A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THRIFTING BEST FRIENDS.....

First....lunch in our favorite CRAFT MALL.....

THEN......

we hit our favorite THRIFT SHOPS.....

let the fun begin....

We were so excited to have the entire day together to do what we love best....
THRIFT
...ok....and EAT

"LITTLE PIG, LITTLE PIG, LET ME COME IN".....
soooo cute but i'm not ready to start ANOTHER collection !!
if we don't QUIT eating so much, we're gonna LOOK like these!!
Martha says,
SPEAK FOR YOUR OWN SELF, SISTER FRIEND !! ;o)

Uh Oh....Martha sees something she likes...

oooo, take a look at all these dishes...and there was another entire row of them....

Yep...she has DEFINITELY found something she likes....
look at that smile...

me, too, Martha !!
I loved this heavy, iron piece but it was heavy and I didn't have a cart.... I meant to come back and pick it up and just remembered it when I saw this photo of it...

This shop had a LOT of stuff...good stuff, too.....

Yep...we bought a FEW things...

Well....ok...... a LOT of things....

i fell in love with this HUGH, red basket...it is not quite as bright as in the picture...more of a burnished red....big...and will hold lots of MAGAZINES ! $2.00

I have NO earthly idea what this iron thingy might be. Just thought it was cute for A DOLLAR and I am sure I can think of something to do with it....candles, coffee cups, vintage little glass milk bottles that hold pretty flowers.....maybe even the glass vintage ball jars I have??

I just love these 4 monogramed glasses....I just wish there had been more!! $2.00
OH...and those green placemats....brand new, 12 for $3.00
I was keeping my fingers crossed that these glasses would fit in that iron thingy above but...
noooooo !!

the S for STACY...beautiful daughter !
The rest of the initials.....fit no one in my family but....who cares? I still love 'em.....
I love ANYTHING with a monogram on it....
you know me...i could care less if anything matches or not or "fits" or not, if i love 'em...

this is a really pretty piece...not sure if i will leave it this green color or might paint it ....
you know how we HAVE to do SOMETHING to our thrifted pieces to make them
OURS.....:o)
this piece will look neat over a picture, won't it? $1.00

I'm such a sucker for COOKBOOKS...just love them!
Bought about 8 more READER'S DIGEST CONDENSED books...i love them, too.
Yes, SHEILA....you can love books, too!! tee hee ...50 cents ea.

this was my favorite FIND....i love how tall the dome is on this one...
i will paint the bottom in a Colonial Red.....maybe do it today!
or....maybe YELLOW ??
when i finish with it...i'll show ya....

the dome is tall enuf that i can put a lot of different, pretty things inside... $2.00
**************************
Well....there ya have it....
we had such a good time....there is just nothing like spending time with
A GOOD FRIEND !! ESPECIALLY EATING AND THRIFTING.....
"thanks so much, Martha, for going with me and letting me have a FABULOUS day with you!!!

if you get the chance, slip away one day soon with your friend or friends, go eat at a really neat, INEXPENSIVE place and then....

HIT THOSE THRIFT SHOPS, grinning all the way ! WOOO HOOO....

I would like to tell you about the best HOMEMADE AND EASY CHILI I have ever eaten..

JENNIFER at SMELLING COFFEE posted CROCK POT CHILI on her blog the other day and since I had a LOT of company coming over for a TEXAS TECH FOOTBALL GAME PARTY, I decided to try it... BOY, I am so glad I did because, People...it is DELICIOUS !! If you are hungry for chili, go pay her a visit and scroll down until you come across her recipe.....

LOVE, bj

morning BJ, One of my favorite things to do is country shopping in PA with my BFF Carol, we have the best times, we laugh so hard I feel like I'm gonna pass out,LOL! We were sitting at a redlight one shopping day, 2 SKINNY woman were walking down the street and I said "OH look there we are", well, we both laughed so hard I got dizzy and I don't know how we saw the light turn green and drive!! LOL! You really got some nice things on your trip, I would use the black thingy with ball jars and flowers or for condiments on the kitchen table. Have a good day BJ! xo

You girls got great finds. BJ, I think you should go back and get that piece you forgot. ;-)

Huh??? You didn't invite me? Certainly I would have traveled to west Texas for all those goodies! Heck, I'd travel to west Texas for any reason. You got lots of goodies. I'm still puzzled about the back wire holder thingie. Maybe one of your readers can spread some light on that.

Now that's my kind of day. We don't have good thrift shops here but bargain hunting with a girlfriend is just heaven sometimes! Especially when there's good food involved.

Go back and get that metal thingy!!

Well, I'm impressed! That was a fabulous haul, and it looked like a wonderful store. I too think the metal thingy was to hold potted plants but it would look just fine with plates of cupcakes too!

Whoa Sister girl, looks like you hit the jackpot!!! Can't wait to see what you do with the iron thingy. LOL!!!

You're having too much fun. First a day with 'adorable granddaughter' and now a day with 'beautiful friend'. I've searched for months for an old cheese dome (or a cloche) at a cheap price and look what you found on your day out. I'm still looking!!! Sally

Good morning BJ -
You found some wonderful things. Wish I could have shopped with you but we would have wanted some of the same things! That 'metal thingy' is similar to one I saw the other day. It had some really ugly, matched coffee mugs in it. I would love to have bought it empty and added some of my Christmas mugs to it. So, I'm on the look-out for one without the ugly mugs now. Let us see what you do with your pretties.
