF YOU IN BLOGLAND, TOO....
AIN'T LIFE GRAND !!
much love, bj

Wow! Oh what a party!!! I wanted to be there. The pigs were trying to escape their fate. Alas, not with that hungry crowd. I love your photos which recorded the wonderful celebration. Bj, I love your family and the sweet love they have for you. That is the way it should be. Happy birthday, again.

Hey girl, did you notice my new banner? That is my mountain view and the photo has been posted before with the rainbow. It was cropped to become my banner. I LOVE it. Beverly and Dawn did it for me. Now Dawn has been added as my tech rep. along with Beverly. I will learn to do this one day.

Love and hugs...Jeanne

Hi there! Your party and celebration sound like so much fun. Loved the cards, food, folks ... and I love anything rum so I plan to head on over to get the recipe. One last thing .. the photo of your mother's cake cover made me go running for mine (it was in a box) and begin using it. It is very similar to yours only with a wooden knob. I also have the base it sits in. And, yes, it was my Mother's too.

Yes, yes, yes ... I am quite serious - and you may use my photo, no problem. I had written (on Artie's blog) that I needed to lose 40 pounds. Well, that was a bit aggressive given my age, etc. Twenty five pounds would get me to a healthy and happy place. Regarding my hair! You and I are so close to the same age and I have to tell you my blonde hair is fast turning white/gray. I have used color, both off the shelf and professional, for many years. But now that I have "old" hair, the color won't stay for long. It just washes out/fades. No pigment to hold onto I'm told. I don't know what to do now and I am considering just letting it turn the color it wants to. I have also considered cutting it to speed the one color look a bit. I am facing my fifty-year high school reunion next September. I attend (midwest IL) every five years and don't want to shock those who have come to expect the blonde hair (which I was actually born with.)
So here's to 2009, here's to losing weight, here's to good hair color!

BJ, looks like you had a blast! So glad you did. I went to a birthday party, too, as one of my good friends has a New Year birthday. :-)

Listen, I heard back from my friend and her mother who have been despserately trying to look through old issues of "Southern Lady" to see if they can find where she got the pillow for me. They said that they had gotten it from some plantation in Mississippi, and she had called a while back and that their gift shop was possibly being closed down. They were hoping that maybe she could remember WHERE it was and if the people there could tell her WHO had made it, but no luck. I'm sorry BJ. I had wanted to give you a good report.

I see that you have its picture on your sidebar, so I'm hoping against hope you can find something out.

XO,

Sheila... who would love for you to find one and is honored like you liked mine! :-)
