An older, tired looking dog wandered into my yard...
I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.
He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.
An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour.
This continued off and on for several weeks. Curious I pinned a note to his collar:
'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'
The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar:
'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep.
Can I come with him tomorrow?'

That is the SWEETEST story I've read in a very long time!- That will have me smiling all day long!
BJ, that is the cutest story ever. Did the return note give a name or address where he lives?
I'm swamped at work, but I promise I will send you pictures Saturday morning. Is that too late? It is so sweet of you to put this together for our viewing pleasure.
Morning BJ. I have missed having coffee with you the past few mornings. I am having a great time with son and am all tuckered out from all the landscaping he is helping me do :-) It will be back to normal way too soon....so I am going to enjoy every minute of his time!
Will catch up next week. ((hugs)) Rosie
That is such a cute story. Yep I can relate to that owner. I have 6 children and two are under 8 and believe me I am tired all the time and you add to that grandchildren also.
Hope you have a wonderful day and by the way I love reading your blog daily.
That is just about the sweetest thing I have heard in a long time. Thank you so much for sharing. I have three kids of my own. Do you live close? =) Susie H.
I absolutely love this story! I laughed and laughed. I must put a link on my blog to it so everyone can jump over and read it. Now if I can only figure out how to do that!

Oh my gosh, BJ... is this a real story? I cannot believe it.... this dog most like you a lot.... and it's no wonder, you are the sweetest person and your home is so cozy and peaceful, that I'll bet that doggy was in heaven.... the note that his owners returned was just so funny... :)
Thanks for reminding us about the kitchen pictures... I've totally forgotten about it, but I will send some to you tonight when I get home... See you then.
Have a marvelous day

Hello BJ, I sure am glad I stopped by to tell you I have photos of my kitchen. I will send them over tonight. The dog story is terrific. We adore our poodle, Babette. When we have a house full she disappears to her crate in the corner of our bedroom. It is behind a screen so she has privacy. If she can't find peace, she is a grouch and takes to snapping at people. Then of course, we call her Badbette. She is 15, can't hear and hardly sees. We love her so much and we know her time is coming soon,to doggy heaven. Love ya, Jeanne
Oh... I love this!!! There are days even now when I feel just like this mom!! Our sweet little girl of 13yr.(jackrussell/beagle) crawled up into her bed a little over a week ago, and went to sleep never to awaken again!! SHE IS MISSED!
what a great story! I only have two...but they are both under 3...I NEED A NAP!! hey, I posted a pic of the fireplace screen, just for you...come see!
Awwww, that is just the sweetest little story and it sure put a smile on my face today :) I need to send you a pic or two of my kitchen...I'm off to do that now :)

What a cute story.
BJ I stopped over to ask you to pray for my sister. Pam is in the hospital. She went to the doctor yesterday and they sent her to the hospital. They have been running all kinds of test to try to determine the source of her pain and problems.
Today they discovered that the tube that runs from the shunt in her
head is across her stomach and is pressing against her diaphragm, it
should be running along side of her stomach. So tomorrow they will
be going in and move it back where it should be. She is also having
severe pain in the left side of her abdomen and they do not believe
the tube explains that part of her problems but does the pain in her
shoulder and her not being able to eat.
Pam is the one with Chiari Malformation, that is why she has the shunt.
I don't know what time as they are having to fit her in but I would
really appreciate your prayers for her, she is in pretty bad shape
right now.
Thanks,
Betty
Thank you BJ. It means a lot.
Betty
What a sweet story..
Michelle
BJ, that was such a sweet story!

hi bj...What a precious story. This is Jenny in Kansas. I read your post on the Lubbock tornado. We all are under "the gun" tonight and through the weekend for tornados..thanks for your lovely, heartfelt concern and prayers for those of us ( including Texans) living in tornado alley. I've lived through several bad twisters too..one was in 1969. When it hit my lil' sis and I were huddled under a mattress. ( we had no basement then) Alot of midwesterners have lived through these terrible storms with many tales of survival. ( some not so lucky) I count myself very blessed to have survived this long. lol. I still love my Kansas in spite of the weather. Texas is another state I love dearly. The people are so friendly and kindhearted! Thanks for stopping by my blog and your sweet comment. I love your blog! Take care...Jenny
Oh BJ! That is the cutest story! What a sweet dog! The poor little bugger is just plain worn out with two toddlers at home.
I don't have a scanner to scan photos of my favorite kitchens but I will try to photograph my favorite magazine pictures.
I love that story. I love that story. I LOVE that story.
What a wonderful story. Thanks so much BJ.
God bless.
You've got mail, sweetie... go check it out! :)
Sleep like an angel...

I laughed so hard at the end of this that I almost woke my son who was asleep on my couch! Is this something that really happened to you? If so, how funny! Even if its just a joke, still very very funny. Love the pic of that dalmation pup!
What a cute story! We all need a quiet spot now and then, don't we?
BJ,
What a wonderful story.
I'm really looking forward to all the photos of the beautiful kitchens.
Blessings,
Mary
That IS sweet! :) Thanks for sharing!
(I'm trying to catch up on my blog reading before my internet dies again!!)
Hi BJ
What a great story! I read it to my hubby and we both had a laugh over it. I can remember days like that when I was a young mom when a nap was the most precious thing in the world. We had a cat who used to visit a neighbor every day and we never knew it until he died and she mentioned a grey tabby cat that always used to come around and she hadn't seen him lately. We had 3 boys under 5 so maybe he went there to sleep too!
Hope you have a great weekend.
Hugs, Rhondi
Hi BJ
I am enjoying all the photos of kitchens. They are all amazing! You are so good at gathering all of us bloggers together and making us feel like a community.
