A FAVORITE PIECE OF FURNITURE ~

Several weeks ago, MARY at LITTLE RED HOUSE asked what our favorite piece of furniture might be. Mine is this lovely, antique, English chest I bought years ago at a moving sale. It has the most beautiful wood...I know nothing of woods so I'm uncertain as to what kind of wood it might be. It has the softest, deepest color and I just adore it.....

MARY shared her favorite, beautiful, vintage sofa...if you've not been by her LITTLE RED HOUSE lately, you really should go see her. She has such lovely things to share with us. Many thanks, MARY.

My chest offers some much needed and great storage...I have tablecloths, place mats, napkins in one drawer. Odds and ends like candles and etc, in the rest of the drawers but I know what all is in there, which makes it easy to find something when I am searching for it.

I didn't get as good a close up picture of the hardware but it is so pretty and lacy and airy looking. Each drawer has a lock but the old key was lost many years ago, before I bought the chest. As I have not a thing that needs to be in a locked drawer, I've never tried to find one. A pretty brass key inserted in one lock, with a pretty tassle would look pretty cool, tho. Hmmmm, I'll have to look into that !!

I found this perfect spot for it in my living room. I am pretty sure it will always be one of my favorite pieces.

Let us know which piece in your house is favorite to you!

HAPPY DAY!

What a beautiful chest of drawers BJ. I can see that it would give you lots of storage. The colour of the stain is gorgeous.

I hope to take a photo of my favorite piece of furniture later today.

Beautiful!

My favorite piece is my rocking chair. My Grandparents bought it at auction and gave it to my mother, my mother gave it to me when I was pregnant with my first child.
I have had people tell me they think it's probably around 100 years old, but I don't know officially. The tornado managed to break the wood and tear off an arm, and I can't afford a professional restorer, so I plan on trying to fix it myself. I'm also planning on reupholstering it - I have my eye on some Cath Kidston-like rose fabric, reminiscent of the 40s.
I also love my new hoosier cabinet I bought at that auction last month!! :)

Have a great weekend!

B.J. that is a lovely piece of artwork done up as furniture! I hate how it's all made of plywood and glue anymore. I bought a bedroom suit in England that I'd not give up for anything. It's about 200 years old and the doors on the chifferobe are two solid pieces of oak...I love it!
Great post

I'm sitting here at my desk...I have to say this is my favorite piece of furniture as it is the nicest desk I've ever had...my family calls it the "mother ship"...LOL...hmmm....
looking around here now...it is so messy it does not look as if I appreciate it much...I think I need to do some cleaning...sigh....

Have a great day!

Hi BJ, the wood looks like it might be a light colored cherry, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it's pretty, and I like the way you have the mirror centered over it and then a pictured centered over the mirror. Neat!!

BJ, I love your wooden chest! It is just perfect for storing your linens. I think you should get a vintage key and tassle for it!

Mary is great isnt she? I love visiting both of you gals. You both brighten my day. When ever I come here, the song keeps popping into my head,
"my baby whisers in my ear,,,oooh sweet nothings.."

Good Morning BJ,
I'm here again for our morning Coffee. I love your Chest of Drawers. It is so beautiful. "THANK YOU" for sharing it with us. It goes so well in your living room and everyone can always use the extra storage. I know I can. LOL. I love how you have the mirror hanging above it. You have great taste and your home shows it. I would have to say my king-sized bed is my favorite piece of furniture. My DH bought it for me when I was pregnant with our youngest daughter. It is just so comfy and I love laying in it watching t.v. or reading. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,

BJ: Love your beautiful English chest. I don't think you can have enough storage and when it comes in the form of a beautiful piece of furniture, you get double duty - form and function - (isn't that what the designers say)?

Your hubby sounds like a wonderful man, someone you can count on through thick and thin. Although hubby and I have only been married for 4 1/2 years, I think I got it right the 2nd time around. I love having someone to take care of me!

XO - Judy
