SHADES OF BLUE MONDAY......

SMILING SALLY is our host for a brand new WEEKLY
BLUE MONDAY..
Everyone has something BLUE around their cottage
AND
she would like us to
SHOW OUR BLUES.....

I have a LOT of blue around MY cottage and I will start it off with photos of
my collection of
GERMAN BLUE WINDMILL CANISTER SETS.
What I am showing this time is only a small amount of my collection.
I still have some in boxes in a closet that I just don't have a place to display them.
I have blogged about this collection before, so many of you have already seen it.

That pretty little floral in the precious teacup was given to me and made by
Mary, I would like you to know how much I have enjoyed this piece.
I just love it and I thank you again....
You may notice the blues are different shades...
Some are lighter than others, have deeper color...
There are so many different places where they were made and this is the reason for the different
SHADES OF BLUE.

I've not found nearly as many of the ROUND canisters. They are much
harder to find.
I only have a few round ones and not a complete set.

See the different shades of blue and the different patterns of the
windmills... ?
Some of the windmills are much prettier than the others but I love them all....

A little creme pitcher I found on Ebay about 4 years ago.

This paticular pattern is my very favorite of all.
I love the pretty, medium blue, the windmill with the little stream and I
ADORE
the style of writing.
Of course, I don't have as many of these as some of the others; isn't that the case every time!!

BUT....
I do have a few. These are so pretty to my eyes.....
********************
Not all my pieces are complete sets. The entire sets are very rare and VERY expensive.
I buy every piece I come across and it doesn't have to match any thing else that I have.
**************************

I DON'T collect the newer pieces from HOLLAND !!
They are mostly made for tourist and not of the quality
of the vintage pieces.
I just like the OLD stuff ....
***************

I started collecting these pieces about 47 years ago and have never,
EVER stopped loving them !!

**************************
PLEASE STOP OVER AT
AND CHECK OUT THE OTHER
BLUE MONDAY POSTINGS.....

and I surely hope YOUR MONDAY is far from

BLUE

These are all beautiful, BJ. I never realized there were so many different types. And, I love the different labels - I especially like Oatmeal and Raisins.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi BJ, I love this collection. Believe it or not, I have never had much blue in my home. I guess when I was a young bride that greyish country blue was the vogue and it turned me off to such an extent that I thought I didnt like the color! I have just recently begun collecting blue and white plates at garage sales and such to hang on the yellow walls of my living room. I currently have them displayed in a bookcase in that room until I get enough to hang, and I can't believe how much I love them! I love cobalt blue and white! How could I not know that before?

My mom had a set handed down from someone, but I don't know what happened to them--probably my sister has them! I love them, always have. In fact, maybe this is one of the reasons I love blue so much. On a white background, it just stands out.

Thank your for sharing.

You ladies and your "dish" collections make me feel very ungirly. The only plates I've ever bought to "not eat in" are the ones hanging over our guestbed. Which by the way were inspired by YOU my dear friend! have a very unblue Blue Monday!

I remember the alcove window from RMS. It was one of my favorite spaces. It unique and seems like a peaceful private just for me space. I truly wish I had one.

You know I love all your blue and white china. You have a great collection. I've been collecting blue and white for about 25 years and never tire of it.

BJ, I just had to come back for your blue post. I almost forgot. These blue and white windmill dishes are a treasure to say the least. I have always loved that pattern too. I never used blue in my house to speak of, so I never collected these beauties. Good thing you started early, as they are not so easy to find at a price within reason. Lucky you, to have such an extensive collection.

Love, Jeanne

What a fabulous, extensive collection! I've never seen canisters for Raisins or Rice before! They look great in that cabinet, too.
