THANK YOU, SALLY GIRL....

it always reminds me of my boy and girl when they were little and would build a snowman....
this little pair barely made it into this BLUE post....but his pants ARE a BLUE-grey so I slipped them in...
the head is off the little goose...and there was a pretty, little green tree where the little boy is sitting....
they have both seen their better days but I just keep hanging on .....not real sure why except I bought them in a little drug store next to the cotton office where I worked the year Mr. SweetNothings and I married.....
we didn't have very much money and i actually splurged on buying these.......but..........
I've enjoyed them all these years....
pretty fancy, i think, for a shaving mug.....
by the time I got it, the little handle had been broken off but i still like it. i keep the key to my windup clock in it and sitting on the dining room mantel......
'just because'.....
i love it ! Thanks, Martha...
BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER gave me this little pot several years ago...I love the way it is shaped and the handles on each side.....it's one of my favorite pieces.....
it also, is one of the very few French pieces that I have.... but that's not the reason I love it...
I love it 'cause SHE gave it to me.....:O)
my friend, MARTHA, gave this pretty colbalt blue dish to me last year...i love it ! Thanks, Martha...

and, don't forget
THE GOLDEN RULE....
LOVE, bj
That blue compote is my favorite b/c I collect them. Love that shaving mug too. Don't you just know it's old? I vote for keeping what you bought when you met Mr. Sweetie....it has sentimental value, so that's reason enough. It did tickle me that you "killed" the goose! LOL!
ReplyDeleteGM BJ, Your post seemed so special this morning. More than having the item, I think having a story that goes with it is what makes it so special and sentimental.
ReplyDeleteLove Ya,
Chris
Happy monday morning BJ! You have so many happy memories to share with us each day:>) I hope this week you will make some more!
ReplyDeleteBJ, this is a wonderful Blue Monday post. Sweet memories attached to the pieces.
ReplyDeleteVery purty! I will have a little snack too. :)
ReplyDeleteBJ, you are just like me about having sentimental attachments to your things. It is just this type of things that I love best.
ReplyDeleteGreat blue offerings today...I particularly like the shaving mug! Did the man who originally owned this truly appreciate it's beauty?...I would say probably NOT!!
ReplyDeletePut the kettle on, I'm comin' over!

What a great variety of blue here today bj! How fun to know a little history behind each item. Blessings on your week!
ReplyDeleteBJ - As always your Blue Monday post is beautiful. My favorites - the pot that Beautiful Daughter gave you and the vintage shaving mug - it really is fancy. I'm off to the dentist. Have a great day. Happy Blue Monday!

Hi BJ...what is it about us "ol' gals" that we'll hang onto something when it's chipped, broken or whatever? Oh, yeah, it's because we love the way it makes us feel when we see it! Thanks for the crackers & cheese, btw....
ReplyDeleteLove ya, ♥ Bo
I had to giggle at the poor little headless goose! Your figurines are so pretty, and I love your cobalt blue compote glass! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have such pretty treasures.
ReplyDeleteI have to comment on your snack. It looks yummy. I once worked for a man who would bring me the empty glass jars from the cheese. They were the perfect size for the children. We still use them when we want a small drink.
What a great variety of blue items and all of them were wonderful.

I love the stories behind all of your pretty pieces BJ...

Jean, you are just as sentimental as I am! I love the little figurines, headless goose, leafless tree and all. However, the shaving mug brings back sweet memories for me as I have a very old "Old Spice" shaving mug that belonged to my Dad. It may not be pretty to others who stop in, but it is beautiful to me. Anything our girls give us is special no matter what it is; we'll love it.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Martha
I'm sitting here groovin to your tunes!!! Love the stories to go with the blue stuff...very nice.
ReplyDeleteI just love all your treasures BJ. I especially love the boy and girl with snowman. I also have a daughter and a son, so it reminded me of them too! Thanks for sharing your goodies. Amy
ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up, we had a blue compote like that! Happy Blue Monday!

I LOVE your blues in your post. That shaving mug is awesome...and very fancy! I also have not had that pineapple spread in a long, long time...I had forgotten about it. It will now be on my shopping list cause it is GOOD!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful to actually remember this and that from all our little delights?
ReplyDeleteSo many childhood gifts... :) ah I sigh a mother's sigh.
And yet what caught here BJ was the delight of saving the reminders of days long ago...when marriage was young... I cling to those as well...with a ferocity, in a gentle Muse like fashion, of course!
Happy Blue Monday! Love your blue compote...very pretty!
ReplyDeleteBJ
ReplyDeleteHOw can I ever feel blue on a Onday after being here?

Hi BJ
ReplyDeleteI am so far behind in visiting my favorite people in blogland. How do you keep up? All your blues are just lovely.
Hugs, Rhondi
Hi BJ! You know, I keep intending to do the Blue and Pink days but I swear...I just cannot get my act together! I need to just devote a day out of the week to devote to doing this. I am trying to make my life more structured so that I won't be so stressed out at the end of the week and so far I haven't even been able to do that! I'll round me up some blue things around the house and snap away!
ReplyDeleteLove ya,
Deanna :)
