I love staying inside and doing crafts or sewing....working on quilts is a wintertime activity for me. I like spending the days washing the fabrics, cutting them, beginning to put together a great quilt top......
I really love baking in the wintertime. The added warmth of the oven on a cold day makes it cozy and nice in my red kitchen....... These are Easy Peanut Butter cookies that use just three ingredients,; 1 cup Peanut Butter, 1 Egg and 1 cup sugar. They are delicious, quick and one recipe makes about 2 dozen small to medium cookies. I always double the recipe because how good they taste with a cup of hot coffee or tea or a icy cold glass of milk.
I absolutely LOVE to read, look at magazines or catalogs in the winter...especially close to a big fire in the wood burning stove. When I am in a reading mood, I nearly always have at least 2 books going. And, of course, we ALL love magazines. Some of them are like getting a little small present in the mail when they arrive.
I like thinking up "warm us up" foods in the winter, like this Frito Pie...or big pots of homemade soups or stews or Chicken and Dumplins'........*sigh*
Ohhh, and the hot drinks.....like this luscious drink that just goes in the microwave or hot chocolate with plenty of marshmallow creme or LOTS and LOTS of hot coffee......and, of course, plenty of hot tea with sugar and lemon or creme......
Sweet hubby and I love a roaring fire on a cold evening. We watch tv or read or sometimes, we just enjoying sitting in front of it, talking and, even better, have long moments of pure silence while we stare at the blaze and mull over the day's happenings. The fabulous thing about being married and enjoying it, is that the long moments of silence are completely comfortable. Don't you just adore that safe and soft feeling? I sure do ~
The dark, snow- promising clouds or the rumble of thunder, far off in the distance and the beginnings of a slow, cold rain...knowing that I can stay inside all day long and never stick my nose out of the front door...having my pantry full of comfort foods, a great book started or just time for a long, warm nap...all these things make me just love winter. I love life...every single bit of it !! I don't want to rush one minute of it....not even the seasons !
Oh, I love summertime, too...don't get me wrong. Summer is the time for OUTDOORS. I like working in the yard, going to the park, going fishing....It's just that I love winter, too and I am not nearly ready to turn loose of it yet.
Have a happy, winter day ~

Im glad to hear your feeling better ! It seems so hard to recover in the winter time , we need some sun to cheer us all up :)
Im going to write that recipe down, that is the shortest recipe i have seen ! Thanks for sharing and stay warm this weekend ! We are expecting some snow too :)
Hi BJ,
just wanted to say hello, hope you are doing fine?!
I think that you really know how to enjoy and I just love the part where you two enjoy together in total silence. Before I got married I believed that I will find someone to share the silence with me. I need these moments of silence very much and unfortunately I didn’t find the right one for that. But, I am so glad you did, cherish it and enjoy it!!!
With love, Suzy
What a nice post. it just makes me wish that I had a fireplace. We had one for years and years. In fact, that was how we heated our whole house when we lived in Illinois. I still think that is the BEST of all heats..a roaring fireplace. I could sit there all day and probably take a nap.
We here in Ga. have all kinds of different weather in the winter. Sometimes it will be 80 and before you know it you can have it in the 20's. Smile.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Sandy
What a warm and comforting post. Those peanut butter cookies sound absolutely perfect for my busy days.
I know that the grands would love them.
We also love sitting by the fire on these chilly Jan evenings. So cozy!
Thanks for your prayers for Grandpa.
((hugs))
Hi BJ! So glad that you are feeling better! Those quilts are simply lovely!! Your house looks like the perfect place to curl up and read a good book by a cozy fire! No wonder you're not ready for winter to be over!! I would love to have enough snow for a snowman!! I'm so jealous lol!!

Hello dear BJ:-)
I'm feeling so "out of the loop" lately with not having time to be a regular blogger but hopefully I'll have the computer room done in another week or so and then I can blog to my heart's content again!! lol Like you, I really don't mind winter at all because there are always such wonderful things to do inside...the only thing I miss is traveling. I won't drive long distances in the winter time. I'll have a couple of those cookies and a glass of milk please:-) xoxo
Hi Sweet BJ,
You are so right about this time of year and of course about the lovely feeling of being with someone you love and the safety and comfort it brings.your cookies look gorgeous as ever!
I'm having a competition/giveaway and would love for you to enter, hope your well and smiling.

Hi BJ,
I just love the quilt pieces in that guilt. They remind me of some of the scrap material from some of my Mom's home made dresses. I have a throw made out of some of her scrap pieces. She used to quilt, but I never have tried it.
The peanut butter cookies sound wonderful and so easy to make. Thanks for the recipe.
Hi BJ, I have enjoyed your tour of beautiful rooms...and your great directions for the cookies...thanks for your visit to my place today...
I'm not ready for winter to be over although I'm not a cold weather person. But I relish the days spent inside working on projects and the slower pace of winter.
Manuela
What a wonderful cozy post Miz BJ!!
Hi, BJ!!! What a wonderful, positive way to look at the long winter days:) I have been developing a bad case of Spring Fever and your post has helped me slow down and enjoy what is here in front of me and stop wishing away time.
Enjoy your day, hope it is cozy!
Rhonda
I'm glad you're happy! :)
I haven't got anything down for weeks, other than housework, and homeschooling... *sigh*
Your frito pie...made me so hungry. We dont' get fritos here...and alas no chili either.Brought back 2 alarm chili mix....but its just not the same. The cookies looked divine too. Colleen in South Africa
Hi Bj,
You paint such a pretty picture with your words, all warm and cozy!
The cookies look delish!! Think I'll have to try them out today.
I enjoy winter, too. But here in Texas, we don't really get the bitter winters like the north! If I had snow on the ground for three months, then I might tire of it pretty quick!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Cyndy
Hi BJ,
Well, I was starting to get spring fever but after reading this I'm pretty content with winter!!
I especially liked when you said this: I don't want to rush one minute of it....not even the seasons
When I was young and would say things like, "I wish it was summertime, or I wish Christmas would hurry and get here...", my mother would say to me "Don't say things like that..you're wishing your life away!" Now I know what she meant!
Enjoy your cozy winter!
Hugs,
Hope
I have an award for you! It is the

Hi BJ, your cookies look yummy and what an easy recipe...I'm making a batch for sure.
I love the International Coffees too, my favorites is Suisse Mocha.
Have you posted the recipe for Taco Pie? I know my family would love it and me too. Hugs, Linda
Oh dear BJ, if you had asked me before I read this I would have told, yes I am sick of winter. It has been so cold and so much snow. But after reading your post on this I found myself thinking of the things I do appreciate about this time of the year. The other night coming home from church I gave pause of thought to how lovely the snow is when it is so cold, the way it looks like diamonds glittering. I so loved that when I was a child and guess I have never lost that child like awe how lovely it looks. I guess that is part of the reason I love coming to your site. Take care!
Hi BJ!
I am with you on this! I am enjoying winter too. And I think it is because I live in NC. We have 4 distinct seasons and winter is one I look forward too. It gets just cold enough. We get a little snow and some cold rain. Perfect for being indoors.
Ok, Now, I am really intrigued about those peanut butter cookies. No flour? No eggs? Just those three ingredients? What temp do you cook them at and for how long? And do you have a recipe for the Frito pie? You can email me lavenderhillstudio@mchsi.com.....
Hugs,
Penny
Oh I am wanting snow so badly. We have not had one yet. Only a few flurries. I am with you, reading, eating comfort fooods, and being surroned by those you love,WONDERFUL....Mary
I think its wonderful that you love life. We should all love life. Thats my thought to ponder for the day !!
What a wonderful job of snowpeople construction you all do.
That woodstove is the #1 reason I hate to see winter end. I love to curl up on the sofa with a cup of coffee and watch the flames dance around the logs.
That snowman is darling!! Looking forward to a big snow on the way here, I can cuddle up on the couch by my fireplace. I love watching it snow and blow!
Keep cozy!!
Michelle
