MY DINING ROOM ~

Wonderful morning to everyone...I hope you had a fantastic weekend....

After posting my bargain, garage sale blue rug, several ladies asked to see more of my dining room. Thank you very much for wanting to see it. Please keep in mind that I know NOTHING of scale, style, decorating and etc. I just love thrifting and love putting together the things I find that I want to become part of who I am. There's nothing in this dining room that is new...all are thrifts or made by my talented Sweet Hubby. Our son calls this our OCCASION ROOM.....*smiles*

This is looking through the pass-through from my kitchen.....I think I've mentioned to you before that the pass-through is the handiest thing. I just love it!! Tile on it makes it fabulous to sit hot pans or dishes down, let it cool a bit and carry it right to the table. Sweet Hubby and Handsome Son did all of our tile and they did a mighty fine job, I might add. Both fellas are such keepers!:)

I LOVE table cloths....and I change out pretty often. This is when I was in my RED mood....probably getting close to Christmas time. The fireplace in the background is an antique, pine mantel I found at a thrift store about 5 years ago. I have REALLY enjoyed it and have had fun changing out the different things on it for a different look. I never change the picture hanging above it...it is a KENNETH WYATT painting of JESUS CHRIST that I am very proud of and never tire of. It looks fabulous, no matter the season!!

My bold, black sign that Beautiful Daughter brought to me once from a trip she took. It is one of my favorites and I love the way it is made.

Just a display on the top of my red hutch that Sweet Hubby made for me. Well, he made the top part.....the bottom is an old harvest table we've had for over 40 years, painted red.
You can see part of the red hutch on the left...I'll post it another time.

Sweet Hubby made the magazine rack, too....Isn't he talented? He can build absolutely anything. He's super talented with his hands. I will later post a picture of a television cabinet he made for us that is fabulous.

This wire rack sits in one corner of the room. It was just a display rack in a lumber yard that was going out of business. It was $5.00 bucks, I spray painted it green and put large tiles on it to hold a few of my treasures!! I am on the look-out for a fabulous LARGE, pine hutch to replace it but this is working for the time being.....

This picture shows a little more of the room but still couldn't get the whole thing in....the red hutch sits to the left side. See how large the rug is? I love that you can pull the chairs out and they stay on the rug.

Shhhhhh.....I really want to paint the chairs and table but Sweet Hubby nearly loses all his hair each time I mention it. So, for now, I must be happy with the natural color. *someday***

I have several things I want to do to this room sometime....but it is such a comfortable, large room for our large family of 17 and we do enjoy it. The big table seats 10, 12 in a pinch. The benches that scoot under the table when not in use, seats 4 little butts or 3 bigger ones and I have several chairs. Most of the time, the little ones eat at the bar in the kitchen.....I've mentioned before that we belong to a home church group and our dining room is well used when they meet over at our house.

oops, sorry...this is the same picture as above...and I just noticed that the silverware isn't on the table in these pictures yet...

You can see that I am no decorator! As I've said, I don't really know the first thing about it all. I just know what I love and like having around me.

We all love peeking inside each others homes so will you post pictures of your dining room, space, area? I, for one, would LOVE to see it.....

HAPPY DINING ~

Such a warm and inviting room! I love it! Every spot and corner has your signature on it! I have two prints and a canvas by Kenneth Wyatt and love them. In fact, my sweet hubby and I are planning another trip to Red River just to visit his gallery.
I would post a picture of my dining room, but after seeing yours, I'm too embarrassed!

What a beautiful and inviting room! You have done it right. I would have a hard time eating until I had looked at every part of everything in there. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I wish my dining room were a bit bigger and didn't have doors or opening on each wall leading somewhere else. At least I have a dining room! ~Adrienne~

I've always loved your dining room. Glad you posted it. There is lots of eye candy in there. I've always wanted a dining room but it was never to be. Now that I'm older, I don't want any extra space to take care of.
Keep up the good work!
Love, Alice

My goodness BJ it is just perfect! I love the red hutch and magazine rack. I am going to show that rack to my hubby. Perhaps if I bat my eyelashes and say pretty please very nicely he will make me one.

Thank you so much for sharing your dining room with us.

Oh bj, that is one beautiful mantel! And I love the shelf above the window -- what a great place to display your treasures! The new rug looks great. I do love a pretty tablecloth, too. What stands out most about your dining room, however, is that it is so obviously a room filled with happy times! :) Thanks for sharing it with us.

You house is so cozy and "homey". That is so neat that your furniture has stories behind it.
There is nothing like a good find at a thrift store. I wish I could go every day !!

BJ, I think you have lots of decorating skills. I love that you have so many thrifted things and pieces that your talented husband made. To me that's what makes a homey house. I shared some pictures of my dining room before we got our new/old sideboard. I need to get it all back in order before I post about it but I will someday soon!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful room and the history behind each part. I like that!

Hugs,
Hope

Bj I love your dining room. It is charming, bright, and welcoming, just like you are. All the things you have in it are wonderful and all fit together to make such an inviting place to share a meal. I imagine everyone in your home group loves to come to your house. It's obvious you have the gift of hospitality. Being a quilter I'm wondering who made the quilt. I love the quilt, love the Fruit of the Spirit sign, lpve the plates on the wall. Love it all!! Rhondi

You have a lovely dining room, BJ. One thing I noticed was the shelf over one of the windows. I found that interesting as I don't believe I've ever seen that. Nice place to display some of your nice things.
