THE LOVELY SISTERS, KARI AND KIJSA, ARE HOSTING A
"WHAT'S A MANTEL TO DO" TODAY
AND I WANTED TO JOIN IN..
.Do you like to change yours seasonally?
Have you figured out a great display technique?
Do you love yours, but want to gather a few more ideas?
Do you have a beautiful way to show off your garden flowers?
Are you looking for new ideas?
Or are you just wondering..what should a mantle do?
Well...let's all share our mantles with each other, whether over a fireplace, any season (share fall or Christmas if you want!) used creatively elsewhere (we have even spotted neat displays outside in the garden on some sites!) On this Thursday, we will post our own mantles, share a few ideas we have used, and then visit your great sites that always have lovely things, great photos, clever ideas, and beautiful mementos! We can all link up, and share our ideas & photos...SO this Thursday...JUNE 19......WHAT'S YOUR MANTLE (or Mantel) TO DO??
THIS is my mantel in the living room and it is very, VERY hard to decorate
since this is a FRANKLIN wood burning stove.
That big, large black pipe runs in front of the mantel BEHIND the stove,
making it hard to dress.
I hope to get some fabulous ideas from some of you out there today!!
NOTE:
After looking at this photo for awhile, I realize that those DUCK bookends
HAVE TO GO
They are bordering on being
UGLY
So the hunt is on for NEW, PRETTY BOOKENDS
OOO BOY, another shopping day !
DINING ROOM
BOOKS AND GLASS ROOSTERS ARE IN THE MIDDLE
VINTAGE STAND WITH
THRIFT STORE TREASURES
AND VERY SELDOM CHANGE THE ITEMS ON IT...
THE ST. FRANCIS (or is it ST. CHRISTOPHER ?) was given to me by my mom.
The glass roosters, by a favorite cousin
and the little handpainted jar with dried roses came from
BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER
I gave the painting of JESUS CHRIST to Bill several years ago.

I so love decorating with things that have meaning to me. I do have a few things that
have no story connected with them whatsoever that I truly love....but....
for the most part, I use things that are
DEAR TO MY HEART

QUESTION !
When I am preparing my post, I get it all typed out, spaced right and everything looks great...I save it.
Then, when it publishes, I have all these spaces in between my lines. How do I keep things "as is"?

BJ, your mantle looks wonderful. I love all of your treasures.
I have treasures on my mantle, too.
Have a wonderful day. You are always an inspiration to us.
Thanks for visiting our Blog - and thanks for the anniversary wishes you left.
Love your Blog - I'll be back again!
~Blessings,
Jan
Saw your question about why things type up looking right - but don't look that way when it posts.
Try typing it under EDIT HTML, rather than COMPOSE. I've found that really helps.

Jan

Fabulous!!

I'm really enjoying this mantel tour today! So many great ideas. I love your glass roosters!!
You are so lucky to have two to decorate!!! Yes, things with meaning are so nice to decorate with!!!
Your mantles are beautiful! I like the ducks. And that is St Francis. You can tell because he has the bird on his shoulder. Christy:-)<><
BJ, Your mantle vignettes are beautiful! I love the glass roosters and the stand with blue and white pottery!
When you find the answer to the mystery spacing question, please let me know! Mine get uneven and out of sorts too!
Hugs, Rhonda ;)

Pretty mantel, BJ! Thank you for stopping by & for your very sweet words. I really appreciate it. I think I have a mantel to link also.

Very, very, pretty. I love the books in the center with the rooster bookends. I am a rooster kind of girl. I love seeing people work around their decor obstacles. I have many of those at my house.LOL

Trixi

Your mantel looks great!! Love the little roosters! :) xo!
Bj you cracked me up with the duck comment! LOL I actually like them, but maybe you could paint them :)
I love the way you decorated and I always love looking at all your treasures.
I have some catching up to do on your blog, so I'll be back later...
hugs,
rue
I love what you have done with your "hard to decorate" mantel! I would have never guessed it was a problem space.
You'd better hide those bookends, I'm on my way to rooster-nap them!*Ü*
I love your mantel! Thanks for stopping by!
BJ, about your question. Ask Beverly, she is always fixing my mistakes.
Now about your mantels, I love them all. I do love, the glass roosters a whole lot. Aren't you lucky to have so many mantels to decorate.
Mantel; is what you place over the fireplace.
Mantle; is an item of clothing.
Now don't think I'm so smart. I looked it up after I noticed two ways of spelling that word. I went back and corrected my post in too many places. :)
Love ya, Jeanne
BJ, your mantles look nice. I'm like you in that I have decorated my mantle with things that mean something to me. I've already posted for today, but I may show a picture of my mantle tomorrow.
Your posts always looks good to me, BJ. It seems I spend most of my time when creating a new post just trying to get everything lined up the way I want it after blogger seems to mess it up. I'll be interested to read what your other visitors have to say about this.
I love your mantel. It reminds me of mine, that it is a scrapbook of memories and momentos. Smiles, Paula
Hi BJ!
I like both your mantles! What treasures you have!
Thanks for dropping by my blog.
It's nice to discover yours too!
Becky

I have a St. Francis statue, too... :)
Hi! Nice to meet you! well, I love its, are so cute! warm regards
What a lovely mantel! I wish I had a fireplace. It's a dream I have for the north wall in my family room.
I especially love that plate holder and the pretty plates, and that sweet little handpainted pot!
Kady
Love your beautiful mantel, BJ! To answer your question...I DON'T KNOW but I'm glad to know it happens to someone else. After I publish a post, I often have to make two or three changes because of the spacing.
Love your mantles. I have special angels on my mantle.
About the posting spaces ... the same thing has happened to me. I usually have to go back and delete some spacing to get it right. I often check the "view blog" first to see if it looks OK before I post it. It looks like we all have the same problem. :)
Hugs.
I love your mantles! I didn't see the black pipe though, wink. I love the statue on there, beautiful.
Your mantle is so lovely...it is just as you are...warm and friendly and pretty!
Your home is always a treat to visit...: )
Love,
Sue
