GLENNA GOODACRE, AMERICAN SCULPTOR

"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. ART is knowing which ones to keep."
Scott Adams

GLENNA GOODACRE
is a top American sculptor
that was born and raised in our
WEST TEXAS town of
LUBBOCK.
She attended
TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY
and we are very blessed to have some of her work on exhibit at the
TEXAS TECH MUSEUM.
I so admire her and her work,
I wanted to share just a sampling of her talent
with my blogging friends.
Her works are located all over the country.

Life-size
MOTHER AND DAUGHTER

GLENNA designed the
SACAGAWEA GOLDEN DOLLAR COIN
released by the U. S. Mint in
JANURY, 2001

SACAGAWEA" New Millennium Golden Dollar produced by the United States Mint, Washington, DC, USA.

"One of Glenna Goodacre's contributions to America is her rendering of Sacagawea on the obverse side of the new millennium golden dollar coin that was released into circulation by the United States Mint in 2001. Goodacre's touching portrayal of Sacagawea was selected above 121 submissions by 23 other sculptors. "

(I am soooo in awe)

VIETNAM WOMEN'S MEMORIAL" in Washington, DC, USA

"On Veteran's Day, November 11, 1993, Glenna Goodacre's sculpture touched the lives of millions with the unveiling of the Vietnam Women's Memorial at The Vietnam Wall on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. . Goodacre's sculpture, in both its design and breadth, honors and pays tribute to the eleven thousand American women who served in the military during the Vietnam War. "
***************************************************************************

GLENNA has done some remarkable works that will live forever in history.
Altho I've not been able to view her world-renoun pieces,
below is one of my personal favorites of all her works I HAVE been privileged to view.

THE IRISH MEMORIAL
by
GLENNA GOODACRE
Her largest piece to date.

Glenna, at work in her studio on
THE IRISH MEMORIAL

This major monument stands in downtown Philadelphia at Front and Chestnut streets.

The l 3/4-acre national site is a public park that overlooks the Delaware River at historic Penn's Landing, a fitting location because many of the Irish disembarked along those shores.

This massive bronze is Goodacre's most ambitious public sculpture - with over 25 life-size figures.

Beautiful stuff!!! There was a bronze sculptor who lived in the next town over from me when I lived in Utah. He made the most beautiful sculptures and then donated them to the different business around town. So when your drove or walked through the shopping district there were all these sculptures along the way. It was a truly amazing town to shop in. To this day whenever I go home I still drive through just to re-enjoy his work.

I'm glad to meet you BJ. I'm glad you visited my blog and for all the nice comments you made. I have enjoyed my visit here. It is a lovely uplifting place to visit. Love your attitude about taking your "things" from your blog. I took advantage of it and grabbed John & Sara. I'm excited about this pick too.
Nice to meet someone my age. Most bloggers are younger or much younger.

Thanks for helping me get the Buddy thing clear. I just love his music. Makes me wonder where he'd be if he had lived and how famous he would have become. One talented Texan!! Oh, I'll have to make some more deviled eggs just for you!
